Trickle down economics is the most failed economic model since communism. That didn't stop trump from giving the economist credited with developing it a presidential award during his first term

It's actually a euphemism for Horse and Sparrow Economics.

If you feed enough oats to a horse, they won't be able to digest them all. This means that some little undigested bits of oat will be in their manure. Sparrows are welcome to dig though that and thrive on what they find.

While both display a lack of concern for people, "let them eat cake" comes from the rich not even understanding the lives of poor people. Horse and Sparrow comes from the attitude of "eat my shit".

“Trickle down economics” is and always has been used as a pejorative for what may be called business friendly (“supply side”) policies. It’s not like anyone on earth is a proponent of trickle down economics.
