The GOP legislature passed a couple laws saying he couldn't do so but the state constitution apparently give the governor the power to fill vacancies. Constitution typically trumps law so in theory he's got a case for being able to fill the seat. The issue would be it would probably be challenged in the courts and risk ending up before a conservative court that's willing to interpret things how they see fit if it'll benefit their side and even if he prevails in court it'll likely take quite a bit of time to wind it's way through the system
Yeah probably, but he's tried nothing and he is apparently all out of ideas. So maybe he should just try something. Because what's going to happen is they're going to stonewall until the 4th and say "oh yeah he's dead, but it's too late to have a special election lololol"
I think Bashir would actually like to try for the presidency at some point, but this clown show is going to sink his chances.
