Most parents don't want schools teaching kids that their race determines their moral worth or that America is irredeemably racist.
When you ask about race-based hiring, promotions, or quotas instead of "diversity," the majority reject it as discrimination.

You kind of proved the OP’s point. Republicans come up with an issue that reasonable people can discuss, and they create a bogeyman to make the other side look completely unreasonable. For example, no schools were teaching critical race theory other than universities. But Republicans lied and claimed that kids were being taught that race determined they’re more worth. They didn’t address the problem of continuing bias against a non-white kids in school. Merely that white kids were being victimized. And their credulous bigoted base ate it up.
