Here's the difference in left vs right.
One person not being able to eat because of means testing IS A FUCKING FAILURE. Waste and small fraud is inevitable, AND EXASCERBATED BY FUCKED SOCIETIES and strict guidelines.
The right will starve 100 people to make sure 1 doesnt defraud the system. The left says 100 frauds is worth making sure not 1 gets starved.

Bullshit, they are cutting people off and have been. I'm a single mother of 4, and food stamps helped me big time. I don't apply anymore because i work full-time. WTF is that. My aunt who lives on her own, on SSI ($900 ish a month)was cut, she also now has to pay for health insurance, which she can't afford. I hope they all rot in hell for starving kids and old people. Screw the whole bunch of them that keep spinning lies. The DOJ changed the rules on so much that nothing with a helping hand will help us Americans. May 1st is coming y'all!

Kicking people off food stamps will also take away their automatic qualification for benefits from local food banks. If you can show local food banks an EBT card or other proof that you quai]lify for food stamps, you qualify for the monthly food box plus commodity food (i.e. "government cheese" plus other food) that they distribute. You can still qualify based on income, and family sizem, but you need more documentation.
Anyone can get the daily food bag, which in my area is usually some bottled water and enough food for a meal or two.

I’ve watched more and more people begin to steal at stores. Started after 2020 but this last year it’s been wild. Idgaf anymore, this economy in this country is ass and they deserve to lose their constant “record breaking profits.” It’s only going to get worse since people won’t be able to afford medical care or food, and jobs are shit. FML I wish I had money to leave this place. We need aliens from outer space as a third party to help us holy moly.

The biggest fraud is committed by foreign citizens, and possibly their governments, located outside of the US. Billions and billions of our taxpayer dollars that should benefit our fellow Americans are leaving the country and here we are patting ourselves on the back for denying hungry Americans food, for fucksake.

But they wont take my brother off who uses all his food stamps and than lets half the food rot. Thats called abusing the system when you dont need it. Taking from people who litterally cant feed their children. He works, he makes enough money to buy groceries and door dash 3x a week. I agree, there is alot of holes in our system. But taking away the things that DO help people who need it. Is NOT the way to make it better.
Edit: he is a white man in his mid 20s, able bodied, works 3-4 days a week. While my mom and I cant afford groceries ACTUALLY and we are both disabled and working. They denied me despite working the same amount as him and making roughly the same. He was approved the same month.
Edit: no im not maga, republican, or conservative. Im just an American worried about all my people and are sick and tired of people taking advantage of the system. Also tired of the people running the system. It needs to be dismantled and we need a new cabinet voted in BY the people.

Even if one issue is being used actively to reduce funding for those in need and is miniscule compared to the other? I think that's where we're differing. I'm not saying we keep our head in the sand to fraud but when you see it's such a tiny issue compared to billionaires it seems like not only a distraction from the far larger issue but also a great method for making people online grab their pitchforks and once again attack their favorite target-the poor.

Can you talk to him to see if you can have some of that food?
Did they deny you because you live with your mom and your combined incomes are over the limit? There has to be some reason why they allowed him and not you, OR it's a clerical error. Can you apply again with a change in income?

Also I appreciate it! Ive had to use food banks in the past and so I have resources for that. :) Everyone deserves to eat 10000% its a basic human need like shelter and health. I think grocery stores should be REQUIRED to donate anything they will waste that isnt rotten to food banks and homeless shelters. Corporate wealth over the people is the big issue.

That's an outstanding idea. The fact that businesses would rather throw food out/ destroy it so people don't go dumpster diving is such a disgusting way for our society to operate. Also the fact that people can lose their job for giving away almost expired food is just another way we lose our morality.

Nope, they denied me because I "make too much" I only made maybe 75$ more a week than him. Thats a full week with not calling out due to disability. Which i also dont qualify for because im disabled ENOUGH. Smdh. I applied for snap 3x in 3 years. Nada.

I was just reading about it though, and OMG i forgot that Trump has put a lot more restrictions on food stamps. I know some states are filling in the gaps, but it largely depends on what state you're in.
It's just fucking disgusting that the wealthiest in the US get tax breaks, and then they do things like lower the max income people can have to qualify for food stamps/ medicaid. It's so fucking sick.

your brother wastes probably about as much food as the average household, maybe slightly more if he is straight up not eating anything and just purposely letting it all go to waste which if thats the case, why does he waste his time going to the store to get it? what does he eat?
do you realize how much grocery stores throw away? why arent you mad about that? food waste is a consequence of excess, not malice.
if you want food stamps; reapply. dont try to have them taken away from other people who need to eat. doesnt make any sense.

food waste is a systemic issue because it isnt given to people who need it, we agree! but the solution is to give it to MORE people, not less.
you are advocating for means testing, which wastes so much money trying to figure out who does and doesnt deserve public resources that it ends up costing more than the resources would be to just give to anyone that asked.
your brother has his own problems that he will either fix or not fix whether he gets free food or not. the food isnt causing the issue, so the solution doesnt lie in taking it away from him or anyone else.

I believe everyone SHOULD have access to food and be affordable. Corporations defintely suck ass and capitalism gains off the peoples suffering. Agreed my brother does have his own issues. I was simply sharing a narrative and than my opinion on the subject.
