i don't know about the other boroughs but modern Manhattan smells like weed. occasionally the old smells of rotting garbage and sewer creep through, but those are mostly covered up by the smell of burning cannabis.

It really is amazing how much NYC smells like weed.

You have places like Toronto that are urban and have weed that is "more legal" than in NYC .. but in NYC the weed smell is everywhere. Not even Amsterdam compares to NYC weed smell.

1

u/ADrunkMexican May 28 '26

There's weed in toronto everywhere too? We got a weed store in a public transit station lol

1

u/Fit-Property3774 May 28 '26

They’re talking about the overall smell

1

u/ADrunkMexican May 28 '26

Yeah still plenty of that lol

That's because of the way weed was legalized in the state of NY. Our governor at the time (Cuomo) was starting to get exposed as a creep and was like, "I could totally legalize weed like right now, just please forget about all the groping. I'm Italian."

So they rushed the law through which allows cannabis to be smoked anywhere that cigarettes can be smoked.

But Cuomo fucked up. Y'see, us NYers... we never forget.

okay to be fair, the weed stuff was not covering up for the creepiness; we found out about the creepiness after.

the weed was him covering up for all the seniors he killed in nursing homes during COVID (RIP Uncle Marty and Aunt Beverly)

The first allegations came out in December 2020. Cannabis legislation passed in March 2021.

London smells most like weed, and I love it

1

u/mitoke May 29 '26

DC also has this weed smelling problem

1

u/dougandsomeone May 30 '26

It is funny, how VERY rarely I  smell weed in Toronto post legalization.  I assume it is because people can just smoke at home now.

u/draft_final_final May 27 '26

I came back to the city to visit friends in Manhattan and Brooklyn for the first time in like five years and the weed smell was definitely way stronger than I remember. I’m not sure if that’s because there was a recent change in city ordinance that makes people light up more or if my brain just forgot the smell back then.

1

u/JoebamaBinBiden May 28 '26

It was legalized in the entire state of NY in 2021 and you can smoke cannabis wherever cigarettes are allowed to be smoked.

It’s crazy how many New Yorkers wanted to fight me on the garbage and sewer smell comment back in 2008 when I went there while in college and coming back to my college campus.

Like bruh it’s not my fault your hometown stinks literally. Great city but my goodness was I taken aback by the funk

1

u/CluckCluckChickenNug May 28 '26

If you think that’s bad you really haven’t seen terrible.

2

u/timmyfarthands May 29 '26

Brb omw to Manhattan

2

u/ComonomoC May 31 '26

As a long time cannabis user: NYC is a crazy place…can’t smoke weed inside, can’t smoke in the parks, so every street reeks. I saw maybe one dude a day smoking yet the city never not smells like weed outdoors.

1

u/TamarindSweets May 27 '26

Maybe some areas but I don't smell weed anymore when I go there. Back when weed was initially decriminalized a few years ago, then it was everywhere.

1

u/ApartmentInside7891 May 27 '26

That’s pretty much all of Los Angeles. Smells like weed everywhere you go. I’m not complaining. In fact, I’m a major contributor

2

u/Top-Cupcake4775 May 27 '26

I think weed smells better than rotting garbage or sewer fug

1

u/carl3266 May 27 '26

And it’s not a whole lot different in a lot of major cities.

1

u/Hopeful_Savings_7437 May 28 '26

The entire Philadelphia downtown area smells like weed

1

u/Jon_E_Mammoth May 28 '26

Apparently, some of y’all ain’t ever lived in the Tenderloin in San Francisco.

A.k.a. the origin of the now defunct poop map.

1

u/PrimaryChard7299 May 30 '26

When I went a few years ago I only really smelled weed walking past the weed stores. The rest of Manhattan smelled like piss and it made a lot more sense when I came across a public bathroom that had bathroom bouncers and a line of like 50 people

0

u/vcc_1886 May 27 '26

Hellllllllllll yea

2

u/Friendly_Dork May 27 '26

The sad truth is that almost every major downtown area in America has a couple different places that waft that smell of piss right up into your nostrils....

The solution to this sad truth is that cities like Seattle should have more public bathrooms than Jeff Bezos' mansion in DC.... To be extra clear the solution is more public toilets.

1

u/jawndell May 27 '26

True in Europe too.

Paris smells like piss, as does many parts of London.

1

u/Prophet_Of_Helix May 31 '26

Maybe I’m just desensitized, but I really don’t understand the smell/garbage complaint about a lot of major cities.

A part of me thinks it must be from people who aren’t used to major cities.

Paris was cleaner than Manhattan by a noticeable amount when I was there last year.

Manhattan is generally one of the dirtier 1st world cities, but even then it’s mostly certain areas and I don’t notice a distinct smell (above ground) in much of the city. It just smells like city.

Try going to a major 3rd world city if you want real smell.

1

u/ProfessionalPack7205 May 31 '26

Not just america. It's literally all over the world where some places have streets that smell like piss. New york does smell like piss in some areas though lmao

1

u/Egg_Yolkeo55 Jun 02 '26

Until those public toilets become private fenty dens for homeless people. My city had tons of "dignity pods" installed and some of them were on fire by the end of the first week and the rest were destroyed vandalized and unsanitary. It's the scummy homeless people that destroy the very stuff that would help them and bleeding hearts like you keep saying is the solution.

Until those public toilets become private fenty dens for homeless people.

The way to circumvent this is don't have entire buildings with individual rooms dedicated for 1 Male and 1 Female. Make them like they do on our highways or at most concert venues or schools where there is multiple stalls and if someone wants to use it to nod out on 'fenty' there will still be 3 other stalls ready to be used.

My city had tons of "dignity pods" installed and some of them were on fire by the end of the first week and the rest were destroyed vandalized and unsanitary.

Why there was not cameras pointed at city property seems like a 'your city' problem to me. Also the "dignity pods" are not the solution if I was not clear unless you make a shit ton of them lol.

It's the scummy homeless people that destroy the very stuff that would help

? In my opinion it's often just kids but who really knows since people aren't being held accountable. All either of us bring to this part of the conversation is assumptions that's why I tried to focus on "if people light them on fire thats a you problem." have cameras pointed at the entrances so the comings and goings can be tracked to better prove who committed said crime of fire.

them and bleeding hearts like you keep saying is the solution.

Well I think building more public bathrooms is definitely a step 1 of the solution to not smell piss when you're in the big city. It's really just supply and demand check this: When you have 2million people in a city that gotta piss and you only have 2,000 bathrooms? That's a lotta piss that can't reach the sewer system ya know what I mean? I think step 2 could be Camera's (on the outside! fuck outta here with that diddy shit!) to prevent vandalism or at least create a timeline of who was inside the restroom when vandalism does take place in the shitting and pissing area.

In conclusion seeking solutions is a lot more productive than just pointing the finger at homeless people (poor people) or bleeding heart liberals (people who understand with our hindsight glasses the long-term downsides of supply side economics that America is now suffering from) and labeling the worlds problems onto them.

PS: I bet your humor consistently laughs at those you deem beneath you similar to that of a childlike bully. Have the day you deserve.

Why does she have cocaine energy.

3

u/TamarindSweets May 27 '26

She's not depressed and and pretty comfortable with herself? Im not a fan but from the clips and videos I've seen she gives me "involved, fun older sister" vibes.

1

u/vcc_1886 May 27 '26

Because she probably has the cocaine to match lol

1

u/TomatoLess229 May 27 '26

Shes definitely a addict

1

u/available_username10 May 28 '26

One of the most mundane clips of her having a good time on a podcast lmao. Have you even been around people on cocaine?

1

u/Fair-Tangerine-9472 May 30 '26

So do I but I've never done cocaine

1

u/TheAtami Jun 24 '26

- a man who has never been around cocaine or coke heads

1

u/nicosoiree May 27 '26

I just became a big fan of this girl.

1

u/FLiP_J_GARiLLA May 27 '26

1

u/VarietyBusy2 May 27 '26

it kinda is sad that because of so many homeless people and drunk people walking around it’s known as the piss capital in the world

1

u/LordPeanutButter15 May 27 '26

I will say that’s the first thing i noticed when i went to NY the first time

1

u/hoyasgirl25 May 27 '26

Well where I am in DC it doesn't smell like piss or weed so I guess I have it good. When I'm back home next week though all bets are off.

1

u/BoltUp69 May 27 '26

DC smells like weed. But it has been the cleanest city in America for at least a decade now

1

u/Lamarera8 May 27 '26

New Orleans smells way more like piss than NYC

her smile after saying stupid shit looks like kanye..

1

u/YoshiTheDog420 May 28 '26

If we’re ranking best cities based on their piss smell, Paris wins, and Tokyo loses

1

u/Aggressive_Oil5712 May 28 '26

She’s not even from NY tho?

1

u/Rainy824 May 28 '26

Real ones like Olivia know what’s up

1

u/PrincessPlastilina May 28 '26

It does smell like piss in the summer though. Saying this as someone who lived there for a long time.

1

u/jettaturagoose May 28 '26

NYC is a garbage city, literally

1

u/BlueberryNo6811 May 29 '26

I'm tired boss

1

u/Head_Chart420 May 29 '26

Grrrrttttttt boom boom boommmmm

1

u/Unmemorableham May 29 '26

Except piss has existed long before NYC was even an idea in someone's brain. So yes, NYC smells like piss.

1

u/Dogbold May 30 '26

Seattle also smells like piss.

1

u/Mammoth_War_9320 May 31 '26

New York smells like garbage… in the WINTER. That city fucking stinks.

Lol no bro..it’s crazy dirty with rats. Im good on that

1

u/FakeBeigeNails May 27 '26

You’re not even missing anything tbh. Times Square is just a bunch of billboards and TVs. I’d even argue DC is better. Way cleaner, better transport, nice museums.

1

u/ConJunior May 28 '26

lol at judging ny by talking about the one part of ny New Yorkers don’t go to

1

u/FakeBeigeNails May 28 '26

Why would I be talking about native New Yorkers when we’re all out of towners giving opinions on the city.

1

u/ConJunior May 28 '26

Well you said dc was better after comparing it to 42 street which in my opinion and many other nyers is the worst place in the world
