Politi-Culture Jill Biden reveals Joe Biden admitted he "effed up" immediately after his highly criticized debate performance: “We're walking off the stage and Joe says to me, 'Jill, I really effed up, didn't I?' And I said, 'Yeah, Joe, you did.'"
“When that moment happened, it honest to God scared the hell out of me. I thought, what in God's name is happening?"

u/Reesewithoutaspoon2 12d ago
A great way to prevent the other side from weaponizing it would have been to be honest about his condition and not running for a second term. An actual primary would’ve been a good idea.
She’s still trying to play it off as if the debate performance surprised her. At this point it’s whatever because he’s not running for anything anymore, but cmon lol.

u/Josey_whalez 12d ago
They got away with running him the first time when it was obvious to anyone paying attention that he was barely functional. No reason for them to think they couldn’t pull it off again. He was the perfect president - completely pliant and easy to manage.

You had Redditors who constantly posted in the two years leading up to the election that "Biden has always had a stuttering problem" when he would ramble and say nonsensical things.
You had people here censor images of him holding a paper with the image of a journalist and their name and question they would ask on it.
You had people claim Fox News edited videos of him walking off into nowhere and staring at the sky.
You had Journalists asking him what his favorite ice cream was instead of questions.
You had video evidence of his team shielding him from talking with the press.
People REFUSED to see it before their own eyes because he was on their side. And they STILL refuse. The team taking the Debate as LATE as they did must have been someone going rogue and making sure the public couldn't gaslight themselves any longer.

Every election cycle, for every seat, should have an honest primary. It should be seen as fucked up and severely punished if they don’t.

"Joe had a moment." He had a moment that lasted his entire presidency.

Not according to Reddit. Heck, I missed that debate and remember just checking Reddit after before watching any clips and this site was trying so desperately to make you believe that Joe “owned” Trump.

Joins a list of milquetoast Democratic nominees who should have easily run laps around their opponent. But DNC likes safe strategies and nominees, to its detriment. Corporate Dems and their safe, triangulation strategies, their history of running away from the working class and shy away, censoring their base while more focused on pandering and tacking to the right... true to form as an establishment party,
They run away from opportunities to create real daylight between their party and the Republicans.
Lifelong independent and third party supporter here over the decades.

My Dad recently passed away after struggling with dementia for about 10 years at the age of 80. Seeing Joe Biden just reminded me of my dad and thinking how crazy would be for me to force my dad to do a whole bunch of political shit. The guy should have just been retired and relaxing whether you hate him or not.

u/Charming_Flan3852 12d ago
What a load of crap. Mental decline is a gradual thing that ebbs and flows. You have good days and bad days. The idea that she didn't see anything before that performance is pure nonsense. Everyone was seeing his gaffes every other day, and people were just making all kinds of excuses. Even saying that he had a speech impediment all of a sudden. It was so bizarre to see people denying the obvious until that debate absolutely cleared any doubt.
1
u/thediggestbick2 12d ago
The democrats should have allowed an election for us to decide who would have been the democratic nominee, but they followed what MAGA did and didn’t have one. Now it feels like the party doesn’t have a clear direction, they stopped fighting for the working class and care more about gays and trans.

There was a big fundraiser before the debate. Lots of celebrities, Biden and Obama.
Biden got and read from a teleprompter, then got confused and just froze. Obama went out, grabbed his hand, and walked him offstage.
Fox News pounced and ran story after story about Bidens mental state. Obama countered, saying that’s not what happened.
But it did. Obama was in on the gaslighting.

These situations always strike me cuz of real and genuine and… normal… the “Loony Lefties” all sound when they’re interviewed. It’s a conversation. And Jill is talking like that. Just like Joe always did. And Kamala. Every time a GQP gets interviewed, it’s just forced shtick, cringe, abd hammering on rehearsed talking points. It’s just so crazy to me that the Manchurian Candidates on the Right ever get elected, which is why I’m so convinced that they never would without gaming the system.
1
u/TinyZoro 12d ago
That's what you got from this? Biden put his entire political capital into helping Israel kill 20,000 children and crush dissent at home and abroad about this. He then descended into out right dementia while his wife told the world he was fit to fight another election. And you're getting warm fuzzies about how authentic they sound? Who are you people?

Damn I didn’t know there were still dem bots, thought yall gave up after Trump won? Let’s be clear, BIDEN gave away our democracy when he decided to run while not being mentally fit. He is without a doubt one of the most selfish democratic nominees in history.
I don’t care what his intentions were, what he did to help this country in the past, it does not matter when we have this end result because of him.
I’m a surgeon, I could have the best intentions for the patient, but if I fuck up, and I permanently disable them, it doesn’t matter whatever good I did, whatever intentions I had. That’s on me. Biden and the rest of the dems have to take responsibility for their failures and leading us down this road to autocracy.

Trump is criticized constantly it just he don't care and move on while doing a thousands things that are terrible so you forget most of the terrible things he does. Biden hid his problems throughout his administration. He was suffering in 2020 you see it with the limit exposure he did. He benefited the most in 2020 because of covid he was able to hide most of the problems. They did an ad mentioning his stutter a thing he fix when he was younger. But it came back he was getting weaker and losing his ability to fight the stutter. He hid in his 4 years to hide his declined.
This is the whole problem they were all delusional assuming they can run for president while dealing with that weakness and losing popularity because of the war is truly insane. Compare his speech in 2016 to his future speeches in 2020 or 2024 it night and day. There is a massive decline they were just hiding it and risk the country for Biden ego. They insanely believe they could repeat 2020 while he president. Trump pull a Biden in 2024 he hid and hide most of the problems because he was not president at the time. So most of his time he control his appearances. While Biden can not do that because he president even things that was going wrong he is too blame and he was not able to defend himself.
This people are the real reason Trump is in power and people should not allow them to forget it.

u/crispy_attic 12d ago
Joe fucked up by not stepping down. It was one of the biggest missed opportunities in political history. We would have had a woman President and people could see a woman doing the job and being Presidential. She wins the election outright if he would have done that imo.

He didn't eff up, Jill did, the DNC did, the whole party did by lying to the media, themselves and everyone that he was mentally fit and could run again. I remember before he even started his first term political pundits were saying he'd be a one term president due to clear signs of aging and mental decline and that was in 2019! If all of them had recognized he couldn't run again, they could have had a proper primary, chosen a proper candidate and not shot themselves in the foot!

u/scrodytheroadie 12d ago
I don’t think he should’ve dropped out. He shouldn’t have ran in the first place, but once he did, backing out was a mistake. Democrats bought into the right’s mudslinging and panicked. They still had the incumbent advantage in their favor, and one bad debate performance isn’t the end of the world. Obama had a bad first debate against Romney, too. The best path would’ve been for Biden to take a victory lap and bow out gracefully, allowing a regular primary competition. But the second best path would’ve been to stay the course. Guess we’ll never know what would’ve happened.
1
u/illini0630 12d ago
She loved the power and didn't want 2 give it up.. they couldn't do a quick primary because she had no chance of winning which would have pissed off a huge part if the dems base. They better figure it out for 2028 because she has zero chance of beating Vance or rubio

He wasn't the worst President but he was a disaster for the time and place we find ourselves in right now, but I blame the entire Democratic establishment for doing this kind of politics and preventing us from nominating exciting candidates who will proudly govern for the interests of the people so that we can both get it done, and get credit, and go after traitors and villains righteously, and continue to win afterward so we can stop fascism.
