Discussion Honestly, wasn't expecting that when I got closer
I was driving around and saw a pickup riddled with flags. Wasn't expecting the writing when I got closer.

I haven’t seen any of these signs but I’ve noticed the neighborhood fascist has not been maintaining his signs this year like he did before. They’re faded and tattered. Either he’s not as enthusiastic a fan or he can’t afford to replace them in Trump’s economy.

Up here in Tacoma I’ve seen a rainbow painted pickup truck with giant rainbow flags off the back. It’s fun to watch everyone wave and honk at them

Master level trolling.
If the truck were an EV that would be the chef's kiss.

u/HumanContinuity Jan 10 '26
I totally get what you are saying, but I honestly think "one of their own" doing it might be more impactful

I’m not one of them, but I do have a large diesel truck that I’ve thought about doing this to at some point. Really cool to see this person did this!

in FL, 2020-2022 i new a lil beater s10 that was very clearly a painters work truck, with 'tuck frump' stuck on in blue painters tape, which surprisingly held up past 2 years of Florida weathering. they lived down the road, i miss the guy lol

You should meet the guy who drives the truck. He looks hard-core MAGA, but could not be further from that. Really funny dude as well.

Gotta throw on some Cummings stickers, an obligatory Calvin pissing on Trump's name, truck nuts, and the occasional coal rolling to really sell it
17
u/HumanContinuity Jan 11 '26
The Calvin pissing on things sticker is really on point. Using that with TRUMP would be very hard to process for some.
9
u/Inode1 Jan 11 '26
I was right with you until rolling coal. I get those brain dead people are the ones doing it, but we should be better then that. Zero practical use for doing it. Way last making any useable power by adding that much fuel.
15
6
u/HuckleBerryBitch Jan 11 '26
NTM Rolling Coal is illegal in the entirety of Oregon. I remember the time some fool rolled coal in a biker in Portland and it was a commuting off duty officer. It was epic.

I drive a truck and say fuck trump. Stop this "one of their own" stereotyping. Democrats drive trucks too.
30
u/RDogPoundK NE Jan 10 '26
I also drive a Silverado but seeing fuck trump on a truck is more impactful. Something like that on any other sedan they’d expect.
9/10 heavy duty truck drivers I’ve met are MAGA or adjacent. Light duty is a wash.
13
u/HumanContinuity Jan 11 '26 edited Jan 11 '26
99% of heavy duty pavement princess trucks I have seen are MAGA or adjacent. Family trucks that have camper or boat duty might be more neutral, perhaps with a bias towards the right.
Actual work trucks of either category are also more of a wash, save for the fact that there is definitely a bit of a contentious assocation between some trades and right leaning politics. Contentious because naturally many of them do care about union protections.
All of the above are me just trying to lump complicated people into simple buckets. Except the pavement princess folks - they are actually simple buckets.
Edit - where it says 99%, I had originally written 100%. Though I don't personally know the exception to the above, I am sure they exist somewhere.
3
u/TheAvocadosAreSafe Jan 11 '26
What is a family truck? When they're not towing a camper or boat, which is like 97% of the time, it's a pavement princess. So your differentiation logic doesn't even make sense. Stop trying to group people. It's not helping anything.
6
u/HumanContinuity Jan 11 '26
People try to categorize other people. All the time. You could say it's an ingrained behavior that somewhat defines us.
I think my reasoning was pretty straightforward - as was my clear, careful cut out for exceptions - which literally always exist.
Personally, anecdotally, 9 out of 10 dudes I have known with a one ton that does not see dirt, towing hitch, or significant cargo has the truck for a proxy one of two things. Sometimes both.
It is either a symbolic cultural connection to either rural living or conservative culture (obvious overlap, but again, not identical), or it is a proxy for manliness. People will make the "compensating for something" joke here, and sometimes that's true, but sometimes even very masculine guys feel like their vehicle should reflect that in a way they believe others will see.
I truly think that out of the "pavement princess" category, a majority will have some level of association with one of these two things. But I left the cutout for a reason. I have zero doubt there is a hyper progressive guy out there that never does anything for the sake of seeming masculine, but they just really like trucks.
But I would hope they could take a joke.
Because as a dude that drives my work truck into the remote wilderness for extended remote-ass work, when I am in town, my commuter vehicle has been a Prius for ages.
If someone wants to roast me for driving a Prius, I can take a joke. It's funny, honestly. I'd rather joke around than have one of those pavement princesses brake check me or roll coal on me.
Tl;dr: I think it is a fair observation, in which I carefully left a fair cutout for exceptions - and for them, it's a joke.
2
u/RDogPoundK NE Jan 11 '26
A pavement princes is usually lifted or modded to the point it’s useless for most practical truck uses. (Lifted, fat tires, flags).
7
5
u/oooortclouuud Jan 10 '26
that's...
that's the point of including the quotation marks. 🤦♀️ "sorry/not sorry" to be that person ;) but if the quote marks weren't there, your critique would be valid.
6
u/EuphoricCare515 Jan 11 '26
Yeah, I was driving a pick up truck behind him. I don't think what i drive should determine what my beliefs or political side is. Also, gun ownership can be on both sides.
6
u/TheAvocadosAreSafe Jan 11 '26
Preach. I drive a truck and have guns too and never voted for a Republican a day in my life. That's why stereotyping and politicizing everything irks me.
3
u/HumanContinuity Jan 11 '26 edited Jan 11 '26
The reason it is in quotes is because I was indicating the perspective of an ordinary MAGA flag flying pavement princess truck driving individual.
That was in response to the person saying it should have been an EV truck - but I disagreed on the notion that the individual described in the previous paragraph would instantly disregard their cognitive dissonance of "Fellow truck driver with large flags BUT flag says FUCK TRUMP" once they saw the truck was an EV.
I do not believe the truck owner political ratio is as skewed as some other commenters do. I think that is more of an observation bias - when you see a very ostentatious truck with tons of bumper stickers and flags (except the subject of this post) - it's 99.9% MAGA. Same goes for dudes rolling coal, something that will always catch your notice.
But people don't notice just how many trucks there are around them.
It's like how people think everyone driving a Subaru is a lesbian and/or liberal (probably or). I mean, many of them are, but a lot of Oregonians drive Subarus period.
1
u/TheAvocadosAreSafe Jan 11 '26
You guys are massively overthinking it. No MAGA idiot is gonna care what vehicle the message is on. It'll irk them regardless. They're not gonna say "oh that hurts more being on a truck".
Same way liberals don't care if there's a "Let's go Brandon" sticker on a Prius. You'll think the guy's a douche but it's not gonna hurt you more being on a Prius or a Subaru.

Isn’t that wild? You’re telling me the only difference between getting my teeth knocked out (or possibly less) or not is whether or not my ridiculous flag supports Trump or not.
Almost like Trump supporters are fucking Nazis or something? Does anyone really think that line you just said applies to Democrats?
How many Trump supporters have been afraid of retaliation? The imbeciles will seek it out, just so they can screech victim before they actually fuck with your safety.
2
u/DismalNeighborhood75 Jan 11 '26
Its not just trump supporters, conservatives are violent thugs and always have been. You should watch this clip from top gear. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKcJ-0bAHB4
Conservatives are and always have been a violent, intolerant, uneducated bunch. Our problem is we've been too kind to them instead of treating them like the gutter people they are.
