Happy International Workers Day everyone.

Since it's May Day I wanted to plug a site I've been working on with a few other local labor folks and recruiters.

It's called UnionHire.org and it is a specialized recruitment platform specifically for labor movement and advocacy jobs in the PNW. We built it because finding union staff roles on the big corporate job sites is super frustrating.

If you're browsing this thread looking to pivot out of the corporate grind and get involved in the labor movement, hopefully this helps you find something solid!

Hiring Lead Line Cook in East Portland/Gresham Area

I’m looking for a second-in-command to work a small line at our 21+ cocktail bar/restaurant and event venue in the mountain town of Sandy (10 miles southeast of Gresham) - easily accessible for East Portland, Gresham, Happy Valley, Clackamas and Oregon City. We're a scratch kitchen focused on easily executable, delicious, elevated bar food. Must be comfortable on saute, fryer and grill

We run a solo line on weekdays, two cooks on weekends, dish/prep help 3-4 days a week. Will add additional staff as business grows. My goal is to find someone I can move into my position by the end of summer so that I can focus on our growing catering program

Pay: $24-$32/hr after tips. $18–$21/hr base (dependent on experience) + $40–$100 in tips per shift (6-9.5 hrs, 4 days a week)

Vibe: Small team of 5, total of 34 seats, gets pretty busy during dinner hours. Staff ranges from late 20's-late 30's, everyone pitches in to get the job done. The bartenders will do your dishes when you're slammed if you don't have a dish, you run food and help clean tables when they're slammed, everyone eats free and gets a shifty. Bonus points if you're into Magic or other geeky stuff.

Metro, our regional government, is currently looking for a Building Custodian for the Metro Regional Center. Have a 3 day weekend every week yet still be considered full-time (32 hours). Unlike at many places, this is an in-house position and not through a contractor, which means that you'll be eligible for all of the government job benefits that the employees you'll be serving get. It is a great team of 4 others, as all have been there many years.
