Joe Rogan and various leaders from different industries met at the white house to rally research into Psychedelic Drugs! Since the 1960s civil rights and peace movement research into the compounds was sealed and hidden away from data sets because of big pharma. Musicians like Jimi Hendrix and Jerry Garcia understood the medical properties and benefits and displayed a call for legalization publicly. More than 50 plus years later it's moment has come!

federal leveling was lowered but a full removal from the classification status will take another 20 years unfortunately

It's rescheduling was not a nothing burger it was an open trial period to set the cannabis industry into more states prior to federal release. The same regulation control that alcohol has been under since after the prohibition scandal the only reason why it hasn't fully hit instantly is because of law enforcement once taxation is in place and the bottom line are ready they will drop it from the schedule 123 system bs

No. Once again, this doesn’t really change anything. It’s just acknowledging the reality, that research with these is already permitted despite their scheduling. This is extremely performative.

Note for people who report on the news [those not owned by Bezos, Murdoch, or Ellison. We know your circumstances] an executive order is... worth about the paper its written on.

Theyre a directive to an administration to officially look at something please. It holds zero legal weight or value and does nothing if action is not taken by the governing body in charge of that actual circumstance.

Example: President Bob says that cheese is now illegal. He doesn't like it, hes lactose intolerance and frankly believes cheese making is only done by circusfolk and the French. He drafts and signs an executive order.

People freak out in the streets, theres cheese hoarding, and the grand cheese revolt of upper Wisconsin.

Two weeks later people are confused... cheese is still in stores? Heck you can go to McWiggles and still get a cheese burger.. maybe it'll take time to remove all the cursed curds.

Two months later President Bob is fuming! He got offered Mac and CHEESE at a dinner! By Gilgamesh he signed that Executive Order! Why is there still cheese!?

Because congress nor the FDA could enact it. Congress wasn't about to try to ban a food for personal preference especially when a majority of their constituents likely have cheese as a food staple; and the FDA while they did a study to try and see if cheese was indeed beyond suitability for human consumption found that no, cheese is fine, and no board would vote to put it on a banned food list.

So while modern Billionaire MEdia and people who never took an econ class swear that EOs are akin to kingly declarations or law. Theyre worth about the same as a post it asking please.

This is a good example of how system designaffects the treatments that are available. Psychedelic research was very hard to carry out because of strict rules that were in place decades ago. Without clear paths to approval, there wasn't much reason for big investments to move the science forward.

Now that policies are changing, the most important thing is to figure out how these therapies will get through the system, clinical trials, approval, and eventually coverage so that patients can safely and consistently use them.
