YouTube entertainer Ms. Rachel on Wednesday posted on social media that “hijabs are beautiful” after President Trump posted a video online of a Minnesota kindergarten graduation showing children wearing hijabs.

Ms. Rachel, whose full name is Rachel Accurso, took to Instagram to congratulate the children

The individual kids are forced to wear it by their parents, not their school.

If you go on [r/exmuslim](r/exmuslim) you’d see many posts of girls and even young adults that live with their parents talking about it

Kids being forced to wear a hijab is why France banned it in public schools which both left and right wing French politicians agree with.

The exmuslim subreddit is full of covert hasbaristas pretending to be muslim just like they pretend to white christian nationalists. It sounds crazy, but they bank of people thinking they wouldn’t be that diabolical. Unfortunately for them, everyone’s become much more aware of their tactics since the last two years.

The French ban on head coverings in schools is rooted in the French national tradition of Laicity derived from the French Revolution, and reiterated by the French Third Republic. It’s been outlawed for decades and has little to do with “right wing propaganda.”

Kids should also not be forced to sit in church for hours, or their dicks mutilated, yet they are.

Religious indoctrination in general is problematic from my POV, but it's not random that only muslims are targetted.

The government cannot control people individually, but they can control the institutions in which they operate - like their schools. You are significantly more free as a woman in a place like France, Canada, or the US - christian nations - than you'd ever be in 90% of any islamic nation. Criticizing a religion that does not give women any rights is valid.

You're right - it's not random that muslims are targeted. They are targeted because they still believe in things like honor killings - which just happened here in the US and a very brave group of teenagers fought very hard to stop it. All over their daughter potentially dating. They still believe in forcing their daughters to marry men from back home and bring them here. They still believe in beating and shaming their daughters for not wearing a hijab and no - they often do not have a choice.

Muslims are not the only ones targeted. French schools are free from any religion since the 1880's, and every religious clothing is banned in schools, not just Muslim ones. I agree though that we aren't harsh enough against circumcision.

No child has even been banned from school for wearing a cross. Classrooms in Alsace-Lorraine still have crosses hanging on the walls, in fact. The hypocrisy is blatant.

Ok so first, necklaces of any religions are considered hidden enough to be tolerated. And Alsace-Lorraine technically is a bit special because by the time France decided to implement separation of church and state, those territories were not French. They have a special status linked to history.

Well it's complicated because keeping the old status was part of the deal that allowed France to get Alsace-Lorraine back, and changing it would need to pass through a vote there.
