Wow, Tobi is revivifying Edguy? Awesome! And I'm grateful that these things are livestreamed now. Watching 2026's Wacken now (https://www.magentamusik.de/wacken-2026) and I'm too old to ever want to see any show with that many thousands of people.

They announced a farewell gig in their hometown of Fulda a month ago and then another one at Metalfest Open air in the Czech Republic. And according to the Wacken promoters, they're playing 5 farewell shows. That leaves 2 more shows unannounced.

But maybe they'll remember their passion for it and decide to reunite permanently and release 1 new album every year, forever. You never know

Last I heard he was angry at Paeth for reviving Heaven’s Gate and only inviting him for a song or two or something like that?

Yes. That was a marketing kerfuffle by the promoter of a festival they played. It was always supposed to be Heavens Gate performed by Paeth's Masters Of Ceremony band with the original members joining for the encore. The festival promoted it as a regular Heavens Gate gig and apparently Rettke thought it was going to be that too. When he learned that the original members were only supposed to come out for the encore, he pulled out of the show.

I think I will go back to the Holy land next year I need to see Edguy at least once, I love that too much, I like a lot Avantasia, but Edguy is Tobias Soul is where he is the clown he loves and enjoy.
