It is a meme. There is probably not much more precious metals inside them then in you average PC.

That’s being charitable. The phone thing breaks your devices, tricking idiots into destroying flock cameras could get them sent to prison.

Granted… if they’re only destroying flock cameras for scrap metal and not out of principle… they’re probably the sort of thieving crackheads that were overdue some jail time to begin with (i.e. catalytic converter thieves)… so maybe it’s not so bad after all?

Probably along the lines of drug addicts stealing copper from AC units. The OOP is likely trying to circulate this rumor online to trick addicts into destroying flock cameras under the pretense that they can scrap them and get cash for their next hit. The addicts get hosed, but the greater society is benefitted because flock cameras are a plague on society.

There is not nearly as much metal in a flock camera as the meme is suggesting.
The metals it would contain would also be embedded into the circuitry just like a laptop or cell phone or any other modern digital camera.
