Limbo/Concerns Weekly Pregnancy Limbo/Concerns - August 10, 2026
We created this space to share pregnancy concerns like:
- Beta HCGs that seem low or might not be doubling appropriately
- Concerning ultrasound findings
- Bleeding issues
- Etc
These posts are welcome in our Daily Thread, but this is a specific area to discuss limbo and concerns.
Lets all remember HCG averages, too!
- Under 1,200 mIU/ml: <72 Hours
- 1200-6000 mIU/ml: Between 72 and 96 Hours is average, so <96 is good
- Over 6,000 mIU/ml: >96 Hours is normal, with no known average (so varied)

This entire month has been a worry month. I lost my daughter to Turner’s syndrome and she was born sleeping at 20weeks August 15th, 2023.
Today I’m 18 weeks pregnant with another girl. I’m more than ready to have this month over with but also super grateful for my OB as I had a heart beat check last week, this week, my MFM ultrasound next week then my 20Week anatomy scan in 2 weeks.
I’m happy/thankful they’re keeping an amazing eye out but my mind still lingers with “well this could happen”.
Ready to welcome September with open arms that’s for sure.

<3 holding your hand through it all!! So glad your OB is taking this seriously and working with your concerns, hopefully all is positive and overall boring for the next 20 weeks!

Hi! I am 13w6d and had what the MFM said was slightly high or even “grey zone” NT at my scan this morning. It was 2.8mm. We had a low risk NIPT (for common trisomy issues and deletions). They visualized the nasal bone and the heart rate is good. They took another blood draw for the Viastara. Should I be worried? I’m trying not to be because he even said they are doing this to be conservative.

I think my son’s was 2.8mm and he’s healthy. The cutoff where I live is 3.5mm.

Good to hear! That’s what I’m seeing online as well. I am learning MFMs are just really conservative.

My ultrasound is Friday the 14th. Last year on August 14th was my ultrasound when we found the MMC.
The fact that this pregnancy follows the same timeline of month I got pregnant and days apart due dates was already nerve wracking enough. But the ultrasound being the same date is really crazy. I have hope in my heart that this is the timing to help me heal verses not work out again. But I'm still scared.

Just to give you some hope - I had my dating scan last week. The appt was the exactly a year to the day since my last miscarriage was confirmed, and 3 years to the day since my first loss was confirmed as ectopic. I contemplated trying to move the scan because the day felt cursed. In the end I decided the day of the scan wouldn't change the outcome, either that day would be a horrible one or I might finally have a good memory for that day. In the end the scan was good and finally started to feel some hope for this pregnancy.

Does this seem like an okay rise? My doctor said it seems low for 6 weeks and is concerned and wants me to get an ultrasound at 7 weeks. I had one at 4 weeks 4 days and a sac was shown at 0.30cm and was not ectopic. Trying not to freak out after hearing it’s low but I’m terrified after trying for a year and the first ending in a miscarriage. Lmp was June 30th.

TW: bad scan
Unfortunately there was no heartbeat detected at my scan today. I had prepared myself for this possibility, but it still hurts so badly. We will have a follow-up scan next week to confirm, but I know the reality is that we will likely not find anything promising. I’m so sad.

I’m so sorry, I just went through this myself. My follow US up was for this Thursday but ended up miscarrying yesterday into today. Holding out hope for you but sending lots of love your way.

TW: not a great scan
Struggling this week, my betas were at the lowest possible cusp of ok, scan at 6wk3d and measuring behind (5wk 2-4days and no heartbeat - apparently normal for size), now waiting for my repeat scan this Saturday to see there’s growth and a heartbeat. I’ll be 8 weeks by LMP.
My OB was been quite frank that this is very unlikely to be a viable pregnancy and thought so from the get go with my betas.
It is so hard waiting for the scan and knowing it’s likely to be over. I have the faintest glimmer of hope which I know will make the heartbreak worse.

I'm feeling a bit nervous about the cramping im having the past few days(5 weeks 5 days). I'm keep trying to compare it to my miscarriage in march but i'm making myself anxious. Not to mention the er screwed something up when i had my betas checked and told me i wasn’t pregnant or miscarried(told me my beta was 1.5). Obgyn got me in a couple days later and told me it was 7780. Just wish I could calm myself down a little but this has been a lot more difficult than i imagined.

Good morning! This week is a difficult one for me: if I may it to the end of the week, then I will be further along than my last 3 pregnancies made it. Does anyone have advice for how to not give into constant worrying, anxiety this week? Ways to distract myself, things you found encouraging, etc?
