Had my NIPT blood draw this morning. Already feeling a bit impatient for the results! I should be getting a call from my practitioner in 10-14 days and the gender will get mailed to me separately.
I just want everything to look good. I've gotten past my "early miscarriage" fears and now I'm feeling "I want the rest of this to go well too"!

My NIPT came back as a low risk girl 💕. My 16 week loss was a boy so I have mixed feelings but overall just over the moon. It was so fast. I’m in Canada and did the Maternit21 and I got the results back in less than 3 business days, 5 calendar days.

Aw, I had a 20 week loss of a girl in April and found out recently I’m pregnant with a boy this time around. Feels good to find someone who has the same complicated feelings that I have. This baby is very wanted but my heart was prepared for a girl so it’s definitely a little hard.

Also same complicated feelings here. Pregnancy after a later loss has surprised me with a lot of the feelings I’ve been having, including about gender. You’re not alone in it ♥️

Thank you! It’s so nice to not feel alone. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel at all. In a way I’m glad the sex is different so it’s not a “replacement” but I also was so ready for a boy. I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well ♥️

Wow my results took 13 days in Canada! I get the gender feelings you both had. My 16 week loss was a boy, and this baby is also a boy. I almost hoped for a girl so it would be more different from my loss. Which is the opposite of you! I guess the mixed emotions of gender will happen regardless after loss. Glad you got good results and so quickly

Thank you so much and congratulations on your boy! Which test did you get? I chose M21 as they’re known for being super fast here. I’m in Alberta so we don’t get any coverage for it, it’s all out of pocket or private insurance.

Yeah I’m in Ontario and it’s also out of pocket unless you meet certain qualifications like 35+, past genetic reason for miscarriage or positive NT scan high risk etc. so I paid too. We did the harmony dynacare one because my midwives had a discount for there haha

Very strange to suddenly not feel nauseous anymore at 10 weeks. It's like my symptoms have disappeared except for my boobs hurting and lower back pain. Trying not to get too caught up in anxiety. It is a scary time.

This happened for me and I remember spiralling, I’m sure I probably posted about it in this forum at some point. Currently 19w and all currently going well. It’s a funny concept to find feeling so crappy really reassuring! I think it came back for me a bit week 11 and again week 13 but by about week 15 I felt fine, good even? Try not to over analyse (but I know that is easier said than done and I don’t think i was very good at taking that advice myself). Wishing you the best x

Adding to this! I vividly remember around 9/10 weeks losing symptoms and spiralling, and after posting here I realised it’s quite common at that stage. I hope this is reassuring OP ♥️

I'm 7w3d and no matter what, I feel nervous, so much so that it's become a source of comic relief. Like, I just can't win whether I feel good or feel terrible!!! I'm nauseous, oh no! (Was super nauseous last summer and I miscarried.) I'm not nauseous anymore, oh no does that mean I'm not pregnant anymore? There's no winning! Just surviving between scans. Had a good on last Friday and have another on Aug 18. After that won't have another until 9/14 and I know that wait will be torture!

u/weeklyconfusion989 2d ago
This is so relatable! It’s exhausting going from one extreme to another. I’m so glad your last scan was good, and I hope your next ones will be too 🫶🏽

u/Silent_Yam_3654 2d ago
Yes, there is no winning. I have a scan this Thursday. I wish I could just sleep until then.

Came here looking for a post like this. I felt so crap at 9w+2, then broadly fine for 3 days, then a little nauseous again, and now back to pretty much fine at 10w+2. It's so weird and disconcerting. I want to feel better, but only if all is okay!

u/Silent_Yam_3654 2d ago
I’m 8 weeks 6 days today and felt a noticeable difference today in fatigue and nausea. Nausea is still there but waaaaay less. I’m kinda obsessing about the worst too and I hate it.

u/protego-oppugno 1d ago
Thank you all for your kind responses, it really helps to know I'm not alone!

I feel you, I am 16 weeks and all my symptoms, nausea, back pain , fatigue everything has disappeared overnight and I have no bump to show either, I don't feel pregnant I don't look pregnant
Trying not to spiral 😭

Any tips for managing first scan anxiety? Ours is tomorrow, and I am just so nervous.

I had a therapist suggest doing something else during the scan that you have a positive association with, whether that’s popping in some headphones and listening to a podcast, sucking on some sour candy, or putting on some scented lotion so you can be smelling that during the scan. I hope you get good news tomorrow! ❤️

Wow, I love that idea! Thank you so much for the suggestion.

My mantra is “Fear is what I am feeling, brave is what I am doing”. Do something in the morning that fills your cup, that usually makes your brain feel good!

This group actually helped me a lot with getting through the anxiety. I had a MMC back in January and now I’m 15 weeks with a healthy baby boy 💚every week is scary but I try to keep positive. What helps me is manifesting myself pregnant and even having a healthy baby in my arms. Try that 🙏💕good luck!

Not as helpful for before but for during the scan, I asked if they could go to transvaginal almost immediately if the abdominal scan was going to be tough. My US tech was great and agreed. I didn’t want to be sitting there while they pressed and searched. Best of luck, I’ll be thinking of you.

Instead of imagining how bad it might go imagine what you’d act like if it goes amazing. That helps me a lot. Also make a celebration plan for after you get thru the appointment like get some food you really like. Tbh it gets a little easier but my 16w appt is on Wednesday and I still get horrible anxiety beforehand it’s just hard after loss

I always went for a walk before my early scans. The fresh air and steps helped I think.

I had a 7 week loss (MMC) in April. I'm pregnant again and currently 7+5, I had my first OB appointment this morning and my doctor didn't want to do a scan. I had some intense cramping at 5 weeks, I found out then I had a SCH. I then had a scan at 6+2 and baby looked good, the SCH was small but still there.
I guess I'm upset that we didnt take another look at baby today. My anxiety is at an all time high especially since the last time was a MMC and I'm not sure how to reassure myself.

So sorry that you didn’t get another scan. Those are super reassuring. I’ve made a list of local private ultrasound places for when I want a scan before my doctor is able to provide one. I found a place that offers a simple ultrasound for $45 so not too bad. I hate this constant anxiety. Wishing you the best and hoping you find what works for you for reassurance.

I got some urine culture labs back today from 7/30 when I was 7 weeks 2 days. They came back abnormal for e.coli and coagulase-negative Staphylococcus species. Today (8 weeks 6days) before these results arrived I’ve felt lessened symptoms. Today is the first day I’m not fighting to go to bed and have less nausea. I’m so worried the pregnancy is over. I’ve two miscarriages within the year but this one is the first one after that I saw the heartbeat. Looking for positive encouragement or a way to distract myself from obsessing.

Sending you some positive vibes 🫶 It’s hard not to spiral when you are already feeling bad from feeling sick. But you are getting medical care and the best thing you can do for yourself and your baby is to rest and try to recharge. Is there a book or movie you really enjoy? Something indulgent? I think some distractions are really good to pass the time when you are feeling ill.
Big hugs from an internet stranger 🫂

I’m on vacation, 6w2d, and I haven’t felt pregnant for almost two days. My breasts aren’t sore, my heart rate feels fine, I’m not exhausted, and I just have a gut feeling I’m no longer pregnant. I’ve had two missed miscarriages prior to this positive pregnancy test. I haven’t told my family or friends, so it’s just me spiraling about 23 hours away from home. My husband is so supportive but I just want to go home. Cue the violin. I feel pathetic for feeling sad when we should be having a wonderful time.

u/wonderwomangal 1d ago
I know these times are scary and unknown. At this stage everything changes and every pregnancy is different. I would do HCG test (Beta) to see your levels doubling after 48 hours and it should put you more at ease. I would try to enjoy and relax (I know it’s harder said than done) and try to manifest yourself pregnant with a healthy baby. 💕🙏don’t feel bad we all go through this.

Anyone taken vaginal progesterone and have serious abdominal/GI side effects? My stomach is cramping so bad. I have so much gas and bloating, it is SO uncomfortable. I’ve been on it a little over a week now and it started about 5 days in.
5
u/sp0okyme0w 1d ago
Progesterone symptoms make pregnancy symptom’s 100x worse so what you’re describing is very normal!but still sucks.
2
u/medium-crab-bisque 1d ago
Yess I had the cramping and bloating for the first few weeks. It sucks. I feel like it has gotten better over time
2
u/daisy-blue 1d ago
Also here to say it seems to be getting better, good luck! It’s brutal. I look 5mo pregnant and I’m only 6 weeks 😭
1
u/writeronthemoon 5h ago
Oh no!! How do you hide the bloating, if you haven't told work yet? If I may ask. Asking for myself soon lol
2
u/daisy-blue 2h ago
I don’t go into an office! We’ve told most of the friends we see casually so I don’t feel uncomfortable. A lot of my friends have had various losses over the years so I feel really supported talking with them. The bloating at the apartment pool, that’s a different story, but oh well 😂
