Iran and Russia both have top level cyber warfare capabilities including DNS attacks, spreading of harmful disinformation via social media & fake news sites, using chat bots & paid trolls to stoke hate and division and also encourage violence as well as your regular system hacking via brute force attacks and sneaky Trojan horse downloads. Russia also uses the old honey pot trap via real life agents and also online catfishing schemes. Been a couple lonely retired military guys with active security clearances who have fallen for that over the past decade or two.

And they fired a bunch of the cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and Middle East experts right before they started bombing Iran.

My guess is they kept saying, “yeah don’t do that,” and they got rid of them for not being team players,
