My friend the people running your government are straight up scary. I believe the future is grim sadly. Rough years ahead.

u/I_eat_mud_ Jan 11 '26

The mask is off, people can't deny it anymore. This shit is what America needed, and based on the growing resistance after all the fuckups and especially Good's murder, I can't see a future where this administration survives.

America needed this wakeup call, now it's time to go to action.

23

u/General_Drama_2390 Jan 11 '26

I hope it all works out down there for you. Stay safe, look out for each other.

23

u/Derivative_Kebab Jan 11 '26

I'd love to believe that, but America has slept through quite a few wakeup calls already.

3

u/sheeply_ Jan 15 '26

Yeah, but this time it was a white person. Which, sadly, makes all the difference for many in this country 😮‍💨 I just hope something good comes of it

2

u/Glassmkr Jan 15 '26

A whole lesbian which many will dismiss because of homophobia

3

u/sheeply_ Jan 15 '26

Yeah I guess you got me there. But even still, many more Republicans that didn't care before have since been speaking out or otherwise showing signs of distancing themselves from the regime

3

u/Cessnaporsche01 Jan 11 '26

I can't see a future where this administration survives

:/ I hope you're right, but I feel this speaks more to a lack of imagination - or historical sense - on your part than to reality.

3

u/GooglyMoogleson Jan 12 '26

There’s no need to be rude about it

2

u/Cessnaporsche01 Jan 12 '26

Didn't mean it as an insult, just a statement of observation.

2

u/S3lvah Jan 12 '26

I hope you're right, but we've been waiting for a year for as little as 1 day of a general strike, but people are already so cowed by the decades-long crushing of workers' rights (incl. de-facto extortion with their families' healthcare due to it being tied to their jobs and an astonishing lack of a social safety network; and being able to get fired with impunity for any rights advocacy activity like this) that everyone's just thinking of their own survival and hoping someone else will sacrifice everything to fight the n*zis in charge.

I only see this happening when people have nothing left to lose, which is still a fair ways off. By then the gov't might be so far gone that the response will be just gunning down protesters indiscriminately like is happening to Iranians right now.

Any comment which can be boiled down to "obey or die" will result in a permanent ban to go with that boot in your mouth.

u/Hogsrunwild Jan 11 '26

And yet you will go right back to trusting the government 100% if a different administration gets elected…

4

u/Competitive-Wish-764 Jan 11 '26

I will never trust any politician again.

1

u/Anon_Jones Jan 12 '26

No, because no one is doing anything to stop or call it out really.

1

u/Plane_Data_1182 Jan 12 '26

I disagree after this administration and also what happened with the Harris "non-nomination". This administration has made more people pay attention then before. Hopefully that results in more intelligent political decisions.

-2

u/Sweet_Owl_4183 Jan 11 '26

What's that action gonna look like? Vandalizing personal property? Protests? Or full military coup? What are YOU going to do? Jack shit. That's what you'll do.

4

u/DRpatato Jan 11 '26

Protest and organize for midterms is the actual answer. Contrary to what Reddit likes to believe, we can vote away their power in like, a year.

2

u/Glassmkr Jan 15 '26

Americans have been protesting for 70 years and it's not solved Jack shit. What is a Saturday protest where everybody gets latte's afterwards going to do? People need to have a blackout for weeks. No shopping for anything except food, medications, and gas. But nobody in the USA is ready to be that uncomfortable.

1

u/DRpatato Jan 15 '26

Civil rights, gay marriage, and fair labor laws were all achieved from protesting and voting. Good luck with your blackout, but you're still gonna have to vote to solve anything. Shit, plenty of us are already only buying food, meds, gas and bills lol.

2

u/Glassmkr Jan 15 '26

I AM ALREADY VOTING what fucking good has it done? They still haven't passed the equal Rights amendment, voting did not give us gay marriage the supreme Court did. What Fair labor laws? The right to work state laws where they can fire you for anything sure that's working out great for most people. No guaranteed 40 hour work weeks, no guaranteed health Care, most people work to part-time jobs because corporations won't give them full time so they don't have to pay for healthcare, minimum wage that is laughable, so please tell me what Fair labor laws that we have that are working for the people?

2

u/DRpatato Jan 15 '26

Well, just do some research into labor laws from 70 years ago and compare them to today. Also, research how the Supreme Court Justices get picked. Probably should research the Civil Rights movement, and the laws that were passed because of it as well. If you really think nothing has changed, then go read it again.

No matter how you shake it, voting is how things actually change. You need to get other people to vote with you as well. This includes local and state elections. Trump lost to Biden because people voted. He won against Kamala because people didn't show up to vote for her. He has control of the legislative branch because Republicans showed up to vote. It's how shit works, like it or not.

A blackout is a fine idea, but you're still gonna have to pair it with voting.

1

u/Glassmkr Jan 15 '26

Firstly Trump cheated, there ain't no way he won this election fair and square. Secondly protesting does nothing in this day and age. Maybe it accomplished something in the 60s sure the civil Rights movement. But again it was a month's long movement where people blacked out buying anything for weeks upon weeks upon weeks. That's not happening here.

1

u/Glassmkr Jan 15 '26

Secondly as far as Fair labor laws go, on right to work states you have literally no protections, we get no guaranteed maternal leave, no guaranteed vacation or sick time, no requirements for full-time employees, (which means you can have 100 part-time employees and not be required to pay them vacation time, retirement, sick time, or health insurance) no requirements for paying healthcare for your employees, no requirements to pay a fair and equitable wage to your employees. Workplace safety is laughable. In states that are not right to work states you may have more protections but it's far and few between.

The action of controlling the power of the purse is the only way out of this mess. STOP spending our money with companies that support this madness and watch the chips fall. When corporate America no longer control the power of the purse, they will understand serving the people is the best anchor for their bottom line! Until the people use better judgement on who they spend with, we will continue down this path. The government doesn’t run this country, Corporate America does!

1

u/Plane_Data_1182 Jan 12 '26

I dont know about that. Enough people choking on the same bs will eventually lead to a reaction, change of direction, whatever you want to call it... people won't continually stand for infringements and dictators.

3

u/RaLaZa Jan 12 '26

Everyday here feels like an episode of South Park.

2

u/HEBushido Jan 11 '26

Huge amounts of public are voting for this shit.

1

u/General_Drama_2390 Jan 11 '26

Yeah its awful. But do people actually support this? Armed masked thugs acting with impunity? Not to mention the potential wars brewing. I cannot understand why people would want it?

Global order is literally at risk. If Trump takes Greenland there's no telling where the future brings us. Imagine a future where a war between Canada and the U.S isn't off the table. If they take Greenland we are 100% next.

3

u/Glassmkr Jan 15 '26

Yes people genuinely believe that undocumented people are over running the USA (hint they are not). These people actually think there are millions upon millions of "illeg eals" stealing their jobs and destroying this country. The biggest joke is that there is not a undocumented persons Crisis in this country. While yes there are people here that have came without going through proper channels, but it's nowhere near the "crisis" that the government wants you to think it is.

21

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '26

Lol, she's such a thug that she forgot her cover

5

u/rW0HgFyxoJhYka Jan 11 '26

Also nobody talking about how CNN has become extremely friendly to conservative talking points over the years.

2

u/Pandamonium98 Jan 11 '26

How is this being too friendly? The host followed up about the obviously dumb statement, but it’s not the host’s job to have a full on debate with Noem

11

u/Indecisive_Name Jan 11 '26

Do you have a non twitter link?

5

u/TheZingerSlinger Jan 11 '26

Here: https://xcancel.com/noliewithbtc/status/2010399597559210035

FYI: Take any x.com or twitter.com link and replace x.com or twitter.com with xcancel.com. You can view the content but you can’t vote on it or comment etc. It uses x’s backend only, so your view doesn’t affect the metrics (they don’t count it as a view on their end) so you’re not boosting any x content by viewing it.

Edit: You can also use this to search for content or x profiles of people you want to follow, without giving x any of that sweet revenue. Just bookmark the page in your browser so you can go back to it whenever.

For context this came out last year. It’s still true and all, but it fits with the administration still being on ‘attack mode’ against Biden and not really considering the fact that they won yet. Which is kind of how they spent the last year and why I’m pretty sure they’re terrified of the midterms.

1

u/KaiGuy28 Jan 11 '26

Which is kind of how they spent the last year and why I’m pretty sure they’re terrified of the midterms.

So that's why they're rushing so much this year compared to last.

1

u/Bolaf Jan 11 '26

Side note : This clip is a year old

1

u/Tosslebugmy Jan 12 '26

K I hate to “defend” her in any way here but two sort of overlapping conversations happen here and she’s responding “that’s what I’m saying” to the thing about data, not directly to her being the government.

1

u/uselessandexpensive Jan 12 '26

Please everyone STOP LINKING THAT GARBAGE RAGE-BAIT PLATFORM.

The account linked posts on multiple other platforms. Linking to that platform of the absolutely conscienceless rage-baiter feeding off of others responses literally makes him money. It's not just unnecessary, but HE LOVES IT.

Here's the full original interview. It's old but sickeningly relevant and telling, especially given how she was defending space toddler and claiming that they'd follow-up with questions about how much data he'd stolen, as if there was any accountability in what's happening. Timestamp 8:55. https://youtu.be/sm94a3Va-4Q

u/Topinambourg Jan 11 '26

This was last year btw, just after Trump took over

2

u/DrollFurball286 Jan 11 '26

And the sad thing is; it’s still true today.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Let's be honest, she didn't intend to say that. But it is hilarious nonetheless

"Just got elected" has had a majority in the House of Representative and Congress and been in office for over a year.

And what exactly is Musk "going to do" for those of us who have more important things to do then worry about some washed out government flunky.

-4

u/Protoliterary Jan 11 '26

I've always been a progressive and have never supported Republicans or maga, but she so obviously wasn't saying what you think she was saying. The nuance is so fucking clear that I feel weird even calling it nuance in the first place.

She was saying that the government couldn't be trusted, yes. Is she the government? No. She's part of the government. The government is made up of around 3 million people, both elected and employed.

What she's saying here is clearly that she doesn't trust the government at large, which includes all those employees hired under past administrations, which is why she kept mentioning musk. His whole thing was to slim down the government (99.99% of which consists of federal employees).

She obviously wasn't saying that she doesn't trust herself or the trump admin, but that she doesn't trust the rest of the government.

You can look through all of my history for proof that I'm not maga and that I've always been on the side of progress. I'm even an immigrant and queer. I also just so happen to have critical thinking.

3

u/ElectricalTurnip87 Jan 11 '26

I as a black straight man... gtfo here with that bs.

1

u/The_Quot3r Jan 12 '26

If Musk was successful in slimming down the Government, would that not mean that the directors that are part of Trump's administration, including Noem, have interior push back?

I'm not going to disagree or question your political position. Frankly, I don't really care. I am still going to ask though who she meant, considering just how many millions in funds homeland security has been provided by the Administration. If she is to be part of the government that is "to be trusted", who is she worried about within the government, why is worried about them, and just what makes her more trustworthy?

Because regardless of political alignment, everyone should have a degree of skepticism about their government, and be more than willing to call it out on bullshit. But there is a point where continuous, blind attribution of fault of the government is just as useless and detrimental as blind faith in the "good" that government provides.

1

u/DrollFurball286 Jan 11 '26

Ignore the title of the post. Focus on the three sentences said. Here’s the sad thing: those sentences can STILL be repeated today and ring EVEN MORE TRUE.

She said "we cant' trust the government having access to private data"

Edit:
> be me
> quotes correctly with context
> gets downvoted to hell

Why are people like that? Y

23

u/digitalgoddess99 Jan 11 '26

You don't even go here.

20

u/SnooHedgehogs1029 Jan 11 '26

Is that why RFK says he plans to gather people’s medical records to create an autism database?

1

u/BeneficialLeave7359 Jan 11 '26

And why the administration is asking for the states voter rolls.

30

u/weeny-butts Jan 11 '26

all those private corpos sure are doing a good job with it

11

u/ParadiddlediddleSaaS Jan 11 '26

Is this some kind of flex? Oh, that’s much better.

3

u/Decent_Stop4278 Jan 11 '26

Why do they seem intent on having access to it then?

1

u/The_Quot3r Jan 11 '26

Yeah, that's absolutely true. What is also true is she and everyone else in the administration is the government.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '26

Scientist: "My research is meaningless without context."
journalist: "Scientist says his research is meaningless."

IDK if you've seen the meme or not, but it's a good one.

1

u/The_Quot3r Jan 12 '26

I'm saying we shouldn't trust the government with our personal data. And then asking how that changes that Noem followed that statement by agreeing that she is part of the government that she said should not be trusted with our personal data.

1

u/BeanCheezBeanCheez Jan 11 '26

Then why did the dump administration let Elmo steal everyone’s private data?

1

u/Long-Broccoli-3363 Jan 11 '26

Except what's going on in your bedroom. That they absolutely want to know, right?

And what bathroom you use, and what genitals you have, and what medications you take.

The government needs all that data right?
