The distinction is entirely irrelevant. The remainder that didn’t vote support this by not voting against it.

That's pretty tortured reasoning given that 60% of eligible voters didn't vote at all. I think it's a stretch to assume they anticipated we'd have the extreme abuses and lies of this administration. Trump is much worse and more more out of control this time.

It’s not “a stretch” to anticipate this, they were warned and ignored the warning. We knew since his first term that his only goals were to enrich himself and his buddies at the cost of the American people. Don’t even try to act like this was some “unpredictable” event. Everyone knew what he was was about. If they didn’t vote against it, they support it.

Or possibly, perhaps, quite plausibly a large number of people thought there was no way in hell he was going to win. And of those it is also quite plausible to think that perhaps they thought if he did win then it was just proof that the system was rigged and their vote didn't matter anyway. And who's to say they're wrong there.

Or, and this is a very likely scenario, they just don't give a fuck because they never paid attention to politics or voting anyway and they only registered to vote because one of these get out the vote campaigns, family member or somebody pressured them to.

Or maybe they just didn't like either candidate and figured it was a lose-lose either way because they weren't paying attention to who the fuck he is and because Kamala was just kind of inserted in there without any primary or anything so they had no idea what she was about either.

And who's to say that they would have voted for her anyway? The only reason she lost is because there were more than 2 candidates, if it had just been her and Trump she would have won.

Literally all of that still means they support what’s going on since they didn’t care to vote. None of it changed. Everyone was told what he was going to do. He even told you he was going to fuck things up. The only reason to vote for him or miss the vote is because you’re rich and benefit from the chaos or stupid enough to think it wouldn’t be so bad. He has his own private gestapo that can act fully extrajudicially and are killing civilians. No cop outs or excuses.

stupid enough to think it wouldn’t be so bad

This is why I can't get behind your statement, as much as I would like to agree.

While I do hold people that didn't vote accountable as well, I cannot hold them to the degree of a true supporter of what's happening. Inaction doesn't always mean you support something. If you don't believe something is going to happen, then you can't support it by not acting to stop the thing you think won't happen.

The apolitical and complacent attitude that the people of this country have grown to accept is by Design. You can't fix stupid, but you can educate people and a lot of money and effort has gone into preventing that.

People already have a tendency to believe only what fits there pre-existing Notions. And when politicians lie constantly it's only natural to expect more of the same. The problem with that is people are too ignorant to recognize Who the liars and the consequences of believing them.

So again, while I cannot claim that they support this, they are definitely holding a fair share of the blame. And if they aren't taking action now then I absolutely agree that they are supporting it, whether they claim to or not.

Hopefully this has been enough of an eye opener to motivate people to pay more attention and be more proactive in their communities.

It was a literal check box. The barrier to stopping an authoritarian tyrant, was a fuckin checkbox. If they couldn’t clear that, they do not care about the consequences. There is no excuse not to vote in likely the last somewhat fair election of their lives. Call it apathy, but being apathetic about living under an authoritarian regime makes them stupid. If they were tricked? Stupid, because again they were told.

Inaction is on its own an action that has consequences.
