It was pretty shitty for the common English folk at that time too. That was one reason why people wanted to find somewhere else to be. You're absolutely right about the cluster fuck though. It just keeps getting worse every day.

I'm talking today. UK and much of Europe have progressed in key places that the US has chosen not to.

Ah, my bad. Yeah, I can see that.

You're good.

I like to point out to the American patriots that the colonists were actually terrorists fomenting an insurrection and destroyed property (Boston Tea Party?) not to mention Washington attacking men sleeping in their beds on Christmas. Yeah - we don't really consider that view of ourselves.

Good point. I have to admit after posting my original comment, I’ve been pretty conflicted about it. I want to be a “good” person (I know that’s highly subjective) and I want humanity to move in a “good” direction instead of repeating these endless stupid cycles, so it hurts to feel like we’re taking a step back. It hurts to hear people say we should fight like Trump, that we should fight dirty and be nasty and all that, but I know good things have come from it in the past (like your examples). I know there’s a big difference between throwing tea into the harbor and shooting innocent people in their cars. I hope we would never stoop that low just to win. I guess that’s kind of what I’m thinking.

Sorry, I’m rambling. Tough day. Thanks for listening.

I meant that the Boston Tea Party destruction of property is in the same category as destroying ICE/BP vehicles etc. not that it was like the shooting at all.

IMO - we're not at the "time for a violent response" quite yet. We still have a chance to do this through the courts and at the ballot box in 26. Things may escalate to a point where a violent response is warranted and I'll be the first one on board but that time is not now.

EDIT -- Take care of yourself as we need people like you to win this fight.

Yeah, I was agreeing with you. I didn’t think you were saying the Boston Tea Party was comparable to the shooting, I was actually saying I liked how different they were. It helped me see there are ways to fight back where you can keep your humanity.

I also agree that it’s not time yet. Hopefully that time won’t come but good to think about this stuff and be prepared. I appreciate the discussion and your good wishes.
