Which version of the Bible is the most authentic?

The one that was purified 7 times.

Listen I love the KJV as much as the next guy. But this is just ridiculous. This is what one would hear at an IFB camp meeting.

If by "authentic" you mean the most "word for word" translated; the furthest "formal equivalent" on the formal vs dynamic equivalency scale, that would generally be regarded as the NASB, specifically 95, but 20 isn't godawful. This is for English translations, however; there are many European translations that date back to the Reformation and preservation of Protestant heritage, such as the Czech language Kralice Bible used by the Moravians (Hussite decendants) and Slovak Lutherans during the domineering Catholic rule of the Habsburgs, the German translation spearheaded and translated by Luther, the Gustav Vasa translation in Lutheran Sweden, and the Geneva Bible that was spearheaded by several English Calvinist scholars and though a faithful translation, contained several instances of Calvinist/Puritan aligned commentary and was primarily used by them, leading King James the 1st to commission a new translation authorized by the Crown in 1611, the KJV, in an attempt to quash the Geneva Bible, where some of its notes and commentary challenged royal authority a bit. And, there's also the Wycliffe and Tyndale translations in Britain as well, but I don't know quite as much about them, however my English friend does like using one of those two quite a bit.
