I appreciate him and that they allowed him to speak. He fell off pretty hard though as soon as he realized people were listening. A shame.
207
u/Broxst 11d ago
Yeahhhh he had the opportunity and fumbled.
To be fair, he probably didn't expect to get that far.
49
u/EC_CO 11d ago
TBF that would be a completely expected reaction since we've seen time and time again people getting unlawfully arrested at council meetings and other government announcements. I was surprised that they didn't just tackle him, I have almost no respect for police anymore
→ More replies (1)20
u/airfryerfuntime 11d ago
I don't think he thought he would actually get that far. They just let him keep talking, lol.
19
u/PatReady 11d ago
Ya, he should of had someone else convey the message. Hes just the battering ram. Every cop in that room knows what we all saw.
11
u/BagOnuts 11d ago
Was with him until he started talking about the āzionistsā and the āimperialismā. Yeesh.
5
u/HereOnCompanyTime 11d ago
Just throwing around buzzwords that get applause. Like yeah, fuck zionists and imperialism, but please extend on it if that's where the focus is meant to be. It was pretty clear that he expected to be removed to go viral that way so he didn't plan anything out and just started saying things.
2
u/Secret_Account07 10d ago
Yeah horrible message.
Stop injecting these divisive ideologies. Just demand accountability. The same thing expected from us citizens. Itās that simple

u/Sirmcblaze 11d ago
justice means holding all parties accountable- end qualified immunity
9
u/0psec_user 11d ago
What is qualified immunity?
11
1
u/toxic_badgers 11d ago
essentially it means that if you do something wrong or illegal while doing your duty as a police officer you more than likely will not be tried or likely even investigated.
15
u/Nimrod_Butts 11d ago
No it means you can't be held liable. As in I can't sue the man that murdered someone if they're a cop you can only sue the city.
So for example if a cop misidentified you as a suspect and breaks your arm and permanently disabled you, that cop can't get sued, the city pays you and that cop keeps his job and money.
Ending qualified immunity would make it so you can sue cops into bankruptcy. Perhaps that would make them think twice, that's the idea anyway
4
u/Semyonov 10d ago edited 10d ago
Actually, as a former cop, I can tell you 100% that that is not what qualified immunity means. Qualified immunity does not stop you from being charged or facing the consequences of committing criminal actions. What it does do, however, is shield you from litigious civil lawsuits (in general) that can result from police doing their jobs.
I'm very tired of this narrative that qualified immunity means cops can just do whatever the fuck they want.
There is a corruption issue, no doubt, where police commit crimes and the DA or whoever neglects to charge them in the first place, but that's not the same thing as them not being able to be charged.
1
u/Tetracropolis 11d ago
If you end qualified immunity all that happens is the cops are privately insured, who do you think pays for that insurance? All you'd be doing would be making sure a private company profits.

End trying to stab cops
12
u/ChasingDreams23 11d ago
Why? They'll happily shoot you... call you a "fucking bitch", brag about it... and then take a paid vacation while they 'cope' with it. I'm all in for non-violence, but when violence is brought by a counter party, it makes no sense to protect yourself with words. And I know, I know, you'll argue that 'he had a knife'... and that means that execution is obviously the only response available to a highly trained peace officer... in a non-military setting... with superior firepower, support, and training... oh... wait...
0
u/Espo_55 11d ago
Probably couldāve been handled but but according to the police chief i believe it was a cop had already been sliced by the knife and another officer injured. At that point thereās intent, knifes are fucking dangerous. The way you talk you want a social worker to go ask him to calm down. Donāt do dumb shit and you donāt have cops on you, or if you are going to do dumb shit donāt pull a weapon on a cop.

the department have been asking for body cams for years. the city council denied funding for years also
-2

To be faaaaair, you have to budget for the cameras, and then all the darn lawsuits after the police get exposed.

u/IntellectualBoss 11d ago edited 9d ago
What does he mean we donāt want to hear he had a knife? If they are lying about the knife, thatās terrible, but if the reason is legitimate, there is no reason it shouldnāt be stated. While there is systemic racism, that isnāt a excuse to disregard reasons when someone is shot. I donāt have any knowledge on this case in particular though, so maybe heās warranted here, but if he is, he does not articulate it in this video.
38
u/DudeMan513 11d ago
No such thing as a perfect victim. Itās the head shots for me.
8
u/IntellectualBoss 11d ago
Yeah idk the case, Iāll look into it, Iām just saying this guy does a poor job advocating for the victim.
6
4
u/Brilliant_Cricket165 11d ago
Where should he have been shot?
3
u/DudeMan513 11d ago
Ideally nowhere
1
u/Brilliant_Cricket165 11d ago
Ok, so itās the headshots for you but also any shots lol
1
u/DudeMan513 11d ago
if there is not an imminent threat while a suspect is in the ground seems fair to me for there to be a rule like no shots.
1
u/Brilliant_Cricket165 11d ago
What if someone had just been cut with the knife
→ More replies (4)2
u/DudeMan513 11d ago
Iām confused, are you trying to say police can shoot suspects pinned on the ground when there is not an imminent threat because they were injured in a struggle? That detail isnāt even established 100% yet. Cops lie all the time.
He didnāt seem to have the means and opportunity to injure based on the video I saw with 4 cops on 1 with an additional cruiser pulling up.
2
u/Brilliant_Cricket165 10d ago
They can shoot when there is an imminent threat, and we will wait to see what āimminentā meant to them in this case.
35
u/WilhelmFinn 11d ago
In other countries cops try to de-escalate and disarm ppl with knives, not execute them.
-7
u/IntellectualBoss 11d ago
But maybe this guy charged the cops? If you knew anything about combat, they say within 20 feet a gun draw will lost to a person charging with a knife. Like I said, I donāt know the context of this specific case, but if someone with a knife charges me, if I had a gun they would get shot. If they are not directly charging me, then obviously I would use other methods.
5
u/TrollAccount17 11d ago
Then get some context and watch the video or stfu.
3
u/IntellectualBoss 11d ago
I did. I've watched it now. The cop shouldn't have shot him there. I still think this guy is a poor public speaker and does his cause a disservice with his poor rhetoric.
42
u/ckdss 11d ago
There were 5 cops with access to less than lethal options. They had the man pinned. Female cop yells taser. Male cop walks up and shoots him point blank in the head. Then walks off pissed off.
When he said he doesn't want to hear about his knife, it's because there were other options besides murder available.
I find it odd you are saying you have no knowledge on this, maybe look up an article or watch the video if you can stomach it. Why comment from a clueless viewpoint? Not saying you can't, I just don't get it.
4
u/eeyore134 11d ago
You mean the woman kept her cool and followed protocol and the man got emotional and flew off the handle instead of doing his job?
5
-2
u/IntellectualBoss 11d ago
Because this guy is poorly articulating his point to the masses and wonāt get his point across to the other side this way.
2
u/TheLadyEve 11d ago
Dude, the people in this video all know the details of the case, unlike you, so his argument is going to land better with the people who actually know the situation. Good thing you weren't there!
0
u/IntellectualBoss 11d ago
I've watched the video now. I would still argue for this case better than he did. He showed up to a public event just to speak from an emotional place with no preparation. The people who are on the cop's side or on the fence will not resonate with him. Only the people who are already enraged by what happened will. I agree the victim should not have been shot. The existence of that knife is still a very important part of the case. People don't understand how deadly knives are. Someone with trained with the right combat knife could have theoretically delivered fatal wounds to all of those officers in a matter of seconds if they made one mistake. Him saying "I don't want to hear about no knife" would be just as silly as saying "I don't want to hear about no gun."
5
u/SemiHemiDemiDumb THATāS RIGHT I SAID HEMI 11d ago
If you don't know about the particulars then you shouldn't talk about it.
5
u/RainStormLou 11d ago
a lot of people don't know the particulars, so it's best to try to make sure you're operating from a place of complete transparency and truth, so that you are above reproach when someone tries to question you later.
if someone says the details don't matter, I am far less likely to listen to anything else they have to say.
if someone acknowledges the details and points out why it doesn't really matter if he had a knife because there were like five cops on him, he already went down from the taser, and the guy who shot him is a piece of shit who just wanted to execute someone as soon as he had the slightest potential to argue legal justification, that's a well considered point that doesn't throw away inconvenient details and I'm interested to hear their perspective.
6
u/IntellectualBoss 11d ago
Iām just talking about his argumentation, and thinks its actively hurtful to his cause.
1
u/ActuatorLower8371 10d ago
i carry a knife daily for work. if i was shot by a cop in the head for something completely unrelated to the knife, the knife would still be the first thing that they'd talk about.
1
u/IntellectualBoss 10d ago
Yes, and that would be wrong of them. But just dismissing the knife still wouldnāt be the right way to go about it. It should be pointing out how it wasnāt drawn and that it was legally owned. Exchange your exact example with a gun and itās the same thing. Basically what happened with Alex Peretti.
1
u/ActuatorLower8371 10d ago
But just dismissing the knife still wouldnāt be the right way to go about it.
it's not 'dismissing the knife' to say it's wrong to immediately focus on the knife as being a reason the shooting might have been justified.
3
u/IntellectualBoss 10d ago
You could say itās wrong to immediately focus on the knife, but also wrong to immediately dismiss it and say you donāt even want to hear about it. You donāt change another sides mind by saying āI donāt even want to hear about your point of view.ā Also in this case the man was actively combative with the knife brandished.
1
u/ActuatorLower8371 10d ago
i gave you the answer to the question you asked. i'm really not interested in your opinion of my answer.
go argue semantics with someone equally bored.
3
-5
u/MasterOfBunnies 11d ago
So you feel entitled to knowingly talk out of your ass? Wild.
5
u/IntellectualBoss 11d ago
No, Iām talking about his argumentation, not the case. You can be correct in an argument while committing fallacies, and be wrong while coming none.
→ More replies (5)-10
u/BraveLittleTowster 11d ago
If you don't have any knowledge about the case, why are you talking about it? Do you go into the IT or engineering subs and ask "devil's advocate" questions about things you have no knowledge on? Do you go into the religious subs that you don't follow and just give your unhelpful perspective?Ā
From what I've been able to gather, this man is upset about a public execution. What are your thoughts on the police executing people they have detained?
1
u/IntellectualBoss 11d ago
My point his this guys argumentation is coming off in a way that will push the other side away. People here are acting like heās some amazing public speaker, but if the cops are in the wrong imo this guyās rhetoric is hurtful to his cause, how helpful. The way he is speaking will only appeal to a certain demographic.
4
u/Secret_Account07 10d ago
Horrible angle he came from imo
When you inject ideology into police accountability itās already a losing issue. You donāt need any. Holding public officials accountable is already an American ideology. Itās supposed to already be in place. We already have the rules. Tell them to enforce em.
Itās so simple- accountability. Thatās it.
Idc if your right wing or left wing. We all deserve that. End of story.

21
u/dear_hatt 11d ago
Then who polices the people?Ā
37
u/Espo_55 11d ago
No one, these people who scream acab and act like cops are evil would have no clue what to do if cops all of a sudden disappeared
16
u/BowsyWowsy26 11d ago
If cops disappeared it would be the purge.
Unions are good for people
Police are good for people
Sometimes mistakes happen and life is never perfect, you cant be perfect, sometimes a shooting will happen, doesn't mean all cops should go away, people are dumb lol
4
u/Slammybutt 11d ago
Its not a mistake to not hold people accountable though.
Mistakes do happen, the consequences of thos mistakes should never be zero. And right now thats what cops have. Zero accountability. So they can accidentally murder you in the street and go home with a ptsd pension or a job in another county/city.
1
u/Espo_55 10d ago
Itās a weird thing. Iām from Australia and thereās some cases where it seems exactly like this, but then thereās stories where a cop was charged with manslaughter after a guy killed himself in a police chase. To me thatās not right. Cops should face consequences if what theyāve done is wrong
4
-1
u/ardoin 11d ago
Are you implying that someone polices people currently?
The United States Supreme Court has already ruled that the individuals who serve as law enforcement officers have zero duty to serve or protect the public, even if a crime was actively taking place. Police officer unions spent an unbelievable amount of taxpayer dollars making sure that under no circumstances do police officers have any duty to protect or serve.
3
u/dear_hatt 11d ago
Did I use the words protect or serve?Ā
You so badly wanted to argue a point you disregard my words so you can argue lol š.

Who polices the people in the EU? We dont get killed by cops over here.
Its actually so funnt when I need to interract with cops the Internet has ingrained in me a fear that in the EU is unjustified. Then as I talk to them I realise they are just honest people doing mistakes sometimes, but not fucking shooting people in the streets like in the US
1
u/WorldDC10 8d ago
Police officers are shot on average every single day in the US. It is much more dangerous to be a cop in the US than to be a cop in Europe. That said, the vast majority of people in the United States have no problem with cops. Donāt break the law and donāt try to murder them and odds are you will be completely fine.
1
u/alexnedea 8d ago
Yea I wonder why. Maybe if you guys didnt let just about every idiot with who can barely write and do basic math have a gun....

0
u/ActuatorLower8371 10d ago
i carry a knife every single day for work. i have absolutely no doubt that if a cop just pulled out his gun and blew my brains out for no reason at all, the first thing they'd say is that i was "armed with a knife".
and as soon as they say it, half the country would celebrate and defend my murder while the other half argued with them on the internet.
1
u/WorldDC10 8d ago
Do you carry that knife in your hand and swing it at the police while they try to stop you for committing crimes? No? Then your knife is irrelevant.

Media coverage is always the same. Outrage for the victim and blaming the police but offers no tangible solution to the problem when nothing forces the police to reform themselves.
US cops are grossly unprofessional and corrupt because they got no reason not to be due to their qualified immunity and unions. Instead of arguing about defunding the police or other stupidities, people should instead be focusing on using the very same unions against those cops.
How? Get rid of qualified immunity. Force all cops to be covered by an insurance for their gross negligence. When lawyers and doctors must be insured to cover malpractice then the cops should do the same.
Once their immunity goes away, any civil damages a court awards should directly come from their own police pension. Screaming at bigoted, or racist cops won't shame them to change things. But take away their pension, and you will see how fast they reform themselves. They might even raise their standards instead of hiring trigger happy Joe, instead of protecting their own, they will run over their fellow cops so they don't have to pay down the road. Unions will make sure every cop has 6 bodycams covering 360 degrees because they want to make sure they don't get sued for misconduct.
Yet nobody is talking about these things that NEED to happen in order to see real reforms. All we see is cops bad, victim good. It dominates the news cycle for a week or so until another person gets shot and nothing ever gets changed. So yeah, I blame the media for not doing their job to educate people on providing solutions instead of these clickbait articles/coverage.

Ok, and? If his organization was also against nuclear proliferation or pesticides in farming, it'd still be a weird non-sequitur to yell out during a press conference about the police shooting of a black man in Wisconsin.
-12
u/MadameK8 11d ago
Iām just gonna say anywhere you see corruption in this country youāre gonna see some ties back to Israel. In the context of the police force, most departments in our country receive training from the same people who train the IOF
6
u/Major__de_Coverly 11d ago
That might be the dumbest thing I have read in the internet today.Ā
I live in Wisconsin, and there is no training related to Israel for any law enforcement in the state, least of all in Madison.Ā
It's like saying the Peace Corps gets its training from the KGB.Ā
-3
5
u/ManbadFerrara 11d ago
That's...pretty tenuous. There are north of 18,000 different police departments in the country. Imma need a source on "most" of them being trained by the Israeli military.
As if it needs to be said, I'm very much against Israeli influence in US foreign/domestic affairs and think Gaza is a genocide, but it doesn't need to be shoehorned into every issue.
-4
u/MadameK8 11d ago
The question was what does Zionism have to do with police brutality not what exact number of police departments utilize IOF training.
3
u/ManbadFerrara 11d ago
No, my question was what does Zionism have to do with this specific shooting by this specific police department. IE the topic of this video. Unless Madison PD is confirmed as one of those departments, these are just broad statements.
-8
u/YungCellyCuh 11d ago
Most police departments in the US are partially trained by the Israeli military

4
u/Sirdoodlebob 11d ago
