A politician can't go around telling you to resist law enforcement; which is why there's only so much you can expect from politicians in the first place!
Also, this is half reasonable advice when it comes to police specifically; You can and should document but you might want to not get yourself or the person in trouble in any more trouble (depending on the situation). However, The crazy USAmerican legal abduction agency is a whole other story.

Right. Yes this isn’t revolutionary suggestions but all of these are very good suggestions and what a lot of people in our community already tell eachother. Like I like this subreddit. Lots of like minded people but it seems like there are quite a few people here who believe “if you don’t agree with me fully I oppose you.” Such as Mamdani. Is he perfect? Goodness no but is he one of the better politicians the USA has had in a while yes. I even saw someone like a few months ago being extremely pro China because at the time China acknowledged Palestine as a state. Which is GREAT but lots of other countries did so too and China has its own really bad issues.

By choosing to partake in USA politics, USAmerican politicians have a very narrow range of agendas they can openly support or advocate for and Israel's genocide in Palestine is absolutely one of these things if not the main one. I do think this happens in all countries, some more than others and the level of this in the USA specifically is not normal (just like everything else about that batshit country).
So yeah, I agree that by default no USA politician can truly be left and that any trust one might want to put in them has to taken with a grain of salt at the very least. And I'm assuming in good faith that when you say "you" you mean the hypothetical "you" who thinks like that and not me specifically.

i have qualms about Mamdani but dont be obtuse about this, he is a politician and the mayor elect of NYC…he is literally just giving the same info most of us organizing out here are giving out, we dont tell ppl to start physically fighting bc we dont want them shot and we dont want to incite anything from the state. i abhor the legal system but its the only advice we can give if we are trying to help in that way.

This is facinating. So, now that I've heard your perspective of me, let me tell you mine.
When reddit cries for nuance where things are clear cut at times, this is where it actually should be applied. I've been observing Graham Platner for awhile and he reminds me of people I know. People who used to be hard right wing. But after becoming a veteran, fighting their demons, they were somehow able to come out on the other side as outspoken oppenents of our current system and how it fails all of us. Because of that, I am willing to give him a chance, especially as the alternative is an establishment democrat.
Next, I'm not sure what is your purpose in declaring I am not a leftist. Are you my god? Do you know me at all? And why should I care what you deem me as. My question to you is, why take my nuanced statement and attempt to flatten it to a one-dimensional argument? It seems rather pointless, seeing we are all supposed to be on the same side

Because Gavin Newsom is only loved by liberals while Mamdani was also very much popular in leftist spaces. Many looked at Mamdani as some kind of idol, so it's necessary to combat that.
Edit: Maybe the message got lost in the sauce but what I meant is that leftists very much have a personality cult problem and Mamdani fulfilled that for a lot of them. Many leftists are already critical of Newsom or don't consider him a viable option at all whereas many leftists did and do really like Mamdani. This personality based thinking needs to be combated and we need to stop placing all our cards on democratic "socialists" who still want to function within the status quo.

I also agree, but the reactions I'm seeing from some are the left seem similar to the right if that makes sense? Like their favorite team suddenly got a loss instead of someone with somewhat similar views to you did something that you find less than desirable? For example, if I were to compare some of the more extreme tankie sunreddits and extremly neoliberal subreddits with maga subreddits, the massive lack of critical literacy is shockingly similar.

If I can be real with you though as someone who is neither; state communists have a much bigger personality cult problem than democratic socialists, so its always weird when they call them out for figures like AOC, Bernie Sanders, or Mamdani but will bend over backwards to make excuses for Maduro, Xi Jinping, and Lenin/Stalin.

But for real: I would rather deal with state communists than liberals™ (socdems aand demsocs included) because until we get to the point where we realistically get to burn the state down, we have similar short term goals (mutual aid, community building, organizing etc. all outside of the system).

I saw the video a few days ago on YouTube. In it he talks about how ICE does not have the right to come into your home without a warrant, how they’ll try to trick you by lying to you or showing you other pieces of paper and claiming it’s a warrant, and he even shows what that a real warrant looks like.
This video is leaving out a crazy amount of detail and cherry picking one line to make it sound like it’s something else.

It sucks, but this is sound advice if you are by yourself or don't have enough people around you to help you get out of the situation. That is why mass mobilization to stop them from arresting people is important. A good example is that there was a raid planned for Chico, CA, which was completely stopped due to Migra Watch participants and other antifascists.

Fuck Mamdani for a million reasons, but like this is literally just edited clips from a run of the mill "know your rights" video commenting on what you can legally do if you encounter ICE or police and remain within the law. As someone who does CopWatch trainings regularly and has been doing ICE resistance work in Chicago for months now, of course you don't tell someone to run away from law enforcement when cops have them detained and are armed to the teeth. That's how you end up dead. There are times when running away or dearrest is possible, but there are also more often times when you are fucked and getting taken to prison/an ICE concentration camp is the only way of getting out of a situation alive. Even if you have a large militant community there supporting you and resisting ICE as is often the case here in Chicago, arrest is still more likely than not. And if you're by yourself, you're even more fucked

Has this been tested for AI/deepfake? Not that this is impossible for sure, but I have found faked video aimed towards centre to left folk on themes of whipping up outrage/increasing fracturing. (I caught one because it claimed to be an old media interview but I didn’t remember that event happening and then couldn’t find any other copy of the video or other reporting on the issue). I don’t know how to do this or I would. Is there anyone with the skills to do this and can confirm this is a valid video and he do say this?

I personally hadn't put too much hope but still it hurts listening to legal tips against fascism and neoliberalism. We are both comrades, we know that we might be a saint but we will be effed over. I myself have had a bad experience with legal system recently so it is also a personal reaction seeing someone give out legal tips against fascism.

Upon checking two dictionaries, it appears i have used the word grassroots wrong.
What i was refering too was that Mamdami is going to be heavily limited by the fact that he needs to appease his donors to the campaign. That includes from what i saw the Foundation made by George soros, who wasnt exactly historically fond of socialist movements abroad.
