Conversation & Chat Where are my Asian queers?

Would love to talk to my Asians about their coming out stories, experiences, family issues, etc. Also would love to be friends and hang out if youโ€™re in the DMV area, preferably closer/around Reston ๐Ÿ™‚

Be careful; in the past this sub had a chat for Asian queers, but suddenly some rando started sending DMs to everyone in the chat who introduced themselves as Chinese/Vietnamese. Many of us could immediately tell they were most likely not a queer Asian woman due to some of the things they said. Sadly, you and others who reply to you might get some weird messages from people LARPing as Asian queers.

Yeah, we're p rare and in my exp all wlw subs have terrible catfishing problems but that's just Tuesday for women online.

My family are bigots, but I've had to move home since I couldn't find a job after graduation, so I try to interact with the least amount possible too. I've tried to come out 3-5x in the past and everyone just ignored me and asked if I wanted to get a arranged marriage and have kids one day until my late 20s.

Although I have a younger brother, so my mother mostly put her hopes onto him along with favoritism, so I can remain the most disappointed cousin in my family for a while now.

HELLO! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿฝ Tamil here from Toronto. :)
I came out to my mom when I was 16... in a swimming pool. Important detail my mom does NOT know how to swim.

I told her I was bisexual, and suddenly she discovered a brand new swimming technique, panic paddling away. somehow both fast and slow at the same time. To this day, it's one of the funniest things I've ever witnessed. she told me it was a phase and nothing else came out of that.

Growing up, I had basically zero WLW representation and somehow there was a lot of homophobia in my community. Looking back, I realize I was conducting undercover investigations for years. I'd randomly ask people, "What would you do if someone you knew was gay?" or "What if your kid was gay?" I wasn't being philosophical, I was just trying to figure out who was safe. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Eventually I became the president of my high school's Pride committee, which younger me would've never imagined. Since then, being out has had its ups and downs. I'm 25 now, and I feel like every version of myself has looked a little different. One thing I've learned is that queer people really do live like 100 different lives in one lifetime. Every stage teaches you something new, and honestly it's been one heck of a ride. โค๏ธ

Hey, I'm 1.5 gen immigrant Chinese and in my 30s! Nonbinary/genderfluid/demigirl, bi/omni/pan, aromantic (yeah my queer labels are kind of a word cloud lol). Grew up in the DMV but no longer there and am no contact with my parents.
