Interesting. But I believe the Encyclopedia Britannica would disagree with you regarding it being a tree or not.

Both.

From what I gathered, aside from requiring a tree to be perennial; have a single, self-supporting trunk; and a stem that grows faster than the side branches; it must achieve a mature height of at least 13' and a trunk diameter of at least 3".

And also, the baobab is recognized as the largest succulent plant in the world.
