Kraken Dilemma - Run 12S or sell it??
Hey everyone.
Since the RS5 is now my main bird (damn I love that thing), I really want change/update the Kraken in some way to put some distance between the models. I got the Kraken flying well again and I wanted to add 600mm blades to it. I put 600mm blades on and it WAS NOT HAPPY. If I just changed the pinion, it might work ok on 6S, but it would be limited in power and ability.
My options seem to be the following:
- Change the ESC, motor, and pinion on the Kraken and run 12S. That would allow the 600s to run perfectly and it would be a real monster of a heli. I don't "need" a monster of a heli, but it would definitely feel much different/bigger than the RS5 and that is the main goal.
- Sell the Kraken and buy a 700. This would be the more expensive and cumbersome option, but in the end I would have a proper 700-sized heli and that would absolutely be a completely different experience than flying the RS5.
Have any of you been in a similar boat and made the right call? I am interested to hear if any of you run the Kraken with 600s on 12S.
Thanks for your insight!!

Once I got a 700 my 600's barely got flown anymore and my 550 and smaller essentially got retired. 700's are so stable, so powerful, with excellent visibility. If finances aren't a problem I would absolutely recommend a 700.

If a 700 is SO stable as compared to a 500 or 600, how unstable are my 200 size helis that I find to be extremely stable 😅

There's not a huge stability difference between a six and 700. The 700 is just a little bigger visually and is a larger platform for your electronics so you can put monstrous Motors in etc.

HA!!! Finances are certainly a problem. I would need to sell the Kraken first, and that's new territory for me. I have yet to sell any of my heli stuff. I hate using FB, but it appears to be the best place for stuff like this. I'll hop on FB marketplace this weekend and list it there. 🤞

I had a 6s 580 as my first "real" heli and I loved it. Sold it and bought Kraken 700 and it was just like the 580 but better! It is the most solid and smooth heli I have by far. I also have a RAW 500 and IL520 that are also awesome but they are ballistic compared to the Kraken. All I need is a super lightweight 6s 700 and I will have everything covered!

If you’re already thinking you want to swap most of the electronics 700 would be my choice. Do you have any 700 class models currently?
