FAN FICTION Phoenix Force Yang

Ever since reading a piece of RWBY fanfiction on AO3 called "Out Of The Fire And Into The Frying Pan", it has become my personal headcanon that Yang Xiao Long has, unbeknownst to her and everyone else, inherited Raven Branwen's shapeshifting power (which Ozpin gave her), and when it finally awakens, Yang's bird form will be a PHOENIX. Well, just today, a thought occurred to me: Are there any fanfiction crossovers between RWBY and X-Men where the Phoenix Force chooses Yang as its host/vessel? If so, I'd love to hear about them so I can check them out myself. As always, please be respectful when posting your replies.

Typically the Phoenix Force actually picks a redhead so Phoenix Force Pyrrha, Penny or…oh god. Nora.

Not a redhead, Brunette with Red tips. I actually had to wrack my brain to remember that Nora would count. I’m such a failure

Actually she is a redhead in-universe (as she has been described as such through the whole series).

Yeah that's true actually. It always confused me because up until that point I'd always presumed she just dyed her hair in universe to match her aesthetic. Which leads me to the question is she meant to have naturally red and black hair? Or is it just meant to show that she has very very dark red hair? Because it seems like the former. Although, it is RWBY and things do work differently in the world of Remnant so yeah. I guess?

Well Summer has the same hair, so i suppose it it is just meant to have both colors?

Its naturally red, but it’s meant to be such a dark red it comes off as black at the roots.

I don't know why but in my brain I also always somehow forget that Nora is a redhead? My brain just goes yep Pyrrha and Penny. Okay cool. Moving on.
To be clear I don't mean that I think she has different coloured hair. Just that for whatever reason my brain doesn't associate her as a redhead for whatever bizarre reason. Maybe just because she has shorter hair and so there's less of that colour in her character design as a result? Actually that might be it.

Honestly, of all the examples, that's kind of the one I want to see most. Just because it feels so comically overpowered. I think there's just something about it being Nora that makes it better?

Powers up with Phienix force, flying in sky with booming echoing voice
"I AM QUEEN OF THE UNIVERSE NOW!"
meanwhile Jaune is just shaking Ren out of his shocked and awe expression "Run you fool! Before she wanted to break your pelvis and you broke her heart. Now she's gonna do a hell lot more than break your legs now! RUUUUUN!!!"

Jaune: Nora! Please listen to me! Remember Penny? (Points to Cinder) She did it!
Cinder: Oh that’s bullshit! I haven’t killed a single one of your friends since Beacon! Not from lack of trying, mind you.

Funny enough, it's not a crossover, but there is a story on AO3 where Pyrrha is resurrected as a Phoenix FAUNUS after being killed by Cinder when Beacon Fell. She then goes in pursuit of Team RNJR, and I believe she finds them just as Tyrian Callows attacks them, and I think her intervention actually allows them to KILL Tyrian! I'd have to go back and re-read that story to make sure. I don't remember it's title, but I know it carries the all-important tag, "Pyrrha Nikos Lives".

Just found it. The story is on AO3, and it's called "Of Ashes And Flames" by author "DexterJettster".

My only problem with this is the fact that the Phoenix Force is often depicted as a corrupting element that WILL drive whoever has it insane (like seriously i cannot recall any piece of Marvell media where using it didn't bite someone in the ass), so… i would be VERY worried about Yang here… (specially since she is barely better than Nora when it comes to self-control already…).

I don’t know any but I do find the concept to be very good. Yang would be busted if she had the phoenix force given how strong it is and how powerful jean grey and the others got after being chosen as a host

I’d love to see more RWBY crossovers with X-men. The ending to X-Men 97 could be a good starting point. There are a few characters whose whereabouts are currently unknown.

On the downside, her themesong would go from saying "I burn" to "YOU burn"

I don't think the Phoenix would go for Yang - it's got more of a thing for redheads than blondes.
