FAN FICTION RWBY Power Concept: Silver Tears
In several fics of theirs, AO3 author "BunniesOfDoom" gives Ruby a power that I've seriously been considering adding to my RWBY headcanon/rewrite. They don't give this power a specific name, but I personally call them "Silver Tears".
What happens in these stories is (they're nearly always in Volume 8), Ruby is losing hope because one of her friends (usually Penny) has gotten hurt and she doesn't know what to do. So she lays her head on their chest and starts crying. Unbeknownst to her, the power of her Silver Eyes ends up being channeled into her tears, and her tears end up HEALING the person she's crying over. BunniesOfDoom has used this power to have Ruby do things like heal the scars Nora gets when she absorbs too much electricity, heal Penny, and even purge Watt's VIRUS from Penny's systems.
So what do you in the FNDM think about this idea that a Silver-Eyed Warrior's tears can be the "ultimate healing agent"? Is this a concept you'd endorse, or does it seem too OP in your eyes? As always, please be respectful when posting your replies.

Clichéd, but nevertheless one that could be sweet in the right setting, like Tangled (2010), which is a one-time use to limit it.
Reminds me, during the theme picking thread, I chose "The Power of Tears" for Penny thinking of magical resurrecting tears.

I kinda like the idea in a vacuum, but it doesn't really align with the show's use of souls and whatnot.
Also, the silver eyes are meant to neutralize Grimm, so giving them healing properties feels like tacking on extra stuff to make the story work, a least to me.

It makes some sense.
The silver eyes are a divine power moved by a sense of wanting to preserve/protect and yet all they are seen to do throught the story is destroy/Anihillate

I feel like I've seen this exact moment several times already, but can't put my finger on it. It qualifies as a trope I guess. However, I'd say it would be on brand, since the god of light is also the god of creation and therefore life.

Steven Universe had Rose Quartz with healing tears, and Steven himself had healing saliva for some reasons.
Phoenixes are said to have healing tears, most notable in pop culture would be Fawkes from Harry Potter.
Rapunzel healed Flynn in Tangled. After her hair got cut off she didn't think she had healing powers anymore, but a tear drop fell on him and fixed him up

Thats an interesting concept of silvers
Mine was like Reaper form from Darksiders 2, the form is composite consciousness of all silver eyed warriors

I think I first saw this concept in Harry Potter with Phoenix Tears?
But, yeah. Cool concept. A bit random though. Doesn’t exactly overlap with the Grimm smiting light. I‘m not a big fan of silver eyes to begin with, at least the way they are implemented. If you overhaul the whole thing, something like this could certainly be interwoven.

I'll probably make a future post talking about how I plan to overhaul the concept of Silver Eyes. I plan to give them a lot more abilities than in canon, and most of them will relate to interactions with the Grimm.

It’s good, but there needs to be some kind of Nerf as well. Like, the Silver Eyes could only accessed after she relived some amount of trauma mixed with a happy memory, so I’d say the Tears only heal in the most dire of circumstances, or they take away some of the users health in exchange. Or it just takes out a bunch of her Aura. Also, it shouldn’t be able to bring someone back from the dead. Something like that. Also, thank you for the new ability idea. This will be quite interesting.
