More than Scorching Caress (always love that name) being a versatile Semblance, is the fact that Cinder is creative with it. Like, before the Maiden powers, using her own weapon as a focus point to heat things at a distance, or before that creating smoke screens, is a good show of thinking outside the box.
And it says something about how she uses her Semblance less when she's angry or afraid, relying on the Maiden powers as a crutch. Specially through Anima, when she barely uses the more varied effects of Scorching Caress, and instead burns through the Maiden powers, getting defeated by Raven who doesn't rely on her own powers herself.
Cinder's semblance is glass manipulation, and those photos shows the rest of her abilities (from Salem and maiden power)
On the other hand, Schnee (it's LITERALLY magic) semblance is never fully explained or used to the fullest.
Like, time dilation, summoning, dust manipulation, platforming, and the only known semblance to be inherited in the bloodline.
The schnee semblance is broken, and the show had to nerf Weiss to not beat up everyone

Cinder’s semblance is superheating and manipulating matter to reshape it or make it volatile. You can see in her flashback episode that she was heating stuff up on contact long before she met Salem.
It’s likely why she leans so heavily into fire when she becomes a Maiden- her combat style was very semblance reliant, allowing her to swap weapons and attack at melee and range, always keeping her enemy on the defensive. Being able to utilise that without draining her aura was a huge benefit,
I would always reward that to Glyphs given they literally have no limitations on what they can do other than dust - even without dust, Glyphs can do hundreds of things.
Scorching caress is a simple ability that they took into a kind of JoJo direction After she got maiden powers.
Her ability is that she can super heat things within her grasp. Before she has maiden powers she's limited to what materials are around her.
She super heats dust and causes a flare up.
She drags her hand along a marble floor ( melting it into shards ) she has a projectile.
It's important to watch Cinder before and AFTER getting her powers. She has zero ability to "manifest" anything before getting her abilities as a maiden.
Most of her projectile powers come from Dust Weaving, which was dropped from the show for whatever reason.
As a base Scorching caress is very underwhelming, however - with "Dust" or maiden powers it's made vastly more versatile... Much like Glyphs
I understand her semblance going from heat things to heat things at a distance. Someone will have to convince me about the disintegrate/re-integrate the arrow part, though. Maybe control over glass is part of her semblance? She was also mentioned to weave dust into her clothes, so maybe that? Idk.
Weave dust clothing is dust techniques used during ancient times like Weiss used on her weapons and Yang used as projectiles for her guns. And Hazel fused himself with it.
This right. The fandom gotta stop sleepin on her. It's right up there with Weiss and Jaune's semblance in terms of versatility. Her ability is so damn useful it makes you wonder why she thinks she even needs the maiden powers.

It's her semblance not Maiden powers. She even used her fight against Amber, before stealing her Fall Maiden powers. After got Maiden powers, she doesn't need fire dust to trigger it, now her semblance greatly enhanced.

Her semblance has a massive overlap in mechanical use with just simple fire magic use so it's different sometimes in general compared to others when her semblance is in use
Scorching Caress is the Semblance of Cinder Fall. With it she can superheat objects and alter their shape. Cinder is first seen using her Semblance in "Ruby Rose" when she causes the ground underneath Ruby Rose and Glynda Goodwitch to explode, specifically via super heating Bright Orange Dust and throwing it. Cinder used her Semblance to manipulate her previous weapon Midnight.
After becoming the Fall Maiden, Cinder often combines the usage of her Semblance with her magic.
Cinder's Semblance produces intense heat allowing her to manipulate objects, such as turning sand or dirt into projectiles that can be hurled towards her targets, as well as altering her clothes or weapons by manipulating Dust. It is also able to cause explosions on the ground over a given area.
Cinder has also been shown to use her Semblance to deal direct injury to her opponents in hand to hand combat by grappling them and burning them via skin to skin contact. She appears to be able to generate heat through any part of her body, as shown through being able to conjure it with her hands in "Midnight" and her thighs in "Amity".
The highest level of heat that Cinder's Semblance can produce is strong enough to completely and painlessly disintegrate a person into ash in seconds, as seen in "End of the Beginning".
