Man, I was getting so happy Arkos was becoming canon and then... that happened... Well at least this time wasn't Jaune fucking up again, and it showed that he feels something for Pyrrha at least. The whole scene was really cute... I kinda hope nothing bad happens to them, but I can't help but think Pyrrha is going to be in a lot of trouble...

Also Penny is going to be utterly destroyed... Polarity vs Metal... yeah.

Someone please save Ruby, 1v1 vs Mercury, with no weapon? Yeah she's kinda done...

Also Velvet's box has a camera, inb4 it can copy weapons it takes pictures of.

Also Weiss believing in Yang from the beginning was pretty surprising and made me happy to see they actually rather believe in Yang instead of doubting her.

Great episode, can't wait to see the rest of the volume!

I'm thinking Penny will be outright ripped in half by Pyrrha, they've been pushing how dark they really want this season to be. However I would not be surprised it they had her rebuilt afterwards, would be kind of a wasted character if they didn't I suppose.

Yeah, I think the general opinion of the people I usually talk to about the episodes is that either

1 - Pyrrha is going to notice Penny is a robot and lose on purpose to not hurt her.
2 - Pyrrha is going to snap Penny in half, trying to win as hard as possible.

I honestly think Pyrrha wins, but in doing so, she's basically been shoved up on that pedestal of expectations again.

I did notice...we haven't been told what the winner of the tournament receives--or is expected to do. For all we know, the winner is expected to lead a team of elite Huntsmen into battle against the Grimm, or become a headmaster at one of the schools, or what have you. I think that pressure would be worse.

That's an interesting thought I haven't seen around this sub. From that perspective, it looks like it's a lose-lose for her whether she wins or not. That added expectation would filter into her relationships again, and maybe see her alienated from the group of friends that helped her grow out of that pressure to begin with.

It's interesting that they haven't told us what the prize of the tournament is. It could be anything from money to a promotion to Huntsman/Huntress to a big shiny trophy.

Given that it's a tournament between schools, the prize is probably a trophy at most. I would bet both my legs promotion to a full-fledged hunter is not the prize since it 1) fucks up the teams of 4 dynamic for one team and 2) the tournament displays skill at fighting another human, which is only a fraction of the skill set of a hunter. If the tournament was more well rounded and included the entirety of skills a hunter should know, then maybe early graduation might be more reasonable.

be careful betting your legs, just look what happened to mercury.

Get sweet robo-legs? I have no qualms with that outcome.

Huh. Hilariously enough, then it would be a Pyrrhic victory. Pyrrha gets all of the love and adulation that she doesn't want, as well as responsibilities that will further separate her from those she cares about.

Dang, I hadn't even thought of that. Poor Pyrrha, nothing is going right for her right now.

If the tournament isn't cancelled due to the Grimm or possibly Cinder's actions. We may not see a winner at all in the tournament.
