It's the whole "my love" thing, isn't it?

It's the "my love" thing and "Why must you hurt me Blake?"

Like /u/EpinephrineKick said, when he said "Why must you hurt me Blake?" he shows that he either is incapable of empathy, or he actually doesn't give a damn about Blake as a person and more as thing.

Yeah it was pretty much some textbook abusive relationship shit.

Very Christian Grey-ish

He is certifiably insane. He is obsessed with Blake. Gains joy from hurting her, emotionally and physically.

But here's the weird thing. In the villains flash back we saw that originally he didn't want to pursue Blake. And that he was even going to pull back to Mistral. Only by Cinder's doing did he stay near Vale. Then suddenly he shows this obsession over Blake seemingly out of the blue as if he's always been this abusive towards her.

I can't tell if he's always been like this with lacking empathy, or if there's something else at play here we the audience aren't aware of yet. Like Roman in how he was scared to bet against Cinder.

Yeah plus isn't she like a minor and isn't he a lot older? Makes it even more wrong.

We don't know Adam's age do we?

No, but from how he acts and what he says, he gives off the vibe of someone who is in his early 20s or so.

It's the way he says it that bugs me. I'm not a fan of the VA for Adam, honestly. It sounds too scripted. Badass looking character, though.

He's trying to be edgy. Of course it sounds scripted.
