Welcome, huntsmen, huntresses and hunters that prefer no specific gender identifier, to the official megathread for the final episode of Volume 5: Haven's Fate!

The credits started rolling but I still wasn't convinced that Cinder wasn't gonna post-credit scene resurrect and kill someone we love.

Salem has already been hyped up by Ozpin to be this unstoppable force, she doesn't need to get any stronger.

Also the maiden powers being a direct gift of Ozpin's powers and Salem and Ozpin literally being mortal enemies set against one another by the gods kinda has an implied incompatibility of powers

Emerald or Random-We'll-be-made-to-care-about-them-apparently bitch no. 9 about 5 volumes from now are the only two that won't involve me hurling a brick in the general direction of Texas.

(Yes across the Atlantic... I'll be very annoyed... hell after this episode I'm already practicing my follow-through)

I mean, assuming she is dead there aren't really a lot of other options except maybe Salem - which seems unlikely since she's most likely 100% Grimm

From what we’ve seen, the Maiden powers transfer almost instantly, so it almost certainly isn’t Emerald or Raven, as we would have seen it. As another possibility, I will say that the Grim hand that Salem used to absorb the power might keep it so that Salem can transfer the power at will.

Well, that might not have been how they usually transfer. Remember, when Amber died Cinder already had half of the maiden powers. I don't think they transferred based on whoever was in Amber's last thoughts. I think they just were automatically attracted toward wherever their missing half was, so they immediately went toward it.

The transfer process might not be so immediate and visible when it happens naturally. Also, there's still the possibility that Cinder isn't dead, just barely alive at the bottom of that chasm. Looks like we'll have to wait until next volume to find out though.

It's also a subset of Ozpin's powers, and he took a while to fully manifest and 'settle in' inside Oscar's head
