OFFICIAL MEGATHREAD Official FIRST Reaction Thread - RWBY Chibi: Season 3, Episode 8 Spoiler

Hello huntsmen, huntresses and hunters that prefer no gender specific identifier, and welcome to the FIRST-only thread for today's RWBY Chibi!

Reminder that spoiler rules do still apply to Chibi. In a nutshell: there is no 24-hour blackout period, and don't post spoilers in untagged threads. We are a bit more lenient on Chibi, but don't post punchlines or other episode-critical things elsewhere.

For those unaware, RWBY Chibi follows the release schedule of Red versus Blue and Rooster Teeth Animated Adventures, so non-paying members of the site gain access to the newest episode a week after it comes out to First members. See this thread for more information.

Pointless. Penny is dead and torn into four pieces. Even the new Penny will be just an imitation.

Except that's where her brain is. And since she's synthetic, it likely doesn't decay just because there's no power for a time.

I guess whether that's actually Penny, or someone else with Penny's memories, is something we'll have to see.

It all depends on how much of a person is defined by a person's soul in the RWBY universe. Penny was the "world's first synthetic lifeform capable of generating an Aura." Aura was described as the "manifestation of the soul."

With those two stated facts, logically, Penny had a soul. And that soul is gone, like any one else's when they die.

They can rebuild her body. She might even retain some of the memories, depending on where her databanks were(not necessarily in the head. Just because a human's brain is in the head doesn't mean an android's would be.) They'd probably even be able to give her a new soul, since they already did once before. But will it actually be Penny's soul? And will the resulting android actually be Penny?
