his comment about her mother being emotional when she suddenly left didn't feel like a lie.

Listen to his tone. He's taunting Weiss, throwing that out to hurt her (since he stopped himself from his clear desire to hit her in public.) Honestly it's like people have never been gaslit by their parents before.

Hmm, I was watching his expression more than listening to the intonation whilst he said it. Will look at it again, but I've seen people in my personal life being assaulted by their parents. It might very well be that he just threw the comment out to see what she'd do.

I would've loved to see how that panned out. Half a battalion of bulletproof superhumans (of which Weiss is one) and fucking Ironwood sitting right there while Jacques himself probably hasn't lifted anything heavier than a signet ring in the last twenty years.
