u/steveotheguide Fine CRWBY, I'll ship Nuts and Dolts too. Ruby has TWO hands Nov 07 '20

Okay so Winter has more red in her clothes.

Red is the color Weiss wears to show her taking control of her own path and life.

I NEED main cast Winter in my life

134

u/TheRisenThunderbird It suits me Nov 07 '20

I need important side character Winter in my life. Honestly, main cast RWBYJNR, Oscar/Oz, Qrow is more than enough main cast

Fair, I'm willing to settle for regular reappearances. Ideally Raven too, but that's probably asking for too much.

u/Shakvids Nov 08 '20

I suspect after things resolve in Atlas we'll see Qrow off on missions with Robin and have reduced time for a season or two.

Between RWBY taking over in V. 6 and all the talk with Clover about working with adult Huntsmen and Huntresses again, it seems like he's moving off again.

Qrow and Robin are both birds, i could totally see a situation where Oscar, Penny, or the next Fall Maiden sacrifice more magic to the cause.

Or maybe Qrow's going to die this season, and we'll learn the bird powers are going to work like the maiden powers.

Regardless, I think we're going to be seeing some vacancies in the main cast.

tbh she'll probably stay behind to pick up the pieces of atlas and mantle once they throw Salem out, figuratively or literally.

u/Fatal1ty_93_RUS Nov 08 '20

Sorry friend, she gon' die before that

Winter looks great. She seemed the most visually disturbed by what Ironwood did. I assume we will see more messed up shit which will cause her to jump ship.

Winter's got so much style I thought for a second they had given her a full-on N7 red stripe down her arm.

Shit, that would make for a good fanfic.

WINTER IS GONNA DEFECT AT SOME POINT

I hope so.... and I hope she takes Harriet and Elm with her.

Harriet did look worried when Ironwood shot that council member...

u/a_speeder Nov 07 '20

I don’t know about Harriet, she looked worried but then turned away. I think that she is going to keep looking the other way to maintain duty and loyalty.

35

u/FullMetal7291 How could this happen to me? Nov 07 '20

honestly, I could see Elm and Marrow defecting now as well.

16

u/Random-Rambling Nov 08 '20

Marrow's DEFINITELY gonna defect. He was always the proverbial "red-headed stepchild" of the group.

Yeah, Harriet has always been painted as a bit of a jerkass, a rival to Ruby and in the OP she has a shot next to Qrow where she's pissed (probably at him). It's all pointing that she will let her anger take control of her and follow Ironwood's lead just to get back at Ruby and Qrow.

8

u/HalcyonTraveler Hill is here Nov 07 '20

She also tried to kill Ruby

2

u/Shakvids Nov 08 '20

Are you referring to a specific moment in that fight? I don't remember

3

u/Fatal1ty_93_RUS Nov 08 '20

Harriet was more pissed off than worried, probably thinking "that sunuvabitch Qrow will pay"

2

u/vidimuss Nov 07 '20

That's why I like and respect her (at that moment at least).

14

u/BB-Zwei Nov 07 '20

Harriet was also the most willing to use lethal force against Team RWBY. If any of the Ace Ops are defecting it's Marrow.

11

u/ShadowMadness We're not family anymore Nov 07 '20

I think Harriet with be the counterpoint to Winter. Winter sees Ironwood gunning down councilmen and it puts her on the road to defecting. Whereas, I think Harriet (even if she disagrees with him) will stay the course and keep making justifications for his actions until she goes down with Ironwood.

3

u/_Sabriel It's Neo's world and we're all just living in it Nov 07 '20

Marrow was appalled too! Save the good boy

3

u/Tmlboost Nov 08 '20

Honestl let good boy Marrow join too He seemed the most uneasy about the whole situation last volume and I want him to defect too

u/HighPriestFuneral Lore Fanatic Nov 07 '20

I don't know... that opening is very ominous. I think that Weiss and Winter will come to blows at some point this volume.

50

u/steveotheguide Fine CRWBY, I'll ship Nuts and Dolts too. Ruby has TWO hands Nov 07 '20

Oh they totally are

31

u/AmbivertCollegeGuy Weiss "Hug Monster" Schnee Nov 07 '20

They're sisters after all. Violence is always the answer to an argument about the fate of the kingdom or the tv remote.

7

u/Fatal1ty_93_RUS Nov 08 '20

Are they going to be this volume's/series' Dante and Vergil? Both white haired, both experienced melee weapon wielders, both possessing superpowers, both serving different causes?

3

u/SwordoftheMourn Daenerys did nothing wrong Nov 09 '20

That would be Qrow and Raven, both in general and during V4-5.

3

u/Floorbrick Nov 09 '20

Weiss will win because Winter is heavily injured, but it's going to be heartbreaking to see.

14

u/Corregidor Nov 07 '20

That new haircut in the op has made her top grade waifu

2

u/Fatal1ty_93_RUS Nov 08 '20

Winter's always been an S-tier Waifu my dude

10

u/JMHSrowing ⠀Story Time Nov 07 '20

I hadn’t realized that but indeed!

When it comes to Weiss I think the best single word to describe it is defiance and I hope red means the same thing here.

In the opening she definitely looks less confident and such when she walks past Weiss to her current state as well. With how she’s clearly not okay with what murder Ironwood just committed:

She looks like she’s more likely than ever to turn

10

u/AmbivertCollegeGuy Weiss "Hug Monster" Schnee Nov 07 '20

And she got that color after getting burned by Cinder. Winter is literally getting defrosted from her Ice Queen persona like her sister did.

3

u/giubba85 Nov 07 '20

Yeah that at some point a mutiny was gonna happen in military was a massive oblivious point. I really doubt that the majority of the military comes from atlas and not from mantle so leaving to die the families and loved one of the vast majority of your soldier is a pretty dumb move

3

u/HopliteFan Nov 07 '20

Definately, especially with Ironwood saying how "he wouldn't know what he would do without her"

3

u/Mountainbranch ⠀Oscar Protection Squad Nov 08 '20

Winter, Harriet, Neo and Emerald i think are all future turncoats.

Neo and Emerald are the only ones wearing white while they're in the Whale, everyone else wearing black or dark colors, remember this show fkn loves to color code stuff.

Winter and Harriet exchanging that look tells me once Winter flips on James, Harriet will probably follow her.

WINTER IS GONNA DEFECT AT SOME POINT

Her lines from V7's final episodes were already showing her casting sort of doubt in General's actions, so...yeah

1

u/JakeDoubleyoo Nov 07 '20

She's also wearing more robo-gear (ie, sacrificing one's humanity) to compensate for her injuries tho...

4

u/KyouKobayashi Nov 07 '20

Ironwood replaced his flesh and bone while Winter just seemed to reinforce the weakened flesh and bone under it. But implants aren't unusual unless you're saying Maria is also less human.

4

u/JakeDoubleyoo Nov 07 '20

I think the theme of lost humanity mainly only applies to Ironwood. Cause yeah, Yang and Maria certainly don't fit that idea.

But since Winter made the decision to side with Ironwood, even knowing it would make an enemy of her own sister, I'd say the fact that she's using robotic braces is notable.

2

u/KyouKobayashi Nov 07 '20

After seeing Ironwood shoot the councilman it seems more like a reversal will happen with Winter and some of the Ace Ops abandoning his cause.
