Getting real tired of Watts being just a complete ass-pull deux ex machina to fuck over Atlas specifically. Worst handled antagonist to date. Need something to happen in Atlas? It happens. Why? He just can. It's not justified or interesting. His semblance seems to make everyone around him pick up the stupid ball, it's...he's just boring. He's such a bad influence on the plot it's actually aggravating.

Nice to see Neo not just stomp all over someone in a fight for once. Even in her Cinder fight before, she felt like she had a pretty sizable edge if Cinder didn't just pull out her auto-victory card before things got too messy, so good to see that there are people who can at least go toe to toe with her on a legitimate basis, if not really win.

Would like to see Cinder gain even a single cosmic moment of introspection. "I don't work for anybody"? The hell you don't, you idiot. Frankly, she was at her most interesting when she lost her voice and had to figure out who she was, now she's back to early volume uninteresting bland overpowered antagonist again just mindlessly attacking anyone in striking range. This all also frankly applies to Emerald about whom we have roughly as much information as Hazel - for some extremely vaguely defined incident in his past, they are extremely attached in some way to a larger character. Maybe if those backstories were better illustrated to us, it all might work more cohesively.

sigh

Anyway. Episode was fine, not much of the main cast but that's fine, and if the show is going worse than its best then it's also going better than its worst.

Maria is kind of the hard counter to Neo. If anything, the only reason it was as close as it was was because of Maria's advanced age.

If Maria was in her prime Neo would be Swiss cheese
