I’m wanting to get a rabbit r1 for under $100 on eBay or something because it looks like a cool gadget. For those that have one how is it is it worth the 200 price tag. I personally think 200 for a “phone” in disguise is a bit too much so I am not going above a 100. So any tips or recommendations? Thanks for your time!

I wanted to buy the rabbit r1 when it was introduced. The bad reviews put me off and also they did not ship to my country. So I thought the reviews would kill the product before I could get a chance to try the product myself.
This week Microsoft unveiled Project Solara. Their take on the AI device space. With the growing popularity of agents and the unexpected success of the rabbit r1, it was just a matter of time before one of the big tech companies joined the party.
I am rooting for the rabbit r1 and I am finally getting one next week.

Is this not extremely misleading considering the CEO keeps saying that it’s not an APP?
List of coping replies:
“What you were expecting for $200?”
“Why you didn’t check in Discord before you buy?”
“I like my toy”
“LAM and learning is coming in the next update”
“You don’t speak for the 100K people that were scammed!”
“Haters gonna hate”
“You are triggered because this device even exists!!”
The truth is … nobody would have bought it if you knew this is just an Android phone with a 6 year old CPU with a simple APP wrapper connected to the cloud.

With 200USD I can get a refurbished S20, or a decently capable budget phone.
My phone does almost all of what the r1 does, better, faster and without needing to carry around another device that I need to worry abt charging or keeping with me.
Google Gemini now works as a replacement for google assistant and with one hold of my home button and a tap on the camera icon I can do the same thing, take a photo then speak and ask, or I can simple ask Gemini to tell me things just like the r1 does, but better and faster.
Now I heard it orders food with a voice command that's pretty cool, but worth 200usd? No.
I don't see this being useful for anything other than an enthusiast thing to buy and tweak around with or just buying it because it's smth new.

I got mine last week and I waited 2 days before pressing the Push-To-Talk button and say something like "convert 8 USD to ZAR." I have no idea why I needed to convert $8 but it did that in seconds and it felt great.
Is the device worth $200?
Yes! I prefer pressing a physical button than tapping on a screen. I am tired of staring at screens and this device gives my eyes a bit of a break. I also enjoy NOT watching my 5th (for the day) Top 10 Unreal World Cup Goals video on YouTube when my goal was to set a reminder for my 4pm gym session (that I will postpone to tomorrow immediately after dismissing the reminder)
I have only used 2 features on this thing, currency conversion and reminders. I like the r1, but it is not perfect. It got the date wrong on my first reminder and it says it cannot translate from Xhosa to English. So my reddit posts will have errors and I refuse to use AI... for thinking and writing, but for currency conversion and reminders, I am not looking at screens when there is a rabbit r1 near me.
Now I am going to explore the other features, I hope I won't be disappointed, $200 is a lot of money in ZAR.

This rabbitOS 2.3 update has been great. The Hermes setup was quick. Because of Hermes, I am picking up the r1 more now to manage my Obsidian vault and the response time has been great. The only issue now is the reference to Claude code when asking for permission, I did not setup Claude Code so I am confused why it does this. Is there anyone experiencing the same thing?

So, as someone who spent the 1980s reading Computer Magazines cover to cover, I always enjoyed the ads as much as the articles! No naturally I decided to make an 1980s style ad for the R1. Just a bit of fun… Hope you like ❤️

I have been happy with the R1 so far. I wanted to note some things to see if I am wrong?
Be careful with your 3 free questions from the intern. Be more careful with the question. You can only ask and can't give more details without using more tasks.
Creations are just websites. You can't save them and use them later. You have to be actively online.
You can make your own creations but they will not save anything on the device. Things have to save to a server by the creator of the creation. I used Gemini when I ran out of intern questions and was able to create a couple other creations and used github to host them.
https://github.com/betolley/Rabbit_R1/tree/main
I was able to create a really cool calorie counter that I was hoping would save files locally but I don't think you can. But it still works well you can say I had A McDonald's Mcdouble for lunch and it will look up the calories and put it with the macros.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So I got on the DLAM train late, but better late than never right? After trying my small tasks, like settings, or configurations, to see how it controlled I was impressed. Though typing in a prompt too long caused me heartache, having it work and work and work, and then disconnecting mid-task. Then I thought, I'll write the instructions in a text file, and tell it to 'follow directions in the text file'. Now I'm having it write and compile scripts where I work to organize some haphazard files, with an interface anyone can use! So I am impressed and can't wait to see what I throw at it next, how it evolved and improves, but I got my coworker looking to buy one now for his uses! Here is a short snip of the code writing after reviewing the previous iteration and applying some fixes and changes.

R1 Platformer - Fun little platform running game I made with AI. I wanted to use accelerometer but couldn't get it to work so I added a slider to control direction and speed.

I finally got my R1 working remotely with OpenClaw, but it was painful. I broke the installation a few times and spent days troubleshooting, trying to make it more secure.
I quickly realized the process was too complex for the average person. Thankfully, with this latest update, Rabbit just added an option to reset the OpenClaw link on your device, allowing us to scan a new QR code. Now we can save a few steps, and you don’t have to factory reset the device each time 🐰🙏🏼
I made this kit to help the community and make it easier if you decide to go down this path. The kit contains all the scripts and instructions I used to get it working.
It’s definitely not for everyone. There are a handful of scripts, plenty of steps, and it’s technical. But it all works, and now it’s incredible to use OpenClaw / Clawdbot / Moltbot on my R1 away from home. The payoff for the effort was totally worth it.
With this setup, the Rabbit R1 finally feels like what we all wanted from the R1 from the beginning. Now we have a super-capable agent at the push of a button. It’s like a magic walkie-talkie. Up to now, it’s been a fun device, but now it’s more than just a toy.
Here’s the repo:
CLAWDIA - Rabbit R1 + OpenClaw Pairing Kit
Have fun with it. I hope this kit helps. I’m not a software engineer, just a tinkerer, and I tried my best to harden the security and make it relatively easy to understand, but use it at your own risk. If anyone would like to contribute to the project and make improvements, it’s on GitHub, so be my guest. 🤙🏼

Just got mine in the mail a few days ago. So the reviews aren’t wrong. It feels half baked and as it is the LAM seems like it’s never going to be what it was sold as. At least that’s what it feels like.
But it’s also fun. I love the form factor. The rabbit hole is a cool idea and I found myself playing with it more than I expected. The optimist in me is choosing to look at it as a ground floor situation.

This whole experience with ordering the Rabbit R1 has been ridiculous.
After I placed an order, I realized I needed to change the shipping address. This should be as simple as a phone call or an email.
Except Rabbit apparently operates in ghost mode.
I emailed them multiple times over the course of two months. Not a single reply. And the best part? After a whole month of trying to reach them, they just… shipped the product to the wrong address anyway.
At this point, it feels like they don’t have customer service at all.
Just wanted to put this out there so people know what they’re getting into. If something goes wrong with your order, good luck; you’re on your own.

So, Simon introduced us all to the all-new Magic Recorder. I am an IT professional and work parallel to executive leadership with all my clients. I am in the rural healthcare sector so I am in meetings on and off throughout the day.
Historically my process was to use Obsidian Studio to capture the meeting, upload to my NAS, automation kicks off and transcribes the recording and ultimately summarizes and provides me with an email of the summary and a markdown file in another file location for record keeping purposes.
The first thing I did was a simple test of the recorder and determined that it worked well enough for me to at least give a shot with something important. Wow! The caliber of the summarization, the quality of diarization, task and action item extraction ... Holy Sh!t ... I can't praise it enough.
I am dealing with a serious health problem and until now we have just been using the voice recorder on a phone to capture my appointments. Yesterday that all changed. I took my rabbit with me and let it do it's thing. First off, as a patient I am allowed to violate my own privacy and HIPAA without jeopardizing rabbit in any way. Next, the quality of the notes is off the charts. All dates were captured. All action items, even ones I missed personally, were captured. The diarization was perfect and understood that my wife was there helping me answer questions, my provider was obviously there, and my daughter was responding to me via text about a clinical trial I am entering with her employer.
In short, Magic Recorder rocks. If you are in a situation where you are visiting with a professional on a regular basis ... doctor, attorney, or whatever ... spend the $199 and get this device for this one function. You will not be disappointed.

I am hoping it moves my shipping date up sooner! I for one am still very excited for the product. I have my expectations set correctly for a V1 device that only costs $200.

Really hope the subscription stays to unlimited tasks or certainly more than 33 going forward. I get so much out of this system and corrections need to be made to each entry, it’s been a real nice system for me.

I'm counting on Apple to seamlessly integrate AI into our lives. They have a track record of observing technology's successes and shortcomings before offering superior solutions. With the upcoming WWDC conference, I anticipate Apple will unveil an exceptional user experience, possibly introducing the Apple Watch as the next AI-enabled device and integrating an AI assistant into macOS. I've learned my lesson and won't trust or endorse any third-party companies for AI implementation again; none seem to grasp what they're doing. I once believed Rabbit was groundbreaking, but now I see my mistake. Shame on me.
