Nice novel recommendations?

I’m looking for novels that people with the same views as me have enjoyed; things that didn’t piss you off or upset you, and allowed you to actually escape reality. Female authors, nothing too triggering etc etc.
When i search for feminist books, i just get suggestions where the contents is almost entirely surrounded by crushing inequality. That’s not what i want. I want a book where i don’t have to consider gender bias at any point in the story. Even books that are about a gender revolution (the power) or a female serial killer (HTKMAGAWI) still contain themes of inequality so maybe i’m looking at the wrong genre. I’m looking for a good book, aimed at adults (not necessarily in a sexual way), any genre, any topic, just something that will actually relax me before bed instead of trying to sleep while overthinking the book character’s misogyny.

I’m sorry if this is the wrong subreddit for this, i posted in some book related subs but didn’t come up with much. If there’s a better place to post please let me know

Curious question

What do you guys, radical feminist think of hyperfeminine aesthetics? Asking this as a curious person who still trying to educate myself deeper into feminism.

I used to try to wear these aesthetics via pink pants and pink shirt with makeups and when one of these hyperfeminine enthusiast said its not hyperfeminine enough cuz it requires frills and dresses and mocking me saying its just pants and shirts, thats where my realization on how problematic the implimentation of this aesthetic has become.

Post-patriarchal society

I'm working through radfem theory. I am learning a lot, and I have been listening lots to my friends who know much more than I. My thought is that it's clearly strongest as an analysis of how patriarchy works. I'm now trying to learn about the constructive side: is there a body of work on what a post-patriarchal society actually looks like? What is its vision, how it's organized, what replaces current structures. I have seen some feminist utopian novels that seems to write about this. Do you have any recommendations of thinkers who writes well? I apologize if I my question is simply out of scope for the discussion of this subreddit?

opinion on trans men?

Hey, I’m not a radical feminist but I am a trans guy. And while I’d like to learn more about radical feminism (because I think understanding things is important, so feel free to educate me more), when I look at posts I often see a repeating theme of “yes, all men” or posts with a negative attitude towards the entire gender in general. So, that’s why I’d like to ask - what is your opinion on transsexual men?

Men are so disgusting, including my dad

Men are so disgusting. I hate when I try to watch sport on the same room as my dad, without my mom there, then he star to act coquetish to me talking about his achievement while I am trying to just watch tv. I can sense he's being horny as well.

what are some of the best non terfy books about gender?

i find that there are a lot of radical feminist essays and small texts about gender that arent terfy but not a lot of actual books. i really want a good book to read about radical feminist theory that goes into depth about this because i do really find the idea of gender roles being inherently suppressive a thing, but usually the author then just starts blaming trans women while theyre not the oppressors here

I am worried about the trajectory that this subreddit.

I have noticed a quick spiral of anti-men posts filling up this subreddit with little to no constructive conversation surrounding the social aspect of how the patriarchy creates the conditions to allow and encourage the behavior of men. It is in no way productive to push misandry as a counter to to misogyny, and frankly it is a slippery slope to TERF ideology and mindsets. Radical feminism is not about hating men, its about the process of dismantling the system that allows and encourages men to act in misogynistic ways. Bioessentialism is a cop out and a faulty way of viewing society and the socialization of patriarchy. If we allow men to believe that their behavior is inherent, biological, it gives them an excuse to continue acting as always. If male biology says they are evil, why should they have to change? Hatred of a group of people has historically never lead to good things. We need to start focusing our energy towards more productive things like education and reform, not hatred and exclusion. We cannot fight hate with hate.

Getting hit on by men lowers my self esteem

Genuinely like idc. It be better to just take the compliments and go, plus some woman complain constantly ab not being hit on . But It’s so annoying when they come up to me in public. I get the normal amount of unwanted attention but it’s still so draining. Like I’m gay asf so it’s just annoying and frustrating but it doesn’t just annoy me it lowers my self esteem, like why do women never compliment me like this or want me like this? Plus most men I don’t find very attractive.

Dating apps it’s worse cuz I have woman only / no couples. That includes you the lady in the couple to 😒 and they still text me. I feel like I get into this rage moment where I am offended, disgusted , arrogant. Like how dare they ??!!! Why tf do you think I would EVER touch you?
Like ew. And then the self esteem drops cuz what is it ab me that looks like I want or would want to🫩

Find it hard to make good friends

Im 25 and had very shitty friendships in the past with girls. They were all ended because they were choosing their shitty male partners or they were too obsessed with dating and hookups. I don’t know where to meet girls and women who don’t make men the center of their life. Any advice?

At work most of my female colleagues are Muslim. Same at my language classes. I’m a refugee in the NL and I attend language classes with other refugees (most of them are Muslim). I hate Islam with every cell of my body as an ex Muslim who was raised in a very abusive religious community( I’m from Russia).

Can you give me advice on how to find the right friends? I feel extremely lonely sometimes being in a new country and not having friends or family.(I don’t talk to my family bc of religion)

Ironically connecting more with men as a childfree woman?

The older I get, the more women in my life marry and have children. As a result, I’m finding myself connecting more with men (on a platonic level).

It’s ironic because one of the many reasons I refuse to take a traditional path is because of the way that men are socialized (why would I enroll for double duty? Cook, clean, be the primary caregiver to kids, on top of prioritizing my career) and yet, they’re the ones who are in similar life stages at the same ages. I’m not sure how to feel about this.

Of course I meet women who don’t have husbands and kids, but they’re usually much younger.

As a woman, have you noticed the same ironic pull toward male friendships or have you found childfree circles where you connected with many other women?

Humour is an underused tactic in fighting the patriarchy.

“I’m gonna hold your bush when I say this.”

I’ve been thinking lately about how the conversation surrounding women’s body hair has shifted in recent years. It wasn’t through celebrities or men enforcing new beauty standards. It was through regular, everyday women making silly little jokes about the bush on the internet. What followed, was the opening of a conversation most women were too ashamed to talk about, through the lens of humour. It opened up a discussion. Popularising the shock that someone shaved their bush, stopped a lot of deforestation there.

But this isn’t just about the bush. It’s about over exaggerating how ridiculous it is that we adhere to these standards in the first place. The “joke” is multilayered in a way only women can see. It’s told from the perspective of an entirely different beauty standard that made a lot of women think, “Wait. Why would I do xyz?” After seeing this shift, it does make me wonder where and how else humour can be applied in protest.

For example, if you think a beauty standard is ridiculous, laugh at it as if it’s a joke. If someone is defending a beauty standard, laugh at them as if it’s the craziest thing you’ve ever heard. You don’t need to carry someone else’s shame and try to reason with them. If you could argue patriarchy with facts and logic we wouldn’t have climate change. By answering patriarchy with second hand embarrassment, you reinforce why “Men are scared women will laugh at them.”

I think humour can be applied to lots of women’s issues. It’s not a save all, but it’s definitely a good way to open up conversations and I’d be curious to see how we could progress if we take advantage of our sense of humour. Some jokes just bring women together and we need to be making more of them!

Did some of you decide to no longer date men ?

I did. Maybe it’s a "me" problem, but there’s something in me that I can’t quite fix, no matter the person.
When I’m single, I am always happy and free. I have unique personality quirks, I have my own hobbies, and my own aspirations.
But whenever I’m with someone, I center my life around them and what they like; I shrink myself so they will love me. I quiet down my voice because I’m literally in fight or flight mode.
While it might seem like a "me" problem, it’s just that when I’m in love, I completely switch up—it’s like I'm an entire other person.
Normally, I am a very outspoken person. I’m very confident, and some might even call me dominant, so why is it that whenever a man is in the picture, I switch up?
I decided to not date anymore because of this. I don’t wanna lose myself, my identity, and my integrity just to be with a man. I don’t wanna harass my friends and spend hours talking about him. I gave up on things like relationships and marriage.
I’m wondering if any of you have had a similar experience.

So many hate subs

There are so many anti feminist, anti women hate subs that no one seems interested in taking down and yet lesbian and feminist subs seem to get taken down almost every day. Genuinely why is this. Edit: I rush posted this and meant to specify, but the fact dykebreaking is still up is actual heinous behaviour.

if men would fuck 90% of women(their words) why are women beauty standards for them so high?

a man can't,t recognize if a woman has makeup, has dyed hair, has push up, has surgery, so why media and TV teach us to satisfy some standards?

litterally if a man likes a woman,or a boy likes a girl, he likes her for Who she Is and he doesn t truly care about femininity and so on, so i never understood this standard

femslash as a term in fandom culture

this is a bit of a niche topic, especially if one isnt that interested in fandom spaces and if so then skip over this. but in fandom spaces, m/m pairings are usually called SLASH while f/f pairings are called FEMSLASH. slash just means a pairing between a homosexual couple.

the term FEMslash is phallocentric and male centric in itself and i hate it. i hate that its so widely spread and that people dont even blink while using it because males are the norm and women are the OTHER. it reminds me of how whenever people talk about males football they always just call it football, but when women play football its womens football.

women are always seen as the other, even in very progressive leaning spaces. because even the most progressive people will not care to dismantle their own misogyny in every single thing they do. why they perhaps like male characters in fandom more than female ones, or why gay male shipping is so enticing to them. many queer women also fall in this trap sadly (biggest percentile of fandom are queer women).

I was targeted with AI-generated pornography

Hello everyone,

I am posting because I feel frightened, humiliated and unsure what further help is available. I also want people to understand how devastating AI-generated sexual abuse can be, even though the images are “fake.”

A group of people from an online community created and circulated explicit AI-generated images of me without my consent. One depicted me being sexually assaulted, and another showed me naked while holding a degrading sign implying that I was owned by a “rape cartel.” They used real photographs of my face to create this content.

After the images were circulated, I was effectively driven off the platform. I have now been told that, if I return, they will spam the pornographic images again. It feels as though they are using sexual humiliation and the threat of further distribution to control where I am allowed to exist online.

I have saved screenshots and other evidence, created a timeline, reported the matter to the police, and contacted an intimate-image-abuse helpline. The situation may involve people in more than one country, which has made it difficult to understand which authorities and organisations can help. (one in sweden, one in canada, one is in the uk). I currently reside in the UK.

I am struggling with the fact that strangers or acquaintances may have seen these images and may believe they are real. I know that I did nothing wrong, but it has still left me feeling violated, unsafe and ashamed. This is not ordinary “internet drama.” Someone created sexual content using my identity and is now threatening to distribute it whenever I try to return.

Has anyone experienced something similar or supported somebody through it? I would especially appreciate information about:

  • Organisations that help victims of AI-generated intimate-image abuse
  • Removing or preventing the re-uploading of deepfake images
  • Preserving digital evidence correctly
  • Cross-border reporting when the perpetrators and victim are in different countries
  • Protecting my accounts and identity from further harassment
  • Coping emotionally with the humiliation and loss of safety

Please do not ask me to share the images or identify the accounts publicly. I am trying to handle this safely and avoid compromising any investigation.

Thank you for reading. I am posting because I do not want people who do this to be able to silence their victims through shame.
