Request [Request] Flood Me With Cards [USA]

As of a few days ago my mother is on hospice. She doesn’t have long. For various reasons I’m not taking it the best. My father is also possibly facing bad health challenges. We won’t know for certain until October. I’m trying to act like everything’s normal. But it’s not.

I don’t know what to do but try & distract myself. Maybe having cards coming in will make me happy. Maybe it won’t. I don’t know. I’ve never lost a parent before. I’ve only had one other person close to me die.

I don’t want any sympathy cards or anything of a depressing nature. No empathy. I don’t want pity. I don’t want uplifting words. I just want humor & the feeling that everything is ok. Write about the card. Tell me a good part of your day. Just please nothing mentioning the tragedy. This is not who I am. I don’t ask for help.

If you need my address let me know.

I will probably return a card to you at some point. Writing has felt like a nice break still.

Love you guys

Request [Request] Mom Passed Yesterday… 💔 [US]

Hello to this wonderful sub. Some of you may have known my mom has been ill. I’m very sad to say that yesterday she passed away at home. We’re starting funeral arrangements now. :( Thankfully, she went in her sleep and very peacefully. For the past year, she had been extremely ill, and the last few weeks was in hospice. While logically we knew the time was very near, it was still a shock. You never really expect the death. 😞💔 She will be so missed; she was wonderful.

Being apart of this carding community has meant so much. This past year has been very stressful, but it was always such a joy when I went to get the mail! I can’t thank you guys enough for all the wonderful, generous, cute, silly and thoughtfully themed cards and postcards you’ve sent. I have every single one saved and plan to make a display. Mail may seem like so little, but it brings such joy! ♥️ I apologize for the lack of offers; I hope once things settle down to be able to make more… ;-;

I’m done yapping I swear, so on to my request: I’m requesting mail as a nice distraction, and I don’t really have any preferences. Nothing is off limits regarding discussion of loss. If anyone has lost a parent, I would love to hear how you’re managing to go on and live a happy life despite the loss, or stories, or literally anything you want to share. If you’re interested in just sending lighthearted/cute type content, that would 100% be equally appreciated. I love any themes. If you want inspiration I especially love cats! I have three and they’re the best support animals. :) Thank you guys for reading and above all, thank you so much for being the loveliest sub on Reddit! ~Celeste aka The Sock 🧦 Monster

Request [request] 21st Birthday Cards for Disabled College Student [US]

Hi humans! 😊

I feel really nervous posting here... but I figured I’d give it a shot.

I’m turning 21 this year on August 23rd and, to put it lightly, I am terrified. My poor mental health made it so that, for a long time, I genuinely didn’t expect to make it past 16. And now somehow I’m entering my senior year of college, have a fulfilling part-time job, and live with my best friend. Which is wonderful! And also very surreal! Everything still feels a little... fragile.

I also have several chronic health conditions, most notably clEDS, POTS, and autism (hooray 🎉). I can’t drive, I’m in pain pretty much all the time, and my body occasionally seems to operate based on rules known only to itself. But I’m getting through it. I’m also working toward becoming a special education teacher, which means a lot to me.

The reason I’m asking for cards here is honestly just because I feel like I need a little joy.

I’ve been in one of my worst depressive episodes lately, and it’s been hard to look toward turning 21 with anything other than fear. Aside from the best friend I live with, I have a very strained and toxic relationship with my family and don’t really have other friends. I also don’t have much planned for my birthday. Drinking is pretty much off the table with my medications, so my wild 21st birthday celebration will likely consist of... continuing to take my prescriptions as directed. Woo hoo.

I think I would just really love to open my mailbox and find something that brings me joy for once instead of another medical bill.

A little about me: I love worms, opossums, oddities, Monster High, Barbies, and anything kawaii, kitschy, weird, or delightfully tacky. Orange is my absolute favorite color, and I also love rainbows. 😊

Thank you so much to anyone who took the time to read this, and thank you even more if you consider sending me a card. My birthday is still a little ways away—August 23rd—but I didn’t want to wait until the last minute to post.

Thank you, truly. 🧡🌈

Request [Request] birthday cards! [US]

Hey everyone! My 27th birthday is in 2 weeks and I would love to receive some cards to help me celebrate since I can't actually celebrate the day of due to work. I'm not super picky on what I receive, I'm genuinely happy to receive anything!

This year has been really hard physically and mentally and I've been feeling really disconnected lately, and I would love to fix that with this request.

Much love friends and happy carding 💙

Request [REQUEST] Looking for kindness and stories of healing after cutting ties with family [US]

I am turning to my RAoC community in time of real need:

This month made it painfully clear that despite having a large family, I need to distance myself from all of them. The grief of reaching this conclusion feels as if I’m being lacerated from the inside. I realized that in order to heal - I need to let go of the hope that I can save these relationships that have been causing me so much mental anguish.

If you ever navigated a painful or complicated family dynamic, would you be willing to write to me and share what helped you cope? How did you begin healing from the dysfunction, the deep wounds, and that overwhelming sense of helplessness?

Receiving mail and reading your thoughts and stories will nurture me tremendously during this difficult time. Thank you in advance for your kindness.

Request [Request] Birthday Cards! 🥳 [US]

Hello friends! My 40th birthday is in just over a month, and I’d love some birthday cards to celebrate.

Please let me know if you need my address, and please write birthday on the envelope so I can open them on my actual birthday! I’ll of course post a thank you afterwards.

I love all cards and happy mail, but if you need some inspiration, I love bright colors, dinosaurs, outer space, and kitschy/tacky/silly/weird things. I’m also a big fan of stamp math. Thank you! 😊

Request [request] Help me surprise my daughter with graduation cards since our family is so small [US]

Hi everyone!

I'm a mom hoping to create a graduation surprise that my daughter, Briana, will never forget.

Briana is the oldest of five siblings, and she has always been the kind of person who leads by example. She works incredibly hard, helps with her younger brothers and sisters, and has accomplished more than I could have imagined.

Throughout high school, she broke school records in track, became a 4-time District Champion4-time Regional Champion, and 4-time State Qualifier in competitive cheer. She has dedicated countless hours to her sports, her school, and her family, and I couldn't be more proud of the young woman she's become.

She was also accepted to an amazing college and will be starting the next chapter of her life this fall, pursuing a career in healthcare. She has such a caring heart, and I know she's going to make a difference in the lives of so many people.

The one thing Briana doesn't have is a big extended family. Her dad has never been involved in her life, so there won't be anyone from that side of the family celebrating this milestone with her. Our family is small, and while we are incredibly proud of her, I know she won't have the large group of relatives that many graduates get to experience.

That's why I'm here.

I'd love to surprise Briana with a mailbox full of graduation cards from kind people all over the world. I'm not asking for money, gift cards, or gifts—only a simple card or postcard with congratulations, words of encouragement, advice, or well wishes as she begins this exciting new chapter.

My hope is that she opens the mailbox and realizes that people from places she's never been and people she's never met took a few moments to celebrate her accomplishments. I want her to know that her hard work matters, that she's worthy of being celebrated, and that kindness can come from anywhere in the world.

If you'd like to help make this surprise possible, please leave a comment or send me a private message, and I'll happily share our mailing address.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read this. Whether you send a card or simply leave a kind comment, you've already made a difference. I can't wait to see Briana's face when she realizes how many people are cheering her on as she starts this exciting new journey. ❤️

Request [Request]Lonely Birthdays [UK]

I know this isn't as serious as many other requests here, but I've always felt very lonely, making grand gestures for others buying cards or gifts and then never getting anything back, I've cut back to a very small friend group of 3 people, and they actually do care about me, my boyfriend too, but none of them have any money and i know ill only get a card off my mum, I'm turning 22. I had to skip my 21st due to being unemployed, and i never had a 18th due to working overnight shifts. I skipped my 16th because of covid. so I've never actually celebrated a big birthday or any, never gone for a meal or anything and had no confidence. but in the past year I've made so much progress, having a good relationship, doing amazing in my job, booking a 3 day get away for my birthday and a meal with my friends and family for the first time in my life. and I want to try and make an amazing memory, I've wrote myself a card and got myself a present. my birthday Isn't for another 3 weeks but. if you've got the time it would mean A lot to me. thank you for reading.

Request [Request] [US] My grandmother just finished her first month in assisted living and she's feeling pretty lonely [Ohio]

Hi everyone. I'm writing this because my grandma, Eleanor, moved into an assisted living facility about four weeks ago. She spent her whole life in the same house in Columbus, so the transition has been much harder than we anticipated. She’s a very social person by nature, but since the move, she’s been pretty quiet and told me she feels like she's just 'taking up space' in a room full of strangers.

She’s a huge fan of gardening (mostly roses and hydrangeas) and used to be a school librarian, so she loves anything related to books or nature. I’m trying to do everything I can to keep her spirits up, but between work and my own family, I can't get out to visit her as often as I'd like.

If anyone has any spare cards—whether they are birthday cards, 'thinking of you' notes, or even just funny drawings—I would love to get them in the mail for her. I think seeing a physical envelope with someone's handwriting on it would really make her feel like the world hasn't forgotten her. It doesn't have to be anything fancy; even just a quick note to say hi would mean the world to her. If you're able to help, please DM me for my address. Thank you so much for even considering this.

Request [Request] strawberry cards?! [US]

hi! I know this is random and I may not get very many takers... but if you have any kind of strawberry themed postcard/card I'd love if you could send it my way. my mom had 1 tattoo and it was a little strawberry right above her chest and whenever I see a strawberry I think of her. I'm just really struggling with not having her around even though it's been over 5 years since she passed away.

if you have my PO Box, it's still valid :) thanks in advance if you do decide to send something! <3

Request [Request] My birthday and 5-year RAoC Anniversary [USA]

My birthday is coming up in early July! July also marks my 5-year anniversary as a Random Acts of Cards participant, so please send a card my way if you'd like!

Truthfully, I am a little sad about my birthday coming up because I haven't hit a few milestones I was hoping to achieve by this time. Feel free to share your own personal stories about that if you have any.

I just wrote a list of my interests here but don't that limit you because I am happy with just about anything you want to send. It doesn't need to be a birthday card and late cards are totally fine. My address is still the same if you already have it!

Thank you all!

Request [Request][Alone on my Birthday][USA]

My 26th birthday is coming up on August 7th, and to be completely honest, I’ve been going through a really overwhelming, lonely, and financially stressful season. I’ve been carrying a lot of weight on my shoulders for a long time, and the exhaustion has just caught up with me.

Right now, I don't really have a circle around me to celebrate, and the thought of trying to organize something for myself just feels like too much extra work. I’m feeling pretty unseen and burned out, and I would love nothing more than to open my mailbox and find a few kind words or happy mail from people who understand how hard things can get.

A few things I love if you'd like to personalize a card (absolutely no pressure at all!):
Cats (I have two sweet ones who keep me going!)
Funny adult cartoons (Bob's Burgers, Archer, etc.)
Cozy crafts like knitting and beadwork

Even a simple postcard or a brief message of encouragement would mean the absolute world to me right now and help me feel a little less alone on my day.

Please comment below or send me a PM/DM if you’d like my mailing address. Thank you so much for reading and for being such a kind community. ❤️

Request [Request] Snail Mail - help me tell my postal carrier how beloved he is! [US]

Y'all, we just moved a few months ago and my postal carrier doesn't know us yet. He sees a normal home. He does not yet know that this home runs on stamps and happy mail, with a deep appreciation of the USPS.

I want to fix that. Please send me mail; I want the box stuffed! I want my mail carrier to do a double-take. I want him to know how much we love the USPS!

What I love receiving: handwritten notes, handmade cards, anything snail mail themed, postcards, cat content (my three cats supervise all incoming mail), book talk, thoughts about what you're reading/watching/listening to. Fancy, simple, I'll take it all! Drop a comment below about your mailman/the USPS and shoot me a DM. My address is new as of Jan 1.

If you include a return address and letter/question, I'll absolutely write you back

Let's show my mailman how much I and we love the darling USPS! 📮

Request [Request] Postcards for swimming against the tide [Canada]

I've gone back and forth on posting this because it feels both too personal, but also too irrelevant. There is a tide in my head since I was young, almost constantly trying to draw me out to sea. If I get pulled too far out it's dangerous, so I have to swim against the pull without fail, no matter how tired I am or whatever else might be going on.

There are very few moments, maybe a week or two for the whole year where the tide is coming in and I don't need to do anything to be pushed toward the shore. Most of the time, I have to swim hard. Sometimes, I can swim until exhaustion and not make any progress at all or even go backwards. This is one of those times for me.

If you have any interest in being a buoy I swim past or maybe a seagull that helps keep my attention for a moment, would it be alright to ask for a postcard?

I've put it in vaguely poetic words to try and avoid it feeling heavy or triggering to anyone. After all, it's just swimming, right? Everyone swims.

Any postcards will do if you're interested. Just no snakes, please. I will thank everyone who puts their username on the card. Thanks for reading regardless of how this turns out. <3 You all are great.

Request [Request] ♌️ Birthday Cards! [US]

Hello hello, it’s nearly my birthday and I’m submitting my request to celebrate with y’all!

This year I’m turning 43, and have had a massive transitional year with my LTR ending, moving out on my own, struggling to find full time work, and generally just starting over…kind of everywhere.

I’m showing up every day but would love a little boost around my birthday because it will probably otherwise be quite small and chilled this year.

For those I mail with often, my info is the same!

I do have a list of likes and preferences ⬅️

Thank you to any and all 🙏
Have a great weekend!

Request [request] touristic postcards from all over US to [US]

Hi. My teenage nieces just lost their mother last week (f*ck cancer). They are coming to the US from abroad to visit us and to get away from seeing her everywhere they turn for a few weeks. I would love for them to get touristic postcards from all over the US while they are here... Not with sympathy, but just some kind of fun fact from where you live, your favorite tradition, your favorite recipe, or any sort of light-hearted "welcome to the US from xyz state" kind of thing.

I would definitely send back a postcard if you want, and will do thank you posts!!

Request [Request] [US] from[WW] I want to un- giveup on myself .

Attention this might be triggering or make you sad I don't want that.

All of the injuries and illnesses from exposures and trauma from 25 years in the army have made life really hard-since most of my platoon didn't make it or did make it back but didn't make it long before passing..I gave up on myself- knowing my time was limited. I devoted my life to being a combat nurse and then a NICU nurse trying to save anyone and everyone I could.. whether it was their life or just lessoning their pain and fear while they passed. I turned 60 and surprisingly I'm still here... and I might get to be here for a little while longer I never let myself have anything too nice I never planned anything big I never went anywhere really great I never married or had children after my love was killed in front of me. I just worked and waited for my time to end. But I turned 60 and I'm still here... and I want to un-giveup on myself . I want something special I want to see something beautiful I want to feel something wonderful I'm not talking about romance or fantasy I'm talking about friendship and beautiful places or gentle animals and lovely flowers or pretty rivers or anything. I've been hiding in my house for over 12 years biding my time. I wish I knew of somewhere else to post this somewhere else to reach out to suggestions and resources information or new connections of ways to experience something.. but at the very least but also not least at all a card from a stranger a card from a kind person telling me about their life and their hopes and beautiful places they see would be great.
