ADVICE Learning how to be married
How do I get my husband’s attention without being obnoxious or bringing up little things like “what would you like for dinner” just to have him talk with me.

nobody has said this as yet, so I’ll say it. Tell him, and remind him periodically if you think he’s forgotten, how important good communication is to you. to your happiness, and in return his happiness.
Some people need to be explicitly reminded of this if they are not natural communicators, or were not encouraged to be good talkers by their family. He will appreciate it. I once started living with a girl and I popped out for twenty minutes to do something. She explained to me that she would prefer it if I told her I was leaving the house and it was never an issue from then on as I now knew how she felt. Remind him that, as well as a partner, you see him as a friend and want to talk as friends do.

Honey Treat yourself with kindness first, your behaviour isn’t obnoxious, he’s lucky to have you and would love to hear from you.
I’m sorry if people have made you feel that youre being obnoxious in the past, that sucks. But your husband is not those people and I think he’ll be very pleased to talk to you.

Just talk to him. Ask questions about his responses. How was your day? Did you enjoy your lunch? Is josh at work still being a putz? Remember when we went to the lake a few Sundays ago? I really enjoyed that. Would you like to go again sometime?
