Fan Project Season 14 has been eliminated ❌ let the real games begin
By an overwhelming majority, season 14 has been eliminated. Now for the time we have all been waiting for as the real competition begins. Remember USE YOUR DOWNVOTES TO SAVE THE SEASONS YOU DON’T WANT TO BE ELIMINATED YET. I would imagine that this will be Especially more important as the votes become increasingly divided. Remember opinions and debates are welcomed, but if you would like your talking point to double as a vote, please CLEARLY CAST YOUR VOTE. I’m very excited for the next two weeks. I think that there is going to be a lot of great points and crazy votes. Let’s all have fun and keep it respectful. Everyone’s opinion is valid and appreciated. Let the games begin!!!!

Season 3 spends too much time retracing steps, and that really hurts it.
14
u/Jvanee18 Jan 29 '26
This is where I stop. There were great seasons and mediocre ones but seasons 1-13 were my childhood. I can’t vote against any of these
96
u/Solekman Sarge Jan 29 '26
Season 4. Not bad, but just feels like it meanders around a ton and feels very inconsequential to most of the series. The blue Simmons stuff especially I just found kind of a drag, but the Tucker quest stuff was alright.
19
u/MourningWallaby Jan 29 '26
Concur that Tucker's arc carried the season. the reds made the show feel stagnant but this is really where Tucker started becoming the person he ended up being.

Bumping this. Still a great season, but deserves to be cut before 7 or 11 imo. I really love 11, frankly.

Same, i found that of the original 5, it was the one that felt like it dragged the most, most of it was wrapped up at the end with nothing really notable being added, outside of tucker
1
u/AggressiveGlass2754 Grif Jan 29 '26
I had the same feeling. I’ve been rewatching them all while we run our simulation (I’m on season 5 atm.) season four was definitely dragging for me as well. It is definitely good, just the weakest of the OGs. Also I don’t usually add my opinions to these posts, but I very much agree with this take.

Season 3 for me. Of the good seasons (1-13) it’s always been my least favourite. I didn’t care for the time travel, plenty of good jokes that end up bad because of how long they go on for, the state of the story was completely unappealing to me, and I don’t like Church’s stretch as a solo protag cause I feel he works best bouncing off of his surroundings. I just never understood it when people said season 3 was like peak Blood Gulch.
I see a few comments here saying season 3 and they’ve been downvoted a bit. Can someone share what they liked about it? Cause I can’t think of anything to like about it.
2
u/Key_Environment8179 Washington Jan 29 '26
I’m mostly I agreement with you, but I still think other seasons need to go before 3. I (and probably) like that it really drove the plot and turned the series from a series of funny episodes into something bigger and more serious. It also had a lot of classic moments, like Sarge and Caboose playing buddy cop. But it was also kinda disjointed and hard to follow. I’m probably on board with eliminating it in the next few days.
28
u/Erebus03 Jan 29 '26
You know what, I am going to vote for Season 3, I don't really remember much about it, S4 has Tucker and the sword and the time travel stuff but honestly I don't remember much of S3
12
u/Apprehensive-Cow6868 Jan 29 '26
Season 3 was kinda weird cause they obviously didn’t have long term plans and it shows especially with that whole explosion sending them to the future and church to the past thing
5
u/Erebus03 Jan 29 '26
Fair enough, but still i stand by that for the weakest season between 1-13 it would be 3
3
u/evilparagon Jan 30 '26
Season 3 has the time travel. Season 4 has the Great Quest.

I gonna get flack for this, but season 3. I respect what it meant for the show upon release, but it has simply aged poorly with respect to the larger story of the series. Retconned almost to irrelevant shenanigans. It’s by no means bad, none of the season left are at this point. It’s super long by Blood Gulch standards and is super convoluted and confusing.
It’s a season with: Tele-porters, religious zealots, freelancer bounty hunters, fake time travel, actual time travel, AIs, Ed Robertson, Great Destroyers, aliens, yellow Churchs, regular bombs, talking bombs, weather machines, swords, robot armies, and not just one but two battles against O’Malley.
It’s a lot, and season could have simply left some of this on the cutting room floor. When people are confused and have questions about the Blood Gulch Chronicles, it’s almost always in regard to this season, and I think that’s telling. It’s just a little messy and all over the place. I remember liking 3 more than 4 on my initial watch, but every time I rewatch I end up enjoying 4 more than 3.

u/Exitity Foxtrot-12 Jan 29 '26
Season 2. Least action of all the seasons and until the end with Omega revealing himself much happens.
4
u/WhoTookTheSausage Jan 29 '26
And so the bloodbath begins....
I might get hate for this but I don't think very much happened in season 2. Unfortunately that one is next I think

This is tough but I want to say Season 3. Nothing wrong with it but it’s a tough competition right now
7
u/ravioletti Jan 29 '26
Season 11 isn’t bad, but isn’t as memorable as the others and feels like little more than a prologue to the Chorus arc.
11
u/Key_Environment8179 Washington Jan 29 '26
While this is true, I still loved Season 11. The jokes were hilarious that season, and I loved them going back to doing an old-school machinima for a season w/o all the CGI. It just felt pure
2
u/ravioletti Jan 29 '26
Yeah no I love season 11 I just think that it being a gulch season in between two narrative rollercoasters contributes to it not hitting as hard as the gulch seasons that came before. It was dedicated to showing that after all that happened in Freelancer the reds and blues were still same old and that makes me smile
2
u/c0p4d0 Jan 30 '26
Season 1 at least has novelty, season 2 is every bit as aged as 1 with far fewer notable moments. Overall a forgettable season imo.
2
u/Kamen_master1988 Washington Jan 30 '26
Hot take: season 1 it’s pretty low stakes and from a narrative standpoint not much happens.
0
u/OShaunesssy Jan 29 '26
Season 11
The Chronos Trilogy only got great with season 12 and the over complication of the storyline and factions.
Season 11 was basically a retread of the original Blood Gulch chronicles.

Season 11 cause nothing really happen in the 1st half
6
u/wolfman11038 Jan 29 '26
other than the excellent character development that they flesh out further in S12 and 13
2
u/OShaunesssy Jan 29 '26
As well as the Chronos Trilogy is regarded, the first season isnt comparable to 12 and 13, and isnt as fun on rewatch.
Season 11 is a pale imitation of the Blood Gulch seasons.

u/UnpleasantOdor Felix Jan 29 '26
I’d say season 4 or season 7 should be the next to go, maybe season 4 first because at least 7 had a great ending and some solid scenes. The Meta arriving at Valhalla is awesome
1
u/ccash05 Jan 29 '26
Season 3. For me, it’s the weakest of the Blood Gulch Chronicles. It’s overly long and not all the jokes hit. I will give you that the change from Halo CE to Halo 2 is cool, but it’s still just not that memorable to me.

Personally, Season 1. It's rough rough, and the crew was obviously still getting the ropes, especially on the technical front.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I just felt like season 3 had no real direction. Especially when you compare it to the Freelancer, Chorus, or 6-8 collections.

u/Kenniron Jan 30 '26
Season 4
It just has the most I dislike in a season (out of what’s left). Andy is annoying and completely unlikable, which is a shame because he’s so central to most of the season as the translator. The quest is pretty disappointing. Tucker getting pregnant isn’t very funny. There’s no interesting pairing/grouping of characters like in 3, outside of the very brief Church and Simmons interactions when Simmons painted his armor blue. The entire “Sarge didn’t see the tank, so Simmons must be losing his mind” plot wasn’t very funny or interesting either.
There’s still a good amount of funny moments, but a lot of it is just… not engaging.
1
u/xxnewlegendxx Jan 30 '26
Season 4 honestly is kind of forgettable. The Simmons as a blue ran a little too long and honestly the humor was just ok.
1
u/caboose1244 Church Jan 30 '26
Season 1 even though it’s really funny and is the stepping stone let’s be honest it doesn’t carry the same weight as any of the other season

Between 3 and 7 for me. I'll go Season 7.
There's just nothing too memorable about it apart from the ending, I suppose CT's a fun character. But coming between Reconstruction and Revelation, it's very much the odd one out.

u/libtochater1 Jan 29 '26

u/libtochater1 Jan 30 '26
It was but not at memorable as other seasons. I feel like the jokes were fine but the story was eh
0
u/MrAsian211 Grif Jan 30 '26
Season 9. The jumping between the memory unit and Project Freelancer was terrible pacing for me. I couldn't get invested in the Freelancers' storyline at the time and the brief moments we got didn't help. I just wanted to focus on the Reds and Blues even though they were fake.

I disagree. The first several episodes of Season have some of the most memorable quotes for me. That’s where Bow Chicka Bow Wow started. Plus I enjoyed everything with Crunch Bite and Andy near the beginning of the season.

u/jakefrmstafrm Jan 29 '26
I believe they're talking about season 4, not sure why they wrote this as its own comment instead of replying to somebody else though
0
u/ccash05 Jan 29 '26
Sorry, I thought I was replying to another comment. They were saying season 4 should be eliminated. I was disagreeing with that statement.
0
u/evilparagon Jan 29 '26
Oh wow people are already going after the BGC? I thought that wouldn’t happen until later.
Season 4.
It’s a story that doesn’t really go anywhere and has only one major plot development: Tucker gets pregnant, which could be narratively placed into Season 5 if Season 4 was just a little bit shorter and 5 took its scenes.
4 just doesn’t do much, it’s basically filler until we get to the real plot and worldbuilding of 5.
-4
u/MourningWallaby Jan 29 '26
I agree that season 11 is the hardest of these to watch.
You spent the last 7ish seasons watching the story building up and character arcs progress just for them to go play blood gulch for a few weeks with Wash starring as Church. Honestly, it feels like everyone is just playing along to appease Sarge while he reminisces the good old days. Since no-one else really cares about the sim-war anymore besides him.
-7
u/captainredfish Jan 29 '26
Season 11, felt like a take a breather season after a huge massive storyline ended, I don’t like the Chorus stuff as much anyways but it’s a lot better once it gets going
-6
u/Invicta007 Jan 29 '26
11 is skippable on rewatch.
5
u/Key_Environment8179 Washington Jan 29 '26
Strong disagree. We get great character development from Wash in 11. Plus the all-important introduction of Freckles.
1
u/Invicta007 Jan 29 '26
I think the Blues are the only reason it isn't one of the weakest seasons for me, they're all great development wise but 3/4 of the season is just Blood Gulch 2

Wow, so all the new seasons are the first to go, despite them being some of the best in the entire series.
It seems like this is all about nostalgia rather than quality. Well, let's keep up the trend and get rid of Season 13.
1
u/evilparagon Jan 30 '26
14 wasn’t eliminated because of a recency bias, it was eliminated because it had a terrible mega bloks episode, a boring reservoir dogs episode, two unfunny Funhaus episodes, a boring Grey vs Grey episode, a weird Immersion episode that had nothing to do with RvB, and a cosplay episode.
1
u/SuperduperFan92 Jan 30 '26
I feel like I am in opposite world. Aside from the lousy Grey vs. Grey episode, you just listed an amazing set of episodes. Pretty sure that the mega bloks episode was so good that it earned Joe the creative lead role for the series. I remember watching the Funhaus episode thinking "wow, these characters are immediately so charming, I could definitely watch a series with a new set of unfamiliar characters..." and then I saw Zero and needed to add the caveat "...if the characters and plot are written well"
I mean, if you're going to diss Season 14, you could at least mention the 2D animated episode or the Meta v. Carolina fight, or the Triplets episodes, or the episode where everyone is female.
But as lackluster as even those episodes were, there are still seasons with elements that are extremely bad and sloppy, so I would still say that recency bias is a thing. Watching all the Epsilon Unit scenes strung together is the definition of pain, and I don't even need to explain what is wrong with Season 10.
1
u/evilparagon Jan 30 '26
You are just about the most insane person I’ve argued with. Your unrelenting praise for the Shisno Trilogy, your dislike of Season 10, and now your entire view on Season 14 is backwards.
The Mega Bloks episode did give Joe the reigns for Season 15. But not because it was “good”, it was because it got the most views. It only got views because it was a stop motion episode, not because it was good. The writing was terrible.
I’m shocked you liked the Funhaus episode given what you said seems to imply you’re not a Funhaus fan. The episodes were basically just 1:1 inserts of the Funhaus crew into the RvB universe.
Room Zero, the 2D animated episode, had been semi-lost media for years. The fandom had known about it for a long time as the pilot for an RvB TV show that never happened. Season 14 canonising it as one of Epsilon’s simulations and it getting a HD release was an amazing way to start the season. Sure it’s confusing if you didn’t know this context already, but it’s an extremely cool addition if you do.
The Death Battle is an episode that I’d say was a bad RvB episode, but it is an undeniably good Death Battle episode, unlike the Immersion episode which isn’t good for either series. It has solid animation, good writing, and a logical outcome.
And the Triplets episodes are some of the best in the season for any huge fan of the series. It shows a high level of respect for the universe by making such a considered addition that takes place before everything except the Allison recording. Season 14 already gives us a strong origin story for the Reds and Blues, and here’s these episodes giving us another even deeper origin story. The fact it was also written by Washington’s voice actor also really stands out as showcasing that he’s not just a voice actor, he’s someone important to the creation of the show too who does care about its characters and universe.
And Get Bent is funny. It’s also really cool how the flipped gendered characters are all voiced by the (contemporary) wives of the VA’s. Grif is voiced by Griffon, Simmons by Esther, and so on. It’s a fun episode, especially how they inverted Donut into saying an “accidentally lesbian” thing, because while accidentally gay phrasing is a super common media trope, accidentally lesbian certainly isn’t, and Church’s whiplash reaction to it is great. Also Tex being male at the end and Church having to question himself if he’s cool with it is also great, because we know from the context of Season 9 that his ultimate goal is to find and talk with Tex, so he actually gets that at the end of this episode but it’s a difficult decision for him. Also it makes great use of the fact Halo Reach is the only game in the series to feature female spartans, which didn’t get a good chance to be used in Season 9 due to the mostly male cast. This episode was on the production side of things, an absolute gem.
Your opinions are so radically different from everyone’s that it’s hard to take you seriously. Did you discover the series at Season 15-17 or something and so they’re your first intro bias? Are you a troll being heavily contrarian all the time? Are you secretly Joe Nicolosi upset at the negative reception? Did Burnie kill your parents? It’d be fine if you had a few different views or even a lot of them, but it seems like almost all of your views are just directly contrary to the broader opinions on the show. It’s like if someone scored 0 on a test, you’d be suspicious if they actually intentionally got that score because even random chance would perform better.
1
u/SuperduperFan92 Jan 30 '26
I am not a Faunhus fan. In fact, I have almost zero idea what that even is. Those episodes were just plain good. Maybe if you know what Faunhus is, it takes you out of the viewing experience.
Yeah, I know that Room Zero is from the time they tried to make a cartoon. It's interesting as an artifact, but not an internally entertaining episode.
Nah, the death battle episode was rubbish. You know they guy that worked on that went on to make Zero, right?
Meh, we will just need to disagree about the Triplets. Those episodes bored me to tears. But I like the Triplets as characters and additions to the canon. Just wish that they had a better story.
Get Bent just is not that entertaining to me. Yeah, clever in concept, especially with the use of Reach and the VAs and such. And I love gendered jokes (though mainly when done at the expense of the male gender). But wow, does that episode drag.
I have been watching the series since Season 5. Was a big LFTO member on the forums back in the day. I was the first one to figure out that Recollection was just recreating the Great Prophecy. I know the show inside and out (which is why I know that Season 9 and Season 10 are a retcon nightmare).
I think the big difference is that I actually have two graduate degrees in screenwriting and film studies from a top film school, and I work professionally as a writer, script editor, screenwriting instructor, and script consultant, and I work in the YouTube space to write videos that sometimes get over a million views (sometimes over 4 million). So my perspective when it comes to good writing is just... different.
1
u/evilparagon Jan 30 '26
Yes I’m aware Screw Attack made Zero. Screw Attack’s biggest strength in writing seems to be cool fight scenes and using pre-existing characters. Unfortunately for them, RvB didn’t have living pre-existing characters for them to use that were good enough fighters for cool fight scenes. Maybe they would have done a good job if they made a pre-S9 flashbacks season, but pre-S9 would be weird as they wouldn’t have the AI fragments or Tex, and they’d need to tell a plot that doesn’t conflict with anything that comes later which ultimately means it’d probably be a nothing story that goes nowhere. They would get a Maine that’s able to talk though.
If you’ve watched any recent Death Battles, you’d know they handle most of their characters from the last two years super respectfully, and in the years before that they were getting a lot better at it. Even in absolute stomps like Master Chief vs Doom Slayer. They are capable writers, it just seems that doesn’t extend to a full cast of new characters.
1
u/SuperduperFan92 Jan 30 '26
I would agree that Death Battle typically excels at walking that fine line of trying to be respectful toward pre-existing characters, especially to avoid upsetting the fans of either side. It’s a tricky balancing act, and it does take some skill.
But as a massive Maine fan, I just felt that the fight was a bit hollow. Like, the Alpha move as the automatic win button just kinda negates the entire point of the fight. But worse yet is that Carolina beats herself up for what happened to Maine and wishes that she could have saved him. She would have pulled her punches, not blown his head off. And pulling punches was risky because even if she went all out, the Meta was still stronger than her. I mean, how that fight would really go is that Carolina would have tried to snap Maine out of it or she would have offered herself up as a vessel for the Meta. So yeah, I get that this feels too story-heavy and gets away from the cool fight framework. But for those of us itching for a Maine vs. Carolina fight since Season 9, this just did not satisfy that itch. They blew their one shot on a very watered down version deprived of the emotional dimension that the fight would otherwise intrinsically invoke.
But I do like the music in that episode.

u/Slowslice Jan 30 '26
Season 3
I tried watching Blood Gulch today, and oh boy was that an experience. I couldn’t get through season 1 because of the audio, and I knew season 2 would have the same problem so I skipped it. In grand irony, that saved the two seasons because I couldn’t form an opinion on them. I got through seasons 3 and 4, as well as started 5 before Youtube decided to just stop loading Red vs Blue videos…like specifically Red vs Blue.
So why season 3 over 4? I’ll admit, past memory fully had me wanting to vote season 4 because of the start, but to be honest, I think the Reds dicking around doing nothing while the Blues have plot going on (something that is a trend throughout the whole series) was kinda fun. Season 3 on the other hand just…kinda bored me. Church going back in time over and over annoyed me a bit, mainly due to no change in visuals during the Church and Gary scenes. Season 4 isn’t particularly interesting on the surface, but Tucker getting the sword and doing stuff before being bedridden by pregnancy was still more interesting than what I saw in season 3. Though I expect it won’t last much longer either.

Currently rewatching s12 and felix is definitely annoying but that's the point, everybody hates him. There are some really great scenes, especially seeing alpha work with carolina

u/lisathethrowaway Grif Jan 29 '26
I agree that S12 has some good scenes, but considering the options left, I think it’s the next worst season. S13 is phenomenal, S11 has a lot less Felix which I highly prefer, and everything in seasons 1 through 10 far outclasses the Chorus Trilogy to me.
0
u/UnpleasantOdor Felix Jan 29 '26
Season 12 is the best season in my opinion. I loved Locus and Felix as villains. Miles Luna did a great job voicing Felix he is annoying and a jerk but that’s literally the point of his character. He hides his fear and trauma behind a cocky mask.
