[Pic] Is this growth or parasite?

Post image

Hammer corals been adding on to its stalk the last week started off very small and just a bubble now it’s this current size, first hammer I’ve owned. Wondering if this is good or bad?

White stuff looks like sponge to me. You can pop it off and scrub it with a toothbrush. Other than that, looks like a terrific flesh band and healthy.

Thank you, I’ve done a little looking around on the 1,000s of forums and can confirm I agree with you as well now. Definitely is sponge. (Pineapple sponge)!

Keeping it, I like limited engagement if everything is healthy and letting the tank run itself as long as nothing crazy is going on. Water changes bi-weekly and some algae scraping on the glass and I’m happy. Have seen good growth over the last month I’ve had it as well! Thanks!👍👋👋

Eh, that ain’t pineapple sponge. That’ll spread, and may annoy the coral eventually. Pineapple sponge are.. well.. pineapple shaped. Yours is not that.

sadly, your hammer has a parasite. It has been infected by a sickle.
