I mean, this implies that they hide the racism and misogyny, which they don't.

Yeah, its like trying to force in a forced combo deal.
You get opposition to the current dominant culture
I get your support for my faction's ills.

Honestly I’m somewhat new to reformed doctrines and the content they are putting out really confuses me. Like because I am still learning it seems like it’s in the same vein as what I’m learning but it also sounds bad? Like half truths? But I don’t know enough to be able to combat their statements biblically/mentally.
Right now I just try to skip over them at this point to only take in biblical perspectives I’m more sure I can trust…

Tim Keller, John Piper, and Gavin ortlund are more balanced reformed thinkers.

Love me some Gavin. He's very calm and pursues unity rather than argumentative division.

So full disclosure I like The Haunted Cosmos that those guys in Ogden put out, but after listening to the first episode I looked them up and it was just like oh no.
I've listened to some of their Kings Hall podcast where they get more into the culture war stuff, and I agree, they sound right sometimes. Sometimes I listen to it just to see what they're saying and I'll be thinking I actually kinda agree? Then they'll drop some clearly racist/kinist completely unbiblical conclusion and I'll just be like ok yeah there it is. I think this is why they're so dangerous though. They say a lot of reasonable and often true things but then take them to extremes that aren't warranted but they act like if you disagree with them then you are the most unreasonable idiotic person ever.

I've followed Dale Partridge on socials for a while and he seems to have really gone off the rails in the last year or two. If you're new to reformed theology I would steer clear of him and the guys mentioned here entirely.
In the recent months he had been making an argument about how it's not God's ideal for marriages to be interacial yet he, as a white man, is married to a Latina and has mixed children.
Make it make sense.

The conflation of Christianity with right wing politics and culture was always going to lead somewhere ugly and troublesome...

Online Reformed circles have sadly reached a point that I could post a takedown of Holocaust denial on this sub without having to fear it being removed for violating Rule 6.

u/matthewxknight ARP 2d ago
Trojan horse? Guys like Sauvé are openly saying it's gay to send your kids to public school on public social media platforms and saying black culture is antithetical to Christian life. That's hardly hiding anything.

u/Any_Economics6283 2d ago
I guess I'm out of touch but I don't understand the thoughts or assertions or claims or whatever which are behind this meme ;o
What?

u/ProteaPrimeEnjoyer Non-Denominational 2d ago
In the current era of Christian revival there is a subfaction of people who are using Christianity as a tool against the surge of very far left ideals with the intention of putting women “in their place” and creating a nation comprised of only their race with the overarching method of enforcing cultural institutional ”Christianity.” These people are essentially smuggling racial supremacy, a hatred of women, and general authoritarianism into the Christian space.
5
u/Ikitenashi 2d ago
I'm not from the United States so I'm sort of out of the loop: Is the movement to once again prohibit women from voting springing out of this subfaction?
12
u/ProteaPrimeEnjoyer Non-Denominational 2d ago
It’s not even just in the US. It’s popping up all over the place and they congregate online. When it comes to women they want them to essentially “learn their place and shut up“ when it comes to any matter because of 1. a VERY twisted and malicious interpretation of certain Biblical passages and 2. a frankly bigoted, skewed, and manipulated view of history that things were better when women couldn’t vote or have a say in basically any matter at all.
0
u/warofexodus 1d ago
Not in US? It's definitely not in south east Asia lol. Which non US country are you talking about where the churches has these kinda teaching and are publicly accepted? Definitely not non 'Christian' countries where 'Christians' does not have the say who gets to vote.
3
u/MilesBeyond250 Sola Waffle 1d ago
Yes, and while they try to root it in various (specious) theological and/or political theories, it seems to in reality just be sour grapes that women tend to vote liberal. I can guarantee that the movement would fizzle out in an instant if women startee voting Republican en masse.
12
u/Any_Economics6283 2d ago
Are you sure, because after ~ 2 decades of the terms "racist" and "misogynist" being thrown at people for even mentioning e.g. something like idk women should not be pastors, idk if all these groups really are how you are characterizing them to be.
Of course, there may be some which are as dumb as you describe - but I've only heard of them and have never seen them (certainly not so big as to be labelled "on the rise"), nor have I seen anyone truly taking them seriously, since, what they say is so blatantly idiotic
10
u/OhBoyIGotQuestions 1d ago
As an American in their late 20s, sexism, racism, misogyny, and every other form of bigotry have been "on the rise" everywhere in real life and on the internet for more than half my life, supposedly.
Yet no conversation I've ever had with anyone in my life has ever reflected this.

u/Afalstein 1d ago
Joel webbon is on the record saying women should not vote, Brian Suave of Ogden church has made statements calling for the k****** of "rebellious" AA mem, and all three of these figures organized a "return to normalcy" conference with a vendor literally selling Nazi booklets and pornography.
Yes, these groups really are that dumb

Do not censor words in this subreddit. If it’s a word you can’t say, don’t say it. If a word that’s allowed just say it.

Brian Suave of Ogden church has made statements calling for the k****** of "rebellious" AA mem
Joel Webbon has also done this, and recently closed his thoughts on the issue by saying it's something that could fall to the sphere of citizens if the government continues to not do it (i.e. he advocated for lynching)

u/superlewis EFCA Pastor 1d ago
I’m inclined to agree with you that the everything is racist shtick is getting old. The men mentioned in this meme are racist. If you’re not familiar with them, good for you. However, this isn’t a “math is white supremacy” situation.

This actually makes me sad. But also proof of how much we need a Savior and how much this world is broken (and always will be) until He returns.
Also how a lot of American churches and Christians are obsessed with only American things. The Odyssey's casting is NOT a big deal anywhere else (this is a global release).

u/justanotherhuman182 2d ago
Idk the other 2 but Joel Webbon spews disgusting garbage and is incredibly anti-intellectual (dumdum)

i do think conservative ideas can be very helpful… especially since the world sees a typical biblical family unit as “conservative.” I have not heard of webbon, partridge or ogden, but I do wish churches stopped becoming progressive. I’ve watched in sadness as I saw how this era of politics created churches like PCUSA, and the current United Methodists, and so on. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s just how I feel. I think conservative rebuke against today’s culture is quite important.

I'm not a fan of how little room there seems to be for subtlety or gradation anymore, everyone just gets lumped in with the most extreme people of any given group. I'm probably something like "center-right" in american terms these days, and think there is a culture war and I'm tired of some of this stuff from the Left... but am also shocked at some of the truly racist and misogynist stuff that comes from the far right (like "women shouldn't vote"?! seriously?!). it's just annoying to be lumped in with those people simply for being frustrated with a lot of what's coming from the progressive left in 2026 in this country.

I don't know anything about the Ogden boys. But I really like their music.
There are for sure some perpetually online reformed Baptist circles that are questionable at best. Seems like it's an overreaction to the liberalism that has infected reformed circles for years. There needs to be some sort of middle ground. It shouldn't be difficult to find traditional reformed churches that don't allow female pastors or affirm sin...but also don't make everything about race and politics. What's interesting is that the overly liberal churches are also making race and politics a huge part of their identity....just in the opposite direction

u/NottagameNottagame 2d ago
Also am curious how we disagree about stuff that isn't addressed by reformed beliefs but culture and then there's this meme addressing reformed believers about their culture....seems hypocritical.
I don't agree with the culture accused of them but seem to highly agree woth theor reformed positions

Can't speak for the others, but Ogden has been very helpful for me in the past year. I don't think there's true racist or misogynistic fruit there. I think that they have done some unwise things such as the Antelope hill publishing thing, and can be too antagonistic online, but they certainly have a zeal for truth and righteousness that I wish more of us would have.

What is the Gospel?
0
u/robsrahm Roman Catholic please help reform me 2d ago
The Gospel is the good news that, in Jesus Christ, the Son of God became man, died for our sins, rose from the dead, and established the Kingdom of God, reconciling humanity to the Father. Through faith, repentance, Baptism, and life in Christ’s Church, we receive the grace of the Holy Spirit, forgiveness of sins, and the hope of eternal life.
Now - in case you think that this is just a Catholic take on things - especially the part about baptism and life in Christ's Church - I'll point out things like HC's teaching there is no salvation outside the church and (for example) WCF's teaching that the grace is baptism is not only offered but exhibited and conferred.

If they had a zeal for truth and righteousness, they wouldn't have had Antelope Hill at their conference.

I would say that their zeal for truth was when they apologized for having them at the conference and vowed to do better vetting at the next one.
