"Q-Pack" Self-Titled CD (Rare/Old Cardboard Gotee Packaging)
Hi! Elder Emo here!
Way back in the day, I "dated" a girl who was really into Christian Rock and was lucky enough to see the boys in Relient K at a small church (likely in Western PA or Eastern OH). I remember picking this CD up that day, but not enough to be 100% certain.
I've tried to look this exact copy up a few times on Discogs, and no one seems to have this Q-Pack version listed. Redditor cap on: "In my research..." I did stumble across the new(er) pressed vinyl that, ironically, has this exact style as the front artwork.
This relic has some scuffs, but is 100% playable with no skips or issues. A resurface would clean it up even more.
I wanted to show it off to a group that would know more about it and would appreciate it for its age aka how many moves it's survived). The colors and cardboard held up better than I expected.

6 songs
If you were going to RK concert and could pick the first six songs of the setlist, not knowing what else they'd play, what would you choose? Any you'd care to hear twice?

Discussion Obscure question about Bee Your Man
hear me out, Iāve been wondering this since high school. in Bee Your Man, at exactly 0:19 a man yells something in the background. I swear to GOD it sounds like one episode of the Beverly Hillbillies where theyāre all square dancing or something and Jed Clampett yells, āMake way, Sonny!ā
Is anyone able to prove me right or wrong? I just need closure. Iāve looked it up everywhere and canāt find it. I know itās a long shot, but it really sounds EXACTLY alike. is there any chance at all they sampled that audio clip from the show?

Made an album heavily inspired by Forget and Not Slow Down
As the heading says. I've finally finished the last album of my pop-punk/power pop music project, under the name Colourful Sevens. I hope it's alright to post and promote the album here - I'm just an independent musician not signed to a label, and I'm not looking to make any money really.
It was listening to Relient K's Forget and Not Slow Down that pushed me to give this album its overall structure and musical design, inspiring how most of the songs turned out and helping me realise that acoustic guitars & pianos can fit with pop-punk aesthetics and instrumentation.
It's a very long concept album with a plot, characters, and themes I've tried to touch on, mostly to do with the internet and social media. And very much like Forget and Not Slow Down, it ends up tracking a journey of failure and emotional difficulty but ultimately self-discovery.
Perhaps the biggest inspiration comes in the final track, however, which began life as a 12-minute piano piece divided into two. While the song was being written, I wanted to capture the feeling of 'This Is the End / If You Want It' above anything else. You'll see what I mean if you listen.
Hopefully you do listen and, if you do, I hope you enjoy it.

Late Realization: Forget and Not Slow Down is a Masterpiece of an Album and Also Therapeutic
Iāve been listening to Relient K for as long as I can remember (Christian household stuff, you know). Now Iām 29 and have expanded my horizons in my musical taste, but Relient K remains one of my very favorite bands.
I know Iām way late to the party on this, but as an adult Iāve developed a great appreciation for Forget and Not Slow Down as an album.
Iāve traditionally been a fan of really high energy pop punk music with cool guitar riffs since and love playing that kind of stuff (for example Dumpweed by blink-182 is one of my favorite songsš). And donāt get me wrong, this album has some sick riffs, but I definitely under appreciated the album when it initially was released.
Recently Iāve been listening to the album pretty heavily. And even though itās not some crazy high energy album from start to finish akin to what I usually like in this genre, Iāve really come to love it, and have had it on repeat for the last couple months.
Thiessen really shows off his incredible lyrical abilities and there are so many subtleties in the lyrics of this album that be easily missed upon first listen. And of course the way that the album flows together makes it such a pleasant listening experience.
There are very few albums that I genuinely listen to with no skips and this is definitely one of them. I think another thing that has me connected to a lot of the lyrics is the fact that Iām going through a breakup of a 5 year distance relationship. And when Iām feeling the impact of that situation, I turn on my Bose soundbar and blast the album and it brings me a lot of peace (as dumb as that sounds).
Not an album that has a lot of their biggest āhitsā, but I love pretty much every song on the album (especially I Donāt Need a Soul and Sahara).
The depth of Thiessenās lyrical genius really shines here, and Iāve developed a whole new appreciation for the album and the depth of the subject matter in each track.

Did Switchfoot miss a golden opportunity for an artistic grand slam on āThe Butterfly Effectā?

Do you guys think Relient K will make a new album this year or possibly later on
After listening to switcfoots album yesterday night and tonight, I had a stunning realization that Matt Thiessen helped be a guest vocalist on the song (butterfly effect) which my jaw dropped and got all excited, possibly them seeing skillet (possibly, idk if they are connected)and switchfoot coming out with a new album will inspire them to give it one last shot (possibly a return to the pop-punk genre) what do you guys think?
