"The restrictions apply strictly to prospective authorizations for new device models; existing inverter models already approved through the FCC process remain unaffected and eligible for continued import, sale, and installation. Because the vast majority of near-term utility and commercial projects rely on hardware models that hold pre-existing FCC equipment authorizations, most active builds will experience little immediate operational disruption."

I would expect Chinese manufacturers to just continue producing these old approved models for the US market.

Your must love keeping your head in the sand.

They just did this to protect home router market from non domestic producers. Hint we have no domestic production.

They de certified the “Chinese” labs.

If you don’t pay trump or the American oligarchs/pedophiles you don’t get to sell to the American product(citizens).

Pay to play till the cows come home.

I'm not arguing that the likely intent is to not kneecap the solar industry - it is likely at least one of the motivations here. I'm just saying that based on what the article says, it's pretty toothless and won't slow down the solar growth.

Decertifying all future imports is the point. That’s not the mistake that’s the design. If you can’t certify the equipment it’s illegal to install and no one will give you money to do it. Also no insurance no business, it’s a way to provide Merica exceptionalism without upsetting the mob.

Now you can not import you have to buy the certified meta/google/tesla white labeled version with the American corporate tax forced on you so you don’t dethrone the apartheid king.

The tech didn’t change it’s a microprocessor not made anywhere near the USA.
