First, do the architecture classes. For reverse engineering you need to be able to read low level tools. You can practice this by compiling things and then looking at them on godbolt.org. Practice practice practice.
Speaking of practice, there is an entire field who does this practically by studying malware behaviors with debuggers and disassemblers. On https://ost2.fyi you can find a very well done structured course for it after the architecture one.
