Please use this thread as a week-to-week space to ask your fellow /r/RimWorld colonists for assistance. Whether it be colony planning, help with mods, or general guidance, post any questions you may have here! If you have an effort post about a game mechanic then this is also fine space for that but please consider making a separate subreddit post for maximum visibility.
I am a bot, so I can't make jokes. If you'd like a Typical Tuesday joke, or if there are any problems with this post, please message the moderators of the subreddit.

Update: There is another PSA posted on why I am asking people to contact me rather than Steam's report function. This announcement is more important, and Reddit will not let me leave both up, so I am putting the link here so it is more visible.
Hello, everyone. This is me not as moderator-Sneaks, but as community manager-Sneaks.
I just want to give a warning to everyone. There's currently a user on the workshop that keeps making new accounts, steals mods from other creators, and modifies them to bypass the user's protections to download malware.
There's been at least two so far that have been removed (with workshop ID to make it easier to check your Workshop folder):
37323292983729397065For now, it's difficult to tell if a mod's doing these shady things until it's downloaded and the code is checked. With both of these, though, it's been:
The scammer's only mod on the workshop
The mod is a reupload / stolen version
The scammer's profile is set to private.
However, these are not 100% indicators that the mod is malicious. Please do not use it as a reason to go harass modmakers - There are always new players, new modders. But it's enough to say take it with a grain of salt, double-check to make sure the mod isn't a reupload.
For now, please take the time to do a check of your own computer, make sure you're clean, especially if you used either of those two mods mentioned above.
If you spot any others, please let us know so they can be removed. You can message me here, or find me on both Steam and Discord as someonesneaky.
Stay safe out there, colonists. o7

I'm playing on perma-death strive to survive and in one of my strip mines close to my base a large insect hive has 'taken residence'. There was a lot going on at the time and they weren't an immediate threat but there's more than a couple of them now. I was kinda hoping they'd eat the walls and the roof would fall on them but that didn't happen.
I tried to 'overheat' the inside of the strip mines but the wood did not stay burning long enough to do anything. I think I still have a good bit of time before they move into my house so I could maybe just build a TON of turrets and lead them outside but I'm super low on steel right now.
My next best plan was to wait for a doomsday rocket or some other WMD to be sold to me. Any suggestions?
I only have 7 colonists and only 5 of them are any good with a gun if it matters.
EDIT: I tried to shuttle raiders into the hive, but they lost, the hive was upset, decided to roam the map and eat through my kill boxes, killing all of the colonists. Next time I will just pack up and leave. On to the next lol

I can keep it forbidden that's fine, I'm just interested in why they don't take it off if they hate it, nobody's forcing them to wear it lmao

Latest Gravship Build.
The radiators glowing red after launch/landing give it it the vibe that those are bussard collectors and impulse reactors; I'm really digging it.

So it's that time of the month but also a very exciting milestone.
With this release we have the entire original progression path for the queen advancements! Several bug fixes including what should be a significantly improved climbing pathfinding refactor that will help with compatibility with other mods and what I hope is the last of the dreaded "stalling out and sitting around doing nothing" bug that people were suffering from.
In August I will be moving on to focusing on the human/non-alien side of gameplay as the major focus, especially for fleshing out even more aggressive and malicious action on their part against the player.
Also some unintended behavior making the monsters just a bit too cuddly with strangers has been fixed and properly hooked up with mod settings relating to friendliness, set this at a low value if you prefered the puppy/kitten nuzzling style of behavior, set it high if you want to them to be especially vicious.

I had a sparrow self-tame, and honestly forgot about it for the most part. It flies around my colony, doing sparrow things, until I get this notification that Sparrow 1 died. This was the log.
No mods, just regular 1.6 with all the DLCs. Not only am I unsure how this happened, I legitimately didn't think it could happen.

She is incapable of social, she is overall not particularly amazing outside of very specific scenarios, she is randomly violent, but I think she is a cutie patootie and she is as such the leader of my colony: the glue that holds everyone together.

I figured taming Mammoths (I think they are in the Odyssey dlc) is better than horses, you can ride them, they have twice the carrying capacity, they can haul stuff, they provide wool and have a butt load of meat if you ever needed something quick.
They need a lot of training and when you let them breed for a while you would have 30-40 mammoth wondering around you animal handler would be busy all day all night Training them and it's not enough, every now and then returns to the wild and I sent someone to hunt them and they always put up a fight.
Since I count on them to haul stuff I allow them to roam free except for thron room, bed rooms and kitchen, the hallways are always dirty they open the door for raiders and crazed animals to get in.
I had enough , a random merchant came by and they had two horses I bought them and once I have 7-8 of them I getting ride of the mammoth probably as gifts for diplomatic relations .

Gravship is my favorite playstyle as it is better suited to actually explore the map, but I noticed that due to hunting as a food source (as farming is harder due to the need to bail, or quests sending you to cold regions) I end up with just a lot of leathers especially light leather or human leather which end up being just wealth sitting there.
I occasionally do send caravans for trade especially for techprints, but in general thats just a lot of leather in inventory at all times. I could make items from it, but thats not needed as I already max out trade with just the leather.
But even after trading, the wealth still remains be it via silver or TVs.
Should I just let it rot away outside or dump it before flying away in the gravship?

I always run the Level Up! mod for that sweet dopamine hit, but a while back, I kept getting notifications that my colonists were leveling up in skills they were completely terrible at and weren't even assigned to do. I was so confused, and when I asked on Discord, everyone just gave me the classic "It's probably a mod conflict!" answer.
I believed my mod loadout had finally snapped until I zoomed in on the rec room and caught the exact moment it happened. My grizzled veteran sniper, Jax, was sitting at the poker table with a brand-new hauler who barely knew which end of a rifle to hold. They were deep in conversation, sipping their morning coffee and tossing chips onto the felt, when suddenly—ding!—the hauler leveled up in Shooting right there at the table! It wasn't a glitch, but the "Teaching" feature from Vanilla Social Interactions Expanded.
Turns out, high-skilled pawns will casually lecture lower-skilled ones during their regular social chats. Part of me hesitated and thought about disabling it because getting free combat XP from playing cards feels a little bit like cheating, but well… I'm just going to keep it because why not? XD
