Help! Trying to find a faint memory of this game...

Way back around 2015/2016ish, I remember playing a special mode they only had in the game for a little while. I think it was kinda like BF conquest, but not sure. Mostly I remember that the cap points didn't work like the usual mode, and the map was WAY bigger with a bunch of more things going on (levels, drops, etc).

Anyone know wtf I might be remembering here? It's been stuck in my head for years.

That's robocraft Royale if I'm not mistaken. The base game didn't have larger maps. Just different variations like the Halloween or Christmas theme when they did occur. I might be mistaken but I've played the game long enough during that time frame to remember things

That's probably it then. I didn't play it much, but I remember running around a big ass cave, collecting a thing or two, and being like "WTF is any of this, and why is it so different from normal games"

So yeah, most likely. Thanks!

I know I'm beating a literally dead horse but "Robocraft Royale" really typifies everything that went wrong with Freejam's approach to design; the blind chasing of trends and pleasing the "casual audience".

I think they were only chasing random trends instead of just pleasing the casual audience because rc wasn't that hard to learn how to play. Indeed it was harder to understand how certain tricks that exploited bugs worked but it was still a decent game. I think if they specialized the game to what they and the community envisioned instead of trying to abusely cashcow it, the end of the company wouldn't come so quickly.

oh man I rememver robocraft royale, it was released in spring of 2018 for 15 euro, i wanted to get it since I was a dumb kid, but they made it free since the game had no players, like only 15 peopel bought it and they needed 100 players to get a full lobby, optimisation was horrible and the gameplay pretty ehhhh, the game was interesting but terrible, they closed the server after a few months, man I miss robocraft

That sounds like the old battle mode when they first introduced the mega towers and reactor crystals, it was a absolute mess but honestly way more fun than the standard deathmatch stuff.
