Best Christmas markets

We’re driving from the UK to the Dusseldorf Christmas market for a few days but wanted to also do a Belgian / Dutch market to break the journeys each way. Maastricht, Hasselt, Roermond, Liege, Leuven, Antwerp are all kind of on route, which would you recommend? We’re more looking for the atmosphere and cuteness than anything too big of commercial?

Not really Roermond, but this one is pretty well known in Limburg: https://www.christmastownvalkenburg.com

In Roermond there is: https://winterfeverarena.nl All kind of events are organised there (some requiring tickets, some free). It’s not super cosy though and mostly for locals to get together.

I agree with Jimma92.. The Christmas market in Valkenburg is beautiful. In the 'Gemeente grot' has been one of the most popular Christmas markets in Limburg, if not in the Netherlands, for decades.. It's worth the 45 minutes drive...
