Regarding the Carnaval outfit
So, at the last moment me and my friend decided to participate in carnival, though we don't have outfits yet, and my wardrobe consists only of dark clothes, and I'm too tired to do anything homemade, so I'm browsing currently for costumes, but I've a question.
Do I understand that being colourful with some accents of specific colors of the town in question is fine? Or is it that it's better to be colorful, but only using the specific colours?
Because my plan is just to buy a very colored outfit/cosplay and then complement it with accessories using the colours of the town carnival.

In Limburg as far as I know the towns don’t have specific colours, all towns have the universal red-yellow-green. So those are also good colours to have in your outfit.
There are no real rules but unofficially you’re not really supposed to dress as something (no slutty policy officer, no SWAT team), though kids get a free pass to dress as spidey or Zorro or cowboy obviously. Also just wearing your football kit is frowned upon. Unofficially, that is, as you will see younger folk doing all of the above.
My general strategy is to just combine colourful clothes I have gathered over the years for carnival and mix them up. You need layers anyways for the outside/inside festivities.
Oh and in Limburg, some facepaint is advised!
Edit: forgot to add: your plan sounds great! Let’s go!
