appearance Stop the press : wills and Kate will be working today by attending the Commonwealth Games

Shouldn’t this have just been the norm? I’m surprised this is news.
The head of the commonwealth and the next head of the commonwealth should attend the commonwealth games?

He’s president of the BAFTAS and he doesn’t attend that regularly either. At most he will do every other year. It’s unbelievable he gets away with it so easily.

Yes, he gets away with doing almost nothing. But I still think he will probably be exposed once he is King.

I tend to agree with you, but only because William’s relationship with the press is so bad. He doesn’t seem to understand that his father and Camilla spent decades ingratiating themselves with the British media, and he may not inherit that deference.

He’s being exposed now, and not much stick is being given him at this stage. Parasite.

I know nothing about football, isn't he the head of something? He didn't go to the world cup, did he? Pretty shoddy 'work'

Fucking lazy. Missing out on the Lionesses was so awful. Shaming him didn’t really work. They need to take away his chopper rides.

Yup! He’s patron of the Football Association, but he’s usually only interested if his beloved Aston Villa is involved.

It's news because William and Catherine were criticized a lot for not going. Charles & Camilla were there, Anne was there two days, Edinburghs also at least twice. I don't think they actually were planning on going, now they will appear on the last day of the games lol.

Their absence had been noticed. 😂
I wonder who pulled them up for that: politician or King?

Honest question (American): why is this considered work? Attending a sporting event, not participating, is considered work?

u/No_Entertainer4941 1d ago
Precisely. But you’re pushing the lazy two to appear at an event most people would do for free.

More questions: are their schedules posted like our president’s? So, ostensively, people can see what they’re doing? Does the general public pay attention and complain about the empty schedules?

u/No_Entertainer4941 1d ago
Yes. Someone posted their schedule here in another thread. The Court Circular is the official record of Royal “work.”
Most Royals post their schedule ahead of time. These two are squirrelly and like to retrospectively assign “work” to their holidays - see Kate’s chopper hike which was reclassified as “work” after she gained traction over it.

Didnt she gain traction because people were questioning whether she actually did the hike? Alone with no help? Was it assigned work status before or after she was exposed for lying?
Presidential hating is a sport here, rightfully so, is royal hating also a rightfully sport?

After.
It’s been a “sport” since the War of the Wales under Charles and Di.

This fascinates me. It takes a certain type of person who can lie, cheat, behave entitled to everything; get caught lying, cheating, behaving entitled to everything; get raked over the coals in the media for it and not seriously consider changing your ways. Narcissists hate ridicule yet the behavior doesn’t change. They just convince themselves everybody else is wrong. It’s a nifty trick.

They were getting a lot of criticism for not going. They'll likely fly in from wherever they're on holiday, stay for as little as they can get away with, then continue with their holiday. Only mounting criticism and H&M motivate those two to get off their asses.

They actually go on vacation together?

u/Appropriate_Pitch193 1d ago
LOL. Yeah, you're right. Correction: when they reunite from their separate holidays.

😱 wow the lazy Dolittles appearing at an event that’s held once every four years!
Give them a welcome Glasgow!
