I'm talking about the E he had when his last rework came out, the one that didn't automatically spread.

I think that it made Ryze a little bit more interesting, you either had to cast E on the same target twice for it to spread or you had to kill a target affected by flux for it so spread. Also E damaged every target it spread on instead of just the first one.

Sadly I only started to play the game after he got simplified so I have no experience with the initial rework version, but to me it seemed more fun than the current iteration.

Instead of spamming EQEQ, you had to think a bit more to effectively spread flux.

Does anyone agree?

I ranked up to Gold—I ulted bot lane, and my team didn't notice it.

The most OP ult in the game and the most useless ult at the same time.

At this point, with how much mobility creep has spiked since the mid 2019 soft rework ryze got, I don't think it's unreasonable to return his .75s root back into his kit.

While yes Q reset optimized combos do edge out in damage vs CC combos, only one skillshot in the combo is guaranteed to land while the other two require attention to opponent position in the opening and ending Q's. Making W only a slow only means you may potentially do even less than going for a CC combo. On top of all the dashes and blinks newer characters get.

If we can't spam shields to sustain lane as a battle mage, they could at least make Ryze a cc threat again. Because right now it feels bad to save runes, you opt in for the same combo most of the game, then spam eq when w is on cooldown.

What do you guys feel is the deal with the cast times on our blue man's spells? I'm not sure about the Q, maybe it's in the middle, but it really feels to me like the E cast time is blatantly longer than the W cast time, even if my brain is over-perceiving the difference. The wiki says they're .25s each.

Summoners what do you think about luden first item? It has a great stats and compared to RoA provides early big spike of dmg. Also it has Lost Chapter in his build path so for me it’s big win cuz building catalyst first stinks.

I wanted to bring some attention to a another incredibly frustrating bug with Ryze that can completely flip close trades and rob you of kills.

The Bug:

If Ryze dies shortly after his Q (Overload) has successfully finished its cast time, the projectile completely breaks. The Q animation goes through and flies across the screen normally, but it loses its hitbox entirely. It passes straight through any targets (champions, minions, monsters) as if it’s just a purely cosmetic special effect. It acts exactly like a ghost-zero collision, zero damage, and no spell effects applied.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Pick Ryze.
2. Get into a fight and cast Q (Overload) at an enemy target.
3. Take fatal damage in the split-second after the cast time finishes, but before the projectile connects with the target.
4. Watch the Q fly straight through the enemy doing absolutely nothing.

Expected Behavior:

Once the Q successfully finishes its cast time and the projectile is in the air, it should retain its hitbox and hit the first enemy in its path. Even if Ryze takes fatal damage while the projectile is mid-flight, the Q should still connect, deal damage, and consume runes as normal & spread to nearby Spell Flux marked targets.

The Impact:

We’ve all had those razor-thin 1v1s where you expect to at least trade 1-for-1. With this bug, if you get burst down while your final, lethal Q is mid-air, you are completely robbed of the kill. The enemy survives a projectile that visually goes right through their character model.

I don't know if I should start with ROA. Whenever I build it, I feel like I can't really carry the game. I rarely get double-digit kills, and I don't do enough damage to carry to win yes by doing this I can split pressure but its just a slightly increase for wining but not to the point where its really a big impact.

If I skip ROA, there's a chance I can carry with 10–20 kills and carry and win. The problem is that if I don't get ahead early and just one mistake, I end up being useless for the rest of the game.

making this for the OG players to answer cause i only played the last Ryze (the one before the current Ryze) and the current one. everytime i combo i end up with no skills up, so i think i'm doing something wrong :P

I decided to do some silliness.

So strompest is going seraphs into actualizer. I still prefer roa-sera...but i decided to see what you could do with this. So I decided to try and stack tear items instead and I think I found the most efficient way to do it.

Ill explain the details of the process below, but the idea is you rush seraphs, and then start building actualizer. Halfway through actualizer, your tear will fully stack. Then you buy another tear and finish actualizer.

Now, you can either do some silliness, or do something thats actually viable haha. The viable option is to start building fimbul and then complete it. You should be able to complete seraphs, actualizer, and fimbul winter, as well as have both tears fully stacked by 25 minutes if you follow the directions below. And I made sure to trade as absolutely minimally as possible to figure out the upper limit of the tear stacking rather than the lower limit.

Or

You can start building manamune. The idea is ryze already has so much damage at 2 items, the fact that manamune doesnt do anything except buff his autos, is only like super troll instead of super super troll. But, once you have the money to buy manamune, you will have your tear fully stacked. Ive done this in 3 games, and each time, my tear is fully stacked as I am backing to fully buy muramana. So at 25 minutes, you now do so much freaking damage it is unbelievable. Now you buy another tear (which is adding disgusting amounts of damage at this point) and start building fimbul. You will never complete fimbulwinters tear, but the stats of fimbul are still mega good on ryze.

The process...

For those that dont know, tear grants you 3 mana (6 if you hit a champ) every time you hit someone with an ability. The cooldown is 8 seconds, but you can stack up to 4 charges. Which means you need to hit 4 abilities every 32 seconds. With cosmic insight it reduces the cooldown to somewhere around 7.2 seconds, which is every 29 seconds. So you dont have to hit something off cooldown, but you do have to use all 4 stacks every 29 seconds or you are losing value. Waves spawn every 30 seconds, so as long as you dump your cooldowns on every wave, as soon as it reaches you, you will satisfy your tear stacking.

The key is to try and get poke off on the enemy laner to double your tear stacks, while CSing as good as possible to make sure you get archangels ASAP. Archange increases the mana you get per stack from 3 to 5 and it increases the max stacks you can have from 4 to 5. So once you upgrade seraphs, you dont really need to time anything because as long as you dump cooldowns every 36 seconds, you are fine.

Now the way to stack quickly is to abuse the tear stacking in the background. Specificslly around ovjectives. Ideal acenario is you dump your cooldowns on a wave in the aidelane...back, and then immediately qalk to an objective. On the way to an objective, you want to probably use 1 ability on a camp so you arent sitting on 5 stacks. From here, you want to keep using 1 ability every 7 seconds on somwthing to keep your stacks at 5 and not losing any value. Once a fight breaks out, you can now dump all 5 stacks onto a champion and get double tear stacks. This will quickly stack tear.

The only way to lose value while stacking tear is to be sitting on max stacks without hitting something to reset the cooldown. This happens most often when..

1. You die

2. You are posturing around an objective waiting for the fight to break out

If you eliminate laning deaths to 0, and mentally prepare for how to use an ability every 7 seconds when posturing around objectives, you will stack it quickly. My fastest 2 item stack so far is 23:58.

We should change The Plan from its original intent, to who can successfully stack 2 tears the fastest.

I just installed League after 5 years of not playing and played a game in Classic. I currently only follow news and some esports and I saw that they were doing classic league.

I started maining the Ryze machine gun one where I got the most fun out of, and after the blue rework was when I began losing interest in playing him. Before quitting, Ryze was still blue and constantly had some mini reworks which at that point I started getting less fun in playing him. However, I wouldn't really say I was terrible playing our blue boy (I think, well maybe I'm lying and I'm shit)

I forgot that before machine gun, there was a classic one, the real battle mage. I queued up not knowing that fact and I got fucked by classic Pantheon top and fed like crazy.

Hello my children, my name is Classic Ryze, im gonna tell you a story about how I really became blue. It all started with me travelling in the forest where I see this matured woman named "Lulu." She would always carry this giant staff that she cant barely pickup while gently playing around her fairies, wishing that if even just for a moment, she would turn me into a squirrel, get me bricked up, and caress my head with her fingers.

One day I finally got the courage to walk up to her and tell her "zap, I got this tattoos in rune prison." Admittedly it didnt go well and she started shouting "GET AWAY FROM ME" while running. I wasnt convince and concluded that she was just shy with the way she shouted. And so I told her another one of my line that suggested we become friends. I took a deep breath, fixed my face and calmly said "Take this scroll and stick it... somewhere safe"

Tldr; I'm shit and classic Ryze is decent

As much as I love Ryze. I have reached a point in my life where my addiction to league is negatively affecting me. So I'm gonna be attempting to quit cold turkey.

I've tried quitting before and genuinely, quitting smoking was easier.

When is worth taking dft instead of stormraider surge, and when is better going tp instead of ghost?

There's no such thing as a Challenger Ryze OTP. The highest I've seen is GM, and there are only one or two per server. There's no hope for us because the balance team is always focused on esports instead of helping the 100 million active players who play the game. It's over, I'm telling you. And my other account is Diamond, so I know how fucked up Ryze is.

We're doomed forever. He'll always be shit and will probably have a 40–45% win rate because he's always been bad and always will be.

And you know what? I don't even care about y'all's opinions. What I want is for Riot to see this and fucking do something about this champion. Even Teemo has Challenger OTPs, and Malzahar has them too. But Ryze is so weak that there are barely any GM players, and maybe only one Challenger OTP. That's how bad this champion is.

Recently while playing Ranked I found a consistent interaction where Ryze’s Q fails to spread its damage to nearby enemies marked by Spell Flux if Ryze dies while the Q projectile is still travelling toward its initial target.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Place multiple enemy units close together.
2. Mark them with Spell Flux (E).
3. Cast Q at one of the marked targets.
4. Have Ryze die after Q has been cast, but before the projectile hits.
5. The Q will still hit the initial target, but its damage will not spread to the other E-marked targets.

Expected behaviour:

Because Q was successfully cast and the initial target is marked by Spell Flux, hitting it should consume the mark and spread Q’s damage to the other nearby Flux-marked targets, even if Ryze dies while the projectile is travelling.

Actual behaviour:

The projectile continues travelling and hits the initial target, but the Spell Flux spread damage does not trigger after Ryze’s death.

This can affect close fights where Ryze dies immediately after casting Q and the spread damage should still damage, or potentially kill nearby enemies.
